SYROTEUK, Cazmere - The tragic death of Cazmere "Kayo" Syroteuk, of The Burr District, South of Humboldt, Sask., occurred, accidentally, on Monday, March 24, 2003, on the Church Hill River at Otter Lake. He was 69 years of age. Kayo will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by five sisters and five brothers, Emily Dodd of Lanigan, Sask., Mike Syroteuk of Kamsack, Sask., Mary (Bill) Kobzey of White Rock, B.C., Joe (Mary) Syroteuk, Bernadette Knaus, Louise (Cyril) Hale and Delores McKeown, all of Humboldt, Sask., Leonard (Rita) Syroteuk of Guelph, Ont., Mervyn (Jean) Syroteuk of Creston, B.C., and Louis Syroteuk of Plunkett, Sask.; sisters-in-law, Gladys Syroteuk and Alice Syroteuk, both of Humboldt, Sask., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Annie (nee Paproski) Syroteuk; two brothers, Walter and John; one nephew, Glen Dodd; sister-in-law, Valentina Syroteuk and three brothers-in-law, Edward Dodd, Paul McKeown and Edward Knaus. Funeral Mass was offered from St. Augustine's Church, Humboldt, Sask. Internment followed at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic cemetery in the Wolverine District Southwest of Humboldt.
MITROW, Alexander - At 80 years of age, passed away, on April 11, 2003, in Tecumseh, Ont., formerly of Guelph. Beloved husband of the late Tatiana (April 11, 2001). KEARNS, Stephen Peter (Steve) - Of Guelph, passed away, at the Guelph General Hospital, Friday, April 11, 2003, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Blanche (nee Piper). Stephen is survived by his son Dr. John Kearns of Tillsonburg; daughter-in-law Carol and grandchildren, Lindsay, Michael and Barbara all of St. Catharines; sister, Mary Glover of Kingston; and brother John Kearns of Oshawa. Predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Sophie (Stoiko) Kearns; sister, Anne Hawtin; and brothers, Bill and Michael Kearns. Stephen was born in Galt, Ontario in 1916 and was raised in Toronto. He began his military career in 1942 and served with the RCA during the Second World War; retiring from the RCAF, after 30 years service, as a Chief Warrant Officer - Class 1; and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Col.
