CROW: At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General campus, on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the age of 59, Donna Jean Crow of Ridgetown, loving companion of Robert Moore. Born in Chatham Township in 1940, daughter of the late Alice (Burton) and Malcom Crow. She will be sadly missed by her children, Janice and Rick Hough of Brampton, Dwain Moore of St. Thomas, Lori and Chris Gowin of London, Tracey and Paul Berghammer of Glouchester, David Anderson and Debbie VanAlstine of London, and Kim and Rick Ireland of London. Also sadly missed by eight grandchildren. Dear sister of Kathleen and Jack Leslie of Chatham, Linda Caryn of Chatham, Robert and Beverley Crow of Ridgetown, and William and Joyce Crow of Chatham. Predeceased by five sisters and three brothers. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, from where the chapel service was conducted on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at 1 p.m. Cremation took place in Resurrection Crematory, Sarnia. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

GOUBERT: At Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, Mary Goubert of Sarnia, formerly of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Seraphin Goubert (1967), at age 93. Born in Erembodegen, Belgium in 1906, daughter of the late Frans and Emily DeNil. Dear mother of Pauline VanDyke and her husband Martin of Sarnia, a son-in-law Anthony Szabo of Midland, a daughter-in-law Mary Goubert of Thamesville and sister-in-law Suzanne DeNil of Belgium. Sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter, Rose Szabo; by a son Albert Goubert; by two brothers in Canada and two sisters and three brothers in Belgium. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Ressurection was celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000 at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church. Parish prayers were said Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Burial was in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.

KOMANECKY: At Copper Terrace Longterm Care Facility, Chatham, on Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, Zenowia "Zena" Komanecky of Chatham, beloved wife of Andrew Komanecky, at age 77. Born in Olesko, The Ukraine in 1922, daughter of the late Anna (Wesolowske) and Ivan Woluyko. Dear mother of Larysa Lutes and her husband Dave of Blenheim, and Andy Komanecky of Chatham. Grandmother of Mark Lutes and his fiance Anita of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Ryan Lutes of Blenheim. Also surviving are a brother and sisters in The Ukraine, and a sister in Australia. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, from where the funeral service was conducted on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at 10 a.m. with Father Dmytro Pankiw of St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to the Parkinson's Foundation would be appreciated.

DeMATTIA: At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General Hospital, on Friday, May 5, 2000, Armando DeMattia, age 77, Chatham, loving husband of Domenica (Matteis) DeMattia. Born in San Michele di Serino, Italy on Nov. 24, 1922, son of the late Carmella (DeMattia) and Giovanni DeMattia. He was also a veteran of the Second World War and a member of St. Ursula's Roman Catholic Church. Dear father of Tony DeMattia and his wife Lina of Chatham, and Joanne Ruggiero and her husband Catello, also of Chatham. Cherished grandfather of Victoria, Amanda, Danielle and Jonathan. Brother of Auerillio, Adamo and Ugo, all in Italy. He is predeceased by three brothers in Italy and one in Fairfield, Conn. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, May 8, 2000 at 10 a.m. in St. Ursula's Church. Parish prayers were said 7 p.m. on Sunday. Entombment will be in Maple Leaf Mausoleum. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Hearing Society would be appreciated. The family would like to thank at this time Dr. and Mrs. Brady and Cathy, Dr. Brisbin, Dr. Tran, University Hospital, Arrhythmia Unit, Nursing Staff at both St. Joseph's and Public General, Respiratory, Outpatient Lab at St. Joseph's, ParaMed and Proresp.

NIGHSWANDER: At her residence in Chatham on Monday, May 8, 2000, Blanche Amy Nighswander of Chatham, age 87, beloved wife of Quincy. Born in Toronto in 1912, daughter of the late Elizabeth Amy (Newberry) and Edward Britnell, she was a founding member of Sprucedale United Church, a member of the church choir and the United Church Women. She will be sadly missed by: a son, Peter Nighswander and his wife Eileen of Wallaceburg; a daughter, Patricia Nighswander of Kingston and two grandsons, Michael and Jeffrey. She is predeceased by four brothers and a sister. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William Street South, Chatham from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10. A private family funeral will be conducted at the Hinnegan-Peseski Chapel on Thursday, May 11 with the Revered John Brown of Sprucedale United Church officiating. Cremation will follow. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.

BROWN: At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General Campus on Thursday, June 1, 2000, Cecilia Zella (Barnier) Brown, beloved wife of the late Hilard Brown (1967). Born in Dover Township in 1907, daughter of the late David and Mary (Lucier) Barnier. Mother of the late Leonard Brown (1971). Partner of Arlene Majek of Blenheim. Grandmother to Todd, Mary Kay and her husband David McEachren of Blenheim. Great-grandmother to Lacey, Tiffany, Brianne and Vashti. Sister of Idle Demars, Laurette Deceder, sister of Norman and his wife Madeline all of Wallaceburg. Sister of Marie James, Kay and her husband Bruce McKay, the late Pearl Lucier (1981) all of Chatham. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William Street South Chatham from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2000. A funeral survice was conducted in the Hinnegan-Peseski Chapel on June 3 a 1 p.m. with the Reverend Murry Sample officiating. Burial was in St. Anthony's cemetery. KRESAN: A resident of RR 1, Highgate, John Kresan died at his home suddenly on Sunday, May 28, 2000. He was in his 60th year. Born in Chatham, son of the late Jakub and Apolena (Bartovic) Kresan. John was a life-time farmer and a member of the Highgate Legion, Br. 337. Beloved wife and best friend of Carol Lynn (Scaman) Kresan. Dear father of David Kresan and his wife Jolenee of RR 1, Ridgetown, Steven Kresan and his wife Shanda of Chatham and Kevin Kresan and his friend Marney Bistrovich of Hamilton and the late Michael Kresan (1968). Grandfather of Brooke and Laura and the late Hailey (1997). Brother of Pauline Evans of Kent Bridge, Justina (Jean) Christ of Chatham, Mary Crumplin of London, Andy Kresan and his wife Gil of Sudbury, Frank Kresan and his wife Janice of Emeryville, George Kresan and his wife Kathleen of Blenheim, and the late Rudy Kresan and Emily Svec. Brother-in-law of John Svec of Chicago and Frances Kresan of Sudbury. The Kresan family received friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home in Ridgetown. The Highgate Legion held a memorial service on Tuesday, May 30 at 7 p.m., and prayers were held Wednesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The funeral service was conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, June 1, 2000 with Rev. H. S. Summers and Mrs. Margaret Robertson presiding at the organ. During the service, son David gave words of tribute in remembrance of his father. The songs "Daddy's Hands" and "Can't Cry Hard Enough" were heard. Pallbearers were Gary Speed, Colin Carey, Ed Zoula and Mark Bieber. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery , Ridgetown.

PATCHETT: At Victoria Residence on Wednesday, May 31, 2000, Ethel Patchett of Chatham, at age 94. Born in Cedar Springs, Ont. in 1905, daughter of the late Mary E. (Nichols) and Truman Patchett, she was a self-employed rug maker and lived in Chatham-Kent all her life. She will be sadly missed by her cousin, Annie Boughner of Ridgetown; and by dear friends Wendy Schinkelshoek and Alexander "Rick" Gyorfi, both of Chatham. Taken from the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, at her request, to be buried privately in the Morpeth United Church cemetery. A memorial service was conducted at Victoria Residence on Thursday, June 1, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Pieter Schinkelshoek of Grace Congregational Christian Church officiating. Donations to Victoria Residence would be appreciated.

Born in Chatham in 1915, daughter of the late Mary (Simpson) and Frank Edwards, she lived in Chatham-Kent all her life and was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Women's League (Harwich). She will be sadly missed by a son, Maurice Zimmer, and by a brother, Milton Edwards, both of Harwich. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial was in Bethel cemetery , Harwich. Loving mother of Margarida Torres and her husband Manuel of Chatham, one granddaughter, Goretti Jefferson and her husband Richard of Chatham; three great-grandchildren, Richard, Aliesha and Devon; and by three great-great grandchildren, Joshua, Allyssa and Jessica; and by many nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Fernanda Pereira of Chatham, and Alfred Silva and his wife Maria of Chatham. Predeceased by two brothers, Abilio and Gilberte Silva; and by one sister, Maria Santo. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Friday, July 14, 2000 at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church. Parish prayers were said Thursday at 3 p.m. Family prayers were said Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Burial was in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
