Madeline Cooper
Madeline Pearl Cooper, 89, of Oxford Street, died at the Stratford General Hospital on Jan. 20, 2009. She was born in Mansonville, Quebec, the daughter of the late Henry Medigee and the former Florence Fuller and lived in the Eastern Townships of Quebec until moving to Stratford in 1964. She was employed at Blackstone Industrial Products on Romeo Street for 16 years. She was the wife of Levi Cooper who predeceased her Nov. 10, 1976. She is survived by her children Helen Harback and husband Paul, Dot Nelles and husband Wayne. A funeral service will be held at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. Interment in Avondale cemetery.
Pauline Hall
Pauline Pilkington Hall (nee Hooton), 77, died at the Stratford General Hospital on Jan. 19, 2009. She was born in Shirebrook-Derbyshire, England on March 18, 1931. She was a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and worked in the display department at the Royal Ontario Museum and as a museum advisor for 20 years for the Ontario government. She was an accomplished artist with great skill in water colours. She was predeceased by her husband John A. Hall in 2002. She is survived by her step-daughters Susan Prieur, Crowborough of England, Jill (John) Skinner of Stratford and Jenny (Peter) Alker of Brighton. She was predeceased by her step-daughter Becky Hall. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 1:30 until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow.
Jeanne Miller
Evelyn Jeanne Miller, 84, formerly of 90 Greenwood Dr., died at Cedarcroft Place on Jan. 20, 2009. She was born in England, the daughter of the late Charles and Valerie (Goddard) Edmonds. She served with the Royal Air Force Women’s Auxiliary in England and in 1946 came to Canada as a war bride. She was employed as a counselor at the School for the Deaf in Belleville. She came to Stratford with her husband in 1988 where she was a member of St. John’s United Church, the Festival City Kiwins, Gallery Stratford and the Stratford-Perth Museum. She was the wife of George Miller, whom she married in England on February 23, 1945. She is survived by her daughter Gillian Beech and husband Barrie of Stratford. A service was held at the Greenwood Court Chapel on Jan. 22. Arrangements by Heinbuck Funeral Home.
Karen Noon
Karen Noon, 66, died at the Stratford General Hospital on Jan. 14. Born in Tavistock, she was the daughter of the late Robert Alvin Ross and Helen Elizabeth (Schmidt) Ross. She is survived by her husband Thomas Noon and her children Daniel Noon, Michael Noon, Kathy Noon and Bonnie Gale and her husband Ron. A private family funeral service was held on Jan. 17 at the Heinbuck Funeral Home.
Natalie and Michael Paterson-Matt
Natalie Heather and Michael Kevin John Matt, born on Dec. 30, 2008, died on Jan. 10, 2009. They were the children of Ashley Paterson and Brandon Brooks. Brother and sister of Wyatt and Kaydence and grandchildren of Kevin and Jackie Paterson, Colleen Tansley and Ron and Noella Matt. A family service was held at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Jan. 14. Interment in Avondale cemetery.
Frances Turner
Frances Turner, 94, a longtime resident of Stratford, died in California on Dec. 28, 2009. She was the wife of Gordon, who predeceased her in 1963. She was born in Cook’s Creek, Man. in 1914. During her Canadian Pacific Railway chef days, she met and married Gordon in Toronto. In 1961, she and Gordon moved to Stratford. She continued her career in Stratford hotels after Gordon’s death. She was a longtime volunteer and member of Ladies Auxilary, Canadian Legion for over 40 years and was held in high regard. In 2007, due to declining health, she moved with her daughter Evelyn and husband Norm Southerby to their home in California. She thanks all her friends and neighbors for the fun she enjoyed with them. She is survived by her children Kay, Evelyn, June, Ron, Les, Len and Carol. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Millie in 2008. Private funeral arrangements have been made.
Ruth Addley
Ruth Addley, 85, died at her home on Nov. 26, 2009. She was born in St. Thomas and volunteered with the Salvation Army Red Shield during the Second World War. She was a long term volunteer of the Galt Division of the Civil Defence. She was a loyal member of the Independent Order of Foresters and served as secretary/treasurer for several years. She is survived by her children Kenneth and his wife Glenda of Sioux Lookout, Stephen and his wife Linda of Innerkip, Pamela and her husband Gary Geiger of Stratford and Dawn and her husband Tom Skinner of St. Pauls. She was predeceased by her husband Richard and her parents, William Gold and Rosetta Bryant. A funeral service was held at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Nov. 29.
Edwin (Ted) Hunt
Edwin Charles Hunt, 84, died at PeopleCare in Stratford on Nov. 25, 2009. He was born in Stratford, a son of the late Albert and Ruth Hunt. He was the husband of Vera. He worked at Avalon Fabrics and Collins and Aikman. He is survived by his children Ray (Peggy) and Sheryl. A funeral service was held at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Nov. 28.
Olga Schaff
Olga Marie Schaff, 89, died at Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell, on Nov. 25, 2009. She was born in Lithuania, a daughter of the late Josef and Amalie Schwarz. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was the wife of the late Oswald Schaff who she married in 1942 and who predeceased her in 2006. She is survived by her children Horst Schaff and his wife Nancy, Judy Frank and her husband Allen and Otto Schaff and his wife Linda. A funeral service was held at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Nov. 28. Interment in Avondale cemetery.
Patrick Belanger Sr.
Patrick Joseph Belanger Sr, 82, of 42 Campbell Court, died at Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2009. He was the husband of Marjorie (Kalbfleisch) Belanger. He is survived by his children Patrick and Jeanie Belanger Jr. of Mississauga, Michael and Leah Belanger of Waterloo, David Belanger and Beth Siberry of Waterloo and Steven and Tracy Belanger of Stratford. Visitation will be held at W.G. Young Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 5 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 with its time and location to be announced.
Albert Fink
Albert John Fink, 82, formerly of Caledonia Street, Stratford, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2009 at Spruce Lodge. He was born in Ellice Township, a son of the late Andrew and Laura Fink, and was raised on the family farm. He worked with Burgetz Grocery on Mornington Street and later in the Electrical Department at Reliance Electric. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, June (Ford), and by his son Terry Fink (Linda). A funeral service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Interment in Avondale cemetery.
Mathea Lepelaars
Mathea Lepelaars, 83, died Nov. 11, 2009 at the Mitchell Nursing Home. She was born in Geldrop, Netherlands, a daughter of the late Renier and Cornelia VanRysingen. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Stratford. In 1993 she was predeceased by her husband Adrian (Jack) Lepelaars. She is survived by her children Ellen Young, Sebringville, Gerda Reiger, Stratford, Jack Lepelaars (Lorie), Mitchell, and Rene Lepelaars (Cheryl), Stratford. A funeral service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Interment in Avondale cemetery.
Elsa (Elsie) Maude Hutchinson Moore
Elsa (Elsie) Maude Hutchinson Moore, 86, died Nov. 10, 2009 in the company of her family at her daughter’s home in Oakville following a brief illness. Born in Ottawa, she is survived by her children Christina Moore Pelley (Woodrow Pelley) of Oakville and Sean Moore (Anne Carlyle), of Ottawa, beloved her sister Catherine Hutchinson of Stratford, and her brothers Edmund, John and James Hutchinson of Ottawa, Ilderton and Woodstock respectively, She was predeceased by her mother Christina Kemp Hutchinson, and her father Edmund Mann Hutchinson, brothers David and Murdoch and sister Elizabeth.
