Dear grandfather of Devin (Christina), Shannon, Christopher, Heather, Anna, Audrey and great grandfather of Savannah and Alissa. Brother of Evelyn Suttie (Jack), Gerald Finlay (Margery), Dean Finlay and Doris Pascoe (Don). John will be sadly missed by his extended family Vida, Jim, Ian, Darrell, Melanie, his friend Andy Miedema, and all those who supported him at Parkwood and Christian Horizons. A Memorial Service will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Thursday, May 28th, at 2 pm. Brother of Harold Macklin (Mike) and the late Kenneth. Son of the late Stanley and Vergie Macklin. Torrance, Dr. Bernard Stanley, M.D. at his residence in Cobourg on Sunday, April 26, 2009. Dr. Bernard Torrance, M.D., formerly of Toronto, practiced Radiology in several hospitals in Ontario. Beloved son of the late Lionel Stanley Torrance and the late Winifred E. Torrance. Survived by friend Tony Costa of Cobourg and family pet Quintus. Also survived by many friends. A Memorial Service for Dr. Torrance will be held at a later date, to be announced. Memorial donations in memory of Dr. Torrance can be made to any charity involved with medical research. MENDES, Michelle (nee Knight) - Michelle Mendes (Knight) touched so many lives it would be impossible to name everyone. She lived every day to its fullest potential and saw the best in everyone. She surrounded herself with wonderful family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all. Michelle is survived by her husband, Victor Mendes, Victor’s parents Jose and Laura Mendes, her brother-in-law Emmanuel Mendes, her god son Joao Tomas Figueiredo Ameral, Michelle’s parents Ron and Dianne Knight, her sister Melissa Knight, her brother-in-law Rodney Bampton and their children Elle and Evie Bampton, her grandmother Jean Knight, her aunts and uncles; Mary Buchanan & Bill Pratt, Linda Whaley & Brian Foster, Richard Whaley, Carolyn & Bob Atkins, Martin Whaley, Roger & Diane Knight, Craig & Beryl Williams, many cousins and her military family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Evelyn & Earl Whaley, Jim Knight and Aunt Wendy Williams. We know you were greeted by the best and will be protected until we meet again. A Memorial Service will be held in St. Andrew’s United Church, Grafton on Saturday May 2nd, 2009 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Camp Quin-Mo-Lac or RMC Foundation (Michelle Mendes).

Margaret Elizabeth "Molly" Mackay
April 6, 1921 - April 25, 2009

MACKAY, Margaret Elizabeth “Molly” (nee Warner) – passed away on April 25th in her 89th year at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, Ontario. Beloved wife of 67 years to the late Bill Mackay. Margaret “Molly” was born to Carlton Griffin Warner and Margaret “Billie” Powis living at the time in Hamilton Ontario. She was raised in the Hamilton area with her sister Deidre who has predeceased her. During her life path Molly met and was courted by William “Bill” Mackay, later marrying in November of 1941. Molly and Bill raised their family of four children in what was originally named the Belleview Hotel but was known locally as “Bircholme” in New Brunswick. It was a wonderful home and kept Molly and Bill busy and happy for many years until with the children grown, and the yearn to travel, Bill and Molly sold this home in 1978 to begin a time of relaxation and pleasure. Molly and Bill built a smaller home in Rothesay, wintered on Sanibel Island, Florida and took a major trip to different parts of the world each year for the next 15 years. In 1994, Molly and Bill moved to Cobourg to be closer to their children and grand-children. Sadly Molly’s cherished life partner Bill passed away in 2008. Molly bravely journeyed on, passing with dignity and her family by her side. She will be greatly missed by her four children Reay (Lynda), Sondy (Michael), Bruce (Joanne) and Margaux, her six grand-children and six great grand-children. The family of Molly would like to thank Dr. Bayer, the staff of Landmark-Extendicare, and the Palliative Care Unit of the Northumberland Hills Hospital. Molly will be cremated with later burial in Fernhill cemetery , Saint John, N.B. Those wishing may make a memorial donation by cheque to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation. Holloway, Joan Caroline at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, following a courageous battle, on Friday, April 24, 2009. Joan Holloway (nee Dew), in her 60th year, was the beloved wife of Raymond Holloway. Dear mother of Sherry Holloway-Smith (Andy) of Cobourg. Grandmother of Matthew Smith and MacKenzie Smith. Sister of Glenda Shortt (Dean) of Peterborough, Marilyn Herron (Fred) of Cobourg, Diane Dew of Cobourg, Doug Dew of Millbrook and Allan Dew of Peterborough. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon till time of service. Following cremation, interment Union cemetery , Cobourg. Memorial donations in memory of Joan can be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Durham Region Cancer Centre.

Szurgot, Patricia Ann - At the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, on Wednesday April 22, 2009, at the age of 55. Pat (nee Jennings) beloved wife of Julian “Jules” Szurgot. Loving mother of Shawn Maddeaux (Amanda) and Trisha Maddeaux (Mike Coughlin). Loving grandmother of Hannah and Eva-Jean. Sister of Debra Cabral (Victor), Dan Jennings (Wendy) and Jim Jennings (Lynn). Pat will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
