On Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the age of 85. Survived by sister Jeannine Farrell; brothers Guy (Nicole), Bert (Annette); nieces, Ann (David) and Lynn (Michel) D'Arcy, and two grand-nieces, Liana and Victoria. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from 10:30 a.m. until service time in the chapel at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Ottawa Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated

Paul de Brouwer

Peacefully in Ottawa on July 24, 2003 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Suzanne. Cherished brother of Yvonne, Christiane, Antoinette, Sister Mary Joseph (Madeleine) Albert, Godelieve, Monique and his brother-in-law Jacques. He also leaves behind his adopted children, Marie-Pierre, Xavier, Jean-Francois, Dominique; his grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Paul was born in Bruges, Belgium after an important period of twenty years in L'Abbaye de Maredsous, he emigrated to Canada in 1964. He was a teacher in Ste-Therese-de-Blainville, in Matagami, in Farnham, in Touraine (St-Alexandre College) and in Ottawa (Lycee Claudel and Ottawa University). As well as being a teacher he was an expert in UNESCO in Africa. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, July 30th, 2003 from 1 p.m. until service time in the Chapel at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Society of Ottawa would be appreciated by the family.

Dorothy (Dolly) Van Dusen (nee Hogg) Ferguson - 07/11/2003

Peacefully at the Civic Hospital, Thursday July 10th, 2003 in her eighty-ninth year. Beloved daughter of the late Honourable Justice Frederick Drummond Hogg and Elizabeth Van Dusen Hogg. Loving wife of the late J. Keith Ferguson. Dear mother of Wendy Sumner of Ottawa, John of Belleville, Fred of Palm Beach, Florida and Peter of Ottawa. Also survived by six grandchildren, Julia, Pamela and Amanda Sumner, Jeffery and Lindsay Ferguson and Samantha Ferguson and two great grandchildren Laine and Paige Murray. Lifetime resident of Ottawa and a lifetime member of the May Court Club of Ottawa and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Memorial Service St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 84 Kent Street (handicap access)corner of Kent and Wellington, Ottawa, Saturday, July 19th at 2 p.m. The family will greet friends after the service at a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ottawa Humane Society or Wild Bird Care Centre, Moodie Drive would be appreciated. William David Goodwin - 07/18/2003

Predeceased by his parents William G. and Molly Goodwin. Survived by his sister Kathleen and her husband Ron Legrove, of Parksville, B.C., and niece Rhonda and her husband Billy, and their children Jack, Kelly and Christian. Long-time friend of Greg McKiel. Bill was the Director General of the Information Technology Services Directorate of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, where he had worked for twenty- eight years. A funeral service will be held at the Church of St. Barnabus (corner of Kent and James Streets in Ottawa) on Tuesday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centretown Community Health Services of Ottawa, 420 Cooper Street, K2P 2N6 (613-233-4443).

Jacob (Jack) Hartman - 07/18/2003

it is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Jacob (Jack) Hartman, who passed away at home on Friday, July 18, 2003, with his dear wife, Shirley, at his side. Jack is survived by his wife Shirley, son Mark (Sherri), Lorne, and daughter Risa, brothers Harry and Abe. Grandfather of Michelle, Stacey, Robbie, Kelly Michael and Braxton. Predeceased by brothers Roy, Sid, Joe and sister Sally. A graveside service will be held at the Jewish Community cemetery , Bank Street, on Monday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. Special thanks to Drs. L. Coulombe, S. Shamji and R. Mimeault and the excellent nursing staff for their loving and devoted care of Jack.

Gail Sylvia Hinge - 07/18/2003

passed away peacefully on July 18, 2003, at 12:45 am. at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, in her 61st year, after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her loving parents John and Gwendalyn Hinge and leaves to mourn her sister Sandra Faye Joines (David), niece Faye Sheila Joines and nephews Mark Russell and Trevor John Joines. It is with unimaginable sadness, she leaves her aunts Iris McDonald and Mazie Lamirande and many cousins. She will be deeply missed by long-time friends and work mates Sandy Watts, Suzanne Loewen, Patricia Archer, Wanda Walk (of B.C.) and Ruth Grealis. Gail worked for more than 25 years for the Federal Government, firstly at the NRC, followed by the Department of Fisheries and Indian Affairs. Her strong faith in God, her tremendous courage and personal strength have carried her through difficult times. May she now rest in peace. A Memorial Service will be held at the Fourth Avenue Baptist Church (109A Fourth Ave.) on Thursday, July 24th at 7:00 p.m. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses staff at the Ottawa Hospital and especially Dr. S. Ferma. In memoriam, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Illman, Dr. William Irwin

Peacefully at the Glebe Centre, Ottawa on Friday, July 25, 2003 at age 82 years. Loving husband to Wanda, father to Beth, Nancy and Meg and sons-in-law Bob and David. Grandfather to Cynthia, Rachel, Rebekah, Miriam and Sean and great-grandfather to Lucie, Lawrence, Edwina, Madelaine and Amy. Bill was a Professor of Botany at Carleton University and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.. Friends may attend a Memorial Service at Rideau Park United Church, 2203 Alta Vista Drive at Cunningham on Tuesday, July 29th at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. Those wishing, may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice.

At the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Friday, July 25, 2003 Harry Mortimer Kelson in his 97th year. Predeceased by his parents Charles Harold Kelson and Gertrude Amelia Murphy and sister "Kelson". He will be sadly missed by his cousins Frances Ball of Toronto, Esie Jenning of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ann Lailey of Hawaii, Beatrix Miller and Elisabeth Winstanley of England and many close friends. Harry was employed by the Federal Government in Mines & Technical Survey, now called Energy, Mines & Resources. Funeral arrangements by the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry. Private cremation. Memorial donations ti the Lung Association would be appreciated.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine, 952 Green Valley Crescent, Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10am. Interment Notre Dame cemetery. James Malcolm McAlpine - 07/22/2003

Went home to be with His Lord in his 73rd year on Sunday, July 20, 2003 after a short week of illness at the William Osler Health Center in Etobicoke, Ontario. Beloved husband of Ruth Morin (originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta) and the late June McAlpine (nee Russell). Jim is survived by his 4 children Nancy Cavey (Bill) of Winnipeg, Bruce McAlpine and Russ McAlpine (Lois) both of Waldheim, Sask. and Tanis Macinsky (Mike) of New Hartford, NY. and his 10 loving grandchildren. Jim is survived by his brother Don McAlpine (Donna) of Fergus, Ontario and his sisters-in-law Sadie and Ann. Predeceased by his brothers Ken and Bob. Jim's warm smile and big handshake will be missed greatly by all including his brother -in-law John Russell (Dorothy) of Calgary and also Ruth's loving family David, Donna, Glen, Leslie, Ted and Candace. Born in Dutton, Ontario and later moving to Toronto Jim met June Marilyn Russell. They married and raised a family of four, first in Agincourt, Ontario and then in Ottawa. After June's passing in 1991 Jim married Ruth and they made their way to Calgary for his retirement. His career was primarily as a salesman; his great love was to serve The Lord. He was an active member at the Metropolitan Bible Church when he lived in Ottawa and First Alliance in Calgary. Jim was involved with Friends Of Israel (FOI) and was currently sitting on the board in Canada. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, July 23 from 7-9pm and on Thursday, July 24 from 11am until service time in the Chapel at 1pm. Reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Interment Pinecrest cemetery. In memoriam donations to FOI Gospel Ministry Inc. would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Teresa Mary (Dee-Daw) McCormick - 07/23/2003

passed away peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere Centre on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at the age of 84 years. Teresa is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances McCormick and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Veronica McCormick and two brothers, Charles and Jimmy McCormick. A private graveside service will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens.

Helen Madeline Mills (nee Lamon) - 07/16/2003

At home on July 15, 2003 after a brief illness and a life well lived. Much loved wife of William D. Mills. Devoted mother of Kathleen (wife of Graham Macmillan), Janet (wife of Hans Jonasson), David (husband of Shelagh O'Brien) and Tom (husband of Colleen Thurrott). Beloved grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Fondly remembered by sister Babs Woodcock, brothers Reginald and Charles Lamon and sister-in-law Ann Heintzman. Helen was born in Orangeville, Ontario in 1921 and raised in Oshawa. She served as a dental nurse in the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII. Her married life was spent in Ottawa where she enjoyed many happy summers at the family cottage on Lake Clear. A Funeral Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 1pm. If friends so desire, the family would prefer that donations be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Grandmother of Dave (Deb), Howie (Allison) and Max. Survived by her brother Art Cornick (Niagara Falls, ON) and her sister Alice Jackson.
