He also leaves his grandchildren Jesse, Emily, Christopher, Samuel, Ryan, Félix, Laurence and his step-grandchildren. Allan peacefully slipped away to join his beloved wife Ginger in eternal rest on Monday, November 21, 2005. Allan was born on October 11, 1922 to the late Milton and the late Muriel Gregory and is survived by his brother Hubert (Marie) of Mission, Texas; his favorite 'granddaughter' Shannon (David Wilson) and grandsons Shawn, Christopher, Kurtis and great-grandchildren Ashley and baby Campbell. Allan was a proud Second World War Overseas Veteran; a 42 year member of the Montgomery Branch #351, Royal Canadian Legion; held a lifetime membership in Sydney Albert Luke Lodge, #558 A.F. and A.M., a charter member of Luxor Daylight Lodge, #741, A.F. and A.M., a member and Past Patron of Capital City Chapter, # 172, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of the Ottawa Tunis Shriners, A.A.O.N.M.S., and a life member of the Tunis Shrine Oriental Band. Father of Dr. Murray Allen (Dr. Anne Hamilton), Ottawa, Robert Allen (Sudhatri Murthy), Toronto and the late Patricia Allen. Dear grandfather of Patrick, Timothy, Kathleen, Meridith, Vivien, Sharmila, David and Matthew. Brother of Arthur (Shirley), Kingston; Doris Sharp, Halifax; Frank, Kentville, N.S.; Phyllis Trefry (Ross), Marion King (Albert), Ruth Swim, all of Yarmouth, N.S., and predeceased by Henry Allen and Beatrice Crosby. George retired from the RCMP as Assistant Commissioner after 35 years of service and then worked as Commissioner of Elections Canada. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend who enjoyed wood carving, tree planting, home renovating, watching his grandkids play soccer and spending time with his family. With sadness we announce the death of our mother, Eva E. Berry on Saturday, December 10, 2005, six days before her 95th birthday, from complications of a stroke three weeks earlier. Eva was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Robert A. Berry, her parents, David and Hannah Cossman and her nine brothers and sisters. Left with wonderful memories of her dynamic presence are her daughter Anne Berry and her husband Michael Diduch and her son David Berry and his wife Elizabeth and daughter, Sarah. Eva was born in North Sydney, NS and raised in Montreal where she attended McGill University. In World War II, she served as a captain in the Canadian Women's Army Corps working with the Interservice Committee for Protection of Prisoners of War in Enemy Hands and with the relocation of British war brides in Canada. After the war, she married and established a family. Once her children were in school, Eva pursued her interests in broadcasting with the CBC. In 1960, she was elected to the Ottawa Board of Education where she served until 1974. Eva participated on the Canadian Council for Research in Education and the Ontario Trustee and Rate Payers Association. Eva also worked part-time at the Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology. From 1976 to 1984, Eva was chairperson of the Unemployment Insurance Board of Referees. She also participated on many committees including the Ottawa Library Board and the Board of Education Advisory Board. In retirement, she shared many interests with her husband including extensive travel, continuing education, and theatre and opera. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Colonel By Retirement Residence where Eva made her home during the last six years of her life. Many became her best friends.
