Elizabeth Gwyn Combes

Peacefully, at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Care Centre after a long struggle with cancer, Elizabeth left this world with her family beside her on December 20, 2005. Beloved wife of Robert Neufeld. Dear daughter of Gwen Buckingham of Parkhill, Ontario and Gordon Combes of St. Mary's, Ontario. Dear sister of Barry Combes (Carol), Pamela Mulholland (Lorne), Nancy Buckingham-Post (Marvin) and Jane Buckingham. Special daughter-in-law to Rudy and Anne Neufeld of St. Catharines. Ontario and dear sister-in-law to Joanne Lebel (Denis) of London, Ontario and Robin Bailey (Charles) of Trenton, Ontario. Liz was also a much loved aunt to Leigh and Steven Trimm-Combes of Toronto and Lucas Lebel of London, Ontario. Liz will also be missed by her many friends in Ottawa and across Canada and by her colleagues at the History Department of the University of Ottawa. The family would like to offer its thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and support staff who have provided such wonderful support and care over the past two years. Cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate Liz's life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday, January 6, 2006 from 2-4pm with words of remembrance at 3pm. Alicje Anna Maria Cornelissen - 12/14/2005

Peacefully, on December 12, at the Ottawa General Hospital from complications related to lupus. Alicje was born in Cornwall, Ontario on May 13, 1959 and grew up on a dairy farm in nearby Williamstown. Alicje leaves behind her beloved husband, Rory Gooderham, her cherished children, Maaike Tess and Willem Ross, her dear parents, Francis and Maria Cornelissen, two brothers, five sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alicje received a Bachelor of Science from Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec and a Master of Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute outside of Boston, Massachusetts. She became an expert in fire protection engineering and devoted her career, which took her around the world, to fire safety and building code development. Over her 24-year long fight with lupus she proved wrong those who thought her illness would prevent her from achieving the professional success she enjoyed and from having her beautiful children who became the light of her life. Visitation will take place at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry on Thursday, December 15 from 2-4 and from 7-9pm., 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa and a funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamstown, Ontario on Friday, December 16, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Lupus Association, care of the Arthritis Society, 20-2269 Riverside Dr., Ottawa, ON K1H 8K2

Margaret D. Coulthart - 12/12/2005

Peacefully at the Glebe Centre on Sunday, December 11, 2005 in her 87th year. Beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Coulthart. Dear sister of Mrs. Oliver Geraux of Dundas, ON, Mrs. David Rea of Hamilton, ON and Mr. John Coulthart of Toronto, ON. Survived by her cousins Arlyss Young and Roy Empey. At the Ottawa Heart Institute, on December 12, 2005 after a courageous battle with diabetes and renal failure at the age of 54. Cherished partner of 23 years to Andre Cloutier. Dear son of John Kennedy 'Jack' Cunningham and the late Simone Paulette St. Gelais, and step son of Ardith Cunningham. Brother of Joseph (deceased July 30, 1954), Catherine Mary Cunningham-Huston(Gene Bodzin) and step-brother of the late Joan Irwin, the late Janet Irwin, Heather Irwin and Mary (Michael) Hippern. Also survived by his nephews Jason, Mitchell and Scott. Michael also leaves behind 2 very special lifelong friends; Kevin Scully and Lynn Bougeault as well as cousins, aunts, uncle extended family and friends. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) on Saturday, December 17, 2005 from 11am until words of remembrance at 12noon, followed by refreshments. Absent from the body and present with the Lord. Peacefully at the Maycourt Hospice on December 10, 2005 in her 93rd year, formerly of Bristol and currently of Nepean. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour. Born in Ladysmith, Quebec, the eldest daughter of the late Henry Dale and Ellen Woods, formerly of Shawville, Quebec. She was the beloved wife of the late Earl Dods for 68 years. Mother of the late Stanley (Doreen), Ronald (June), Dwight (Jessie), the late Carl Marcus at infancy, the late Lois (David Gray), Jim (Joyce), and Douglas (Sue). She leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Elma Cooke (Lloyd) of Florida and Perth and Roberta Rocher (the late Cal) of Listowel. Predeceased by her brother Carl (Helen), formerly of Shawville, Quebec. Our Beautiful 'Bonnie Jean' It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a wonderful woman. She was the beloved and loving wife of 49 years to Robert James Donaldson and devoted mother of Brenda ( Roger Sarty ), Ian ( Deb) and Sheila ( Rob Fisher ). Predeceased by her parents Ellard and Gladys Smith and by her sister Mary ( the late Archie MacMillan ). Cherished sister of Helen ( Arnold Beaudion ), Merle ( Marcel Martin ), Doris Sinden and Jack ( Gina ). Beloved sister-in-law to Evelyn, Diane ( Michael Iles ), Wilfred, Ellen ( the late Wally Bosas ) and the late Gordon Donaldson ( Rose ). Dear Aunt to many nieces and nephews. With great sadness we announce the death of Doris (Irvine) Edwards at age 86. Much loved wife of the late Ted Edwards (Senior) and wonderful mother to Penny, Pat (Tom), Peggy (Jo) and Ted (Margo). Grandmother of Danny (Kristin), Patty (Bob), Jamie, Julie, Scott, Karen, Joslyn, Steve, Lisa and Julie. Great-grandmother of Ben, Andrew, Travis, Jordan, Nick, Jacob, Samuel, Rowan, Mason and Jordan. Doris was a great friend to many and always there to help when needed. Those that survive her will miss her; those that died before her were blessed to have known her. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday December 16, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday December 17, 2005 at 12 noon. He leaves behind his loving sons Robert, Ryan and Jonathan, his sisters Anne (Wayne Turner), Toronto and Susan, Los Angeles. Billy was the loved companion and partner of Karen Imbeau. Bart passed away at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus on Monday, December 19th, 2005 in his 92nd year. He was predeceased by his first wife Genevieve Mallon, by his parents Laure Belle Masters and Josiah Taylor Hazelton, brothers Douglas Graydon Masters Hazelton, William Messenger Hazelton and sister Kathryne Welton Reykdal Hazelton. He is survived by his second wife Mora Patricia Fraser, stepdaughters Judy Fraser and Susan Dostal and stepgrandchildren Eddie and Christa Dostal and many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his loving nephew Brian Mallon and his family. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 from 7 to 9pm and Friday, December 23rd from 10am until service in the Chapel at 11am. On December 14, 2005, Cathy McIlraith, 61 years. Daughter of the late Margaret and Hon. George J. McIlraith of Ottawa. Much loved sister of Mary Margaret McIlraith and George E McIlraith, and predeceased by her sister Janet (Galligan). Will be fondly remembered as 'Aunty Cathy' by her loving nieces and nephews: Cathy, Ken, Julia, and Geoff Sproule and Margaret Galligan, as well as 6 grandnephews. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod St, on Friday, December 16th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.. A service to commemorate Cathy's life will be held at in the chapel on Saturday, December 17th at 11:30am. At the Ottawa General Hospital on Monday, December 12, 2005. Born May 22, 1914, she was predeceased by her dear parents William McTeer and Florence Driscoll and her brothers John and Charles. She is survived by her loving brother Bill and his wife Betty of Grand Bend, Ontario and her two sisters-in-law Beatrice and Jean. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Bill, Colleen, Maureen, Patricia, Pamela, Jane, John and Marc; her great-nieces and nephews Travis, Joshua, Brendan, Gordon, Todd, John, Catherine, Angela, Nathalee, Kyle, Scott, Leah, Samantha and Jessica and great-great-niece Gabrielle. Mary was an avid skier and curler and worked for a private engineering firm and then for many years in the federal department of Public Works. After retiring, she was active in her church and volunteering with the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa on Thursday, December 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. and on Friday, December 16 from 11-12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Patrick's Basilica, 220 Kent St. (at Nepean), Ottawa, at 1:30 p.m. Private interment Notre Dame cemetery. Peacefully in hospital on December 19, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, aged 73. Beloved husband for 52 years of Terry (Fern) Sullivan. Dear father of Timothy (Jenny), Paul (Hélcne), Danny, Cindy and Robin. He will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren whom he adored, Cody, Mathieu, Eric, Thia and Justin. Dear brother of Freda and Thomas. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Paul will now be joining his parents Wilfred and Ada, and his brothers Riley, Hilary and John Marc, as well as his sister Theresa.
