He was born in Brownlee, Saskatchewan in 1920. Grew up in Calgary & Edmonton where he attended the University of Alberta until joining his regiment Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians). Died peacefully Sunday, February 26 at the age of 66 after fighting a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Frechette; his three children, Eric, Mark and Chantal; his five grandchildren, Chloe, Ciaran, Jessica, Alex and Adam; and many other friends and relatives, including Helen Wood and JP Wood. He is predeceased by his loving sister, Caroline Frasell. Son of Cress and Vera Newman, Ted was born in Campbellford, Ontario, which is where his ashes will rest. He enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer, and his favourite pursuits included hunting, fishing, spending time in the wilderness, and relaxing with family and friends. Peacefully with dignity at the Empress Kanata (Ottawa) on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Platt) for 62 years. Dear father to Claire Davis (Jack), Gary (Janet) and Dianne. Loving grandfather to Sarah, Andrew, Jennifer, Katie and Laura. Born in Montreal on May 1, 1918 to Malcolm and Florence (Reilly) Roberts. Pre-deceased by his brother Malcolm and his sister Dorothy. Ed was President and General Manager of Mount Royal Press Ltd. in Montreal until 1963. He joined the Federal Public Service in 1964. He was appointed Director General of the Canadian Government Printing Bureau in 1970, which carries the title of Queen's Printer for Canada, and is the first honorary life member of the Queen's Printers Association of Canada. Ed was the recipient of many awards from associations such as the Graphic Arts Industries Association (President 1956-1958; honorary life member), Employing Printers Association of Montreal (Past President), Montreal Club-International Association of Printing House Craftsman (past Director, honorary life member), Jacee International (sixth Senator). In 1980 Ed was nominated for the Order of Canada. In his retirement Ed divided his time between Ottawa, New Smyrna Beach, Florida and his cottage at Lake Louisa, Quebec. He loved to golf, read and spend time with family and friends. Our family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Cross, Dr. Eapen, Dr. Hurdon, Dr. Coulombe, the V.O.N. and At Home Hospice nurses and the very kind staff of Empress Kanata. Peacefully at Carleton Lodge on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 in his 83rd year. Son of the late Harold and the late Eva Serson. Brother of the late Harold Jr. (Ada and the late Barbara Hornyansky) and Elizabeth Serson (the late John A. and the late Harry Johnson). Dearly beloved husband of Margaret E. Reid (nee Peggy Garnham) and step-father to Michael, Becky (Glenn), Margaret (Bruce) and John (Ellen). Loving grandfather to Kevin, Reid, Sarah, Rachel, James and Keith. He will be sadly missed by nieces Terry, Robin, Karen and nephew Ragnar and many cousins in the area. Paul started his career at the Dominion Observatory and became Director of the Division of Geomagnetism, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. He and his colleagues developed the Airborne Magnetometer and many other scientific inventions. Paul was also a great lover of music and played violin and viola taking part in many community quartets. Paul retired in 1981 and spent the last 6 years of his life in a nursing home.
