Peacefully at his residence at Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin on Friday evening, March 14th, 2003, at the age of 76 years, Ken Bowes of Port Elgin, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Wilkinson. Ken is survived by his sister-in-law Patricia Bowes, and by niece Doris Meacham and her husband Don of Wiarton, and by nephew Dick Bowes of Louisville, Kentucky. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Dorothy Smith, Marie Strachan, Roy Bowes, Cliff Bowes, and Nadean Chapman. Ken will be especially missed by close friends Rachel and John MacDonald.

Suddenly at his residence on Monday, March 3rd, 2003, Harvey Roppel of Port Elgin. Beloved husband for 56 years of the former Ruby Shantz, he is also survived by his sister-in-law Jessie Roppel of Port Elgin, many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his family and will be missed by the Shantz family. Harvey is predeceased by his parents John and Mary (Schwass) Roppel, brothers Clifford and Clarence, sisters Leta Henkenhaf, Melinda Ortman, and Clara Buchanan. Mr. Roppel was a member of the Port Elgin United Church for 43 years.
