In Southampton on Monday, August 4th, 2003, at the age of 84 years, Gerry Bicknell of Port Elgin. Born in Manitoba on May 14th, 1919 to Howard and Hester Bicknell. Following graduation in Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Mr. Bicknell followed a career for 38 years with CPR. Husband of Annie Elizabeth Bicknell for 57 years. Father of Linda and her husband Dave Mason of Port Elgin, and Frank Bicknell and his wife Sue of Queensbury, New York. Brother of Alice Perkins of Clearlake Highlands, California. Grandfather of Sean Bicknell, and Andrew and Adrienne Mason. He is also survived by his grand-niece Maureen Rinnt and her husband Derek, his grand-grand-niece Anna Rinnt, and many nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and California. Predeceased by his sisters Hester, Margaret, and Maude, and by his brothers John, George, Ernest, Donald, Oswald, Stanley, Edward, Leonard, and Allan. Mr. Bicknell loved carpentry and all sports; especially golf, curling, softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, basketball, billiards, swimming, and water skiing. He was an avid member of curling clubs in Kentville, N.S., Sherbrooke, Quebec, Clagary, Alberta, and White Rock, B.C. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII as a navigator in England and Burma Road, India.
A private graveside service will be held at Sanctuary Park cemetery , Port Elgin with Pastor Bob Johnston officiating.
