Walter Winters

Born April 23rd, 1920 in Halifax, Nova Scotia died May 28th, 2003 in Southampton, Ontario. Predeceased by his wife Claire. Dear father of Kristanne. Will be missed by nephews and nieces Gary, Anne, Leslie, and Drew, and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin, on Saturday, June 7th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Margaret Chambers

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Tuesday, May 27th, 2003 in her 86th year, the former Margaret Dawson of Port Elgin. Wife of the late James Chambers. Daughter of the late Frank and May Dawson. Mother of Marlene Searle of Paris, and Allan and his wife Margaret of Wasaga Beach. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Robert Sumpton, Shirley and her husband Rob Lawlor, Derick Searle and his wife Kelly, Karen and her husband Chris Warren, Jeffrey Chambers and his wife Michelle, and Susan Chambers and her friend Ian Rankin, three great-grandchildren Bradley and Jason Lawlor, and Tracy Searle, and by several nieces and nephews. Sister of Walter and his wife Joyce of Trail, B.C. and the late Robert Dawson.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon Williams officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Willard Metcalf

At the Walkerton Hospital on Friday, May 23rd, 2003 at the age of 82 years, Willard Metcalf of R.R. #2, Cargill. Husband of the former Phyllis McConnell. Father of Eric and his wife Delores of Cargill, and Cheryl and her husband Michael Swirklis of Kincardine. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marcella and Maxwell Swirklis, and Tyler, Corey, and Logan Metcalf.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Paisley Chapel, 216 Queen St.S., Paisley from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral service will be conducted in the Pinkerton United Church on Monday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Murray Rounding officiating.

Interment Purdy cemetery.

Minnie Swick

At Park Lane Terrace Nursing Home, Paris on Monday, May 19th, 2003 at the age of 86 years, the former Minnie Parker of Port Elgin. Wife of the late Clifford Swick, Father of Iva and Joe Teslak of Brantford, Bill and Isabelle Swick of Virginia, Joe and Millie Swick of Southampton, Edna Surridge of Port Colborne, and Sherry and Garry Winnitoy of Brantford. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Stella Karcher, and her son-in-law Mervin Surridge.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Cotie officiating.

Lloyd "Mac" MacArthur

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Monday, May 19th, 2003 at the age of 59 years, Mac MacArthur of Port Elgin. Friend and loving husband of the former Judy Irwin. “Best Dad” of Jen and her husband Mike Moulton of Bruce Township, Darren and his significant other Kelly Doelman, and Janelle, all of Port Elgin. He is also survived by his father Alex of Port Elgin, brother-in-law Jim Irwin and his wife Candy of Bruce Township and their children Glenda and Kyle and their families. He is predeceased by his son Kirk, mother Ruby, and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Doris Irwin.

Hans "Clancy" Claeren

At his residence on Monday, May 19th, 2003 at the age of 52 years, Hans “Clancy” Claeren of Port Elgin. Son of Tineke Claeren of London and the late Adrian Claeren. Brother of Robert “Scruff” and his wife Edye of Port Elgin, George and his wife Patricia of Calgary, Patrick, Ingrid, and Saskia and her husband Jim McHugh, all of London. Uncle to Casey, Adrian, Benjamin, Lucas, Travis, Michael C., Josie, Tracy, Michael W., and Kristie. He is predeceased by his sister Michelle.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Southampton on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Father Mike Francis as celebrant.

Losch, Beatrice

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Wednesday, May 7th, 2003 at the age of 98 years, Bea Losch of Hampton Court and formerly of Port Elgin. She is survived by her extended family Cleo and Dale DeCoppell of Port Elgin and their children Jeryn and Calyssa-Rae, Dean Symons and his wife Sue of Tillsonburg and their children Brooke and Brandi, and Kerry Darcy of Port Elgin. Predeceased by her parents, one sister, three brothers, and her good friend Pat Symons.

Funeral service will be conducted at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) on Friday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gordon Williams officiating. Interment Hanover cemetery. Memorial contributions to Hampton Court Resident’s Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Kollontay, Kashmier

Suddenly in Toronto on Saturday, May 3rd, 2003 in his 55th year. Kashmier was a graduate of Ryerson University and a long time employee of the CBC. He will be sadly missed by his mother Sophia, brother Stanley and his wife Ann of Southampton, sisters Mary and her husband Lee Stokley of London, Joanne Howe of Port Elgin, Krystyna Kollontay and her friend Jéan of Toronto. He was a special uncle to Jeffery, Kelly, Marnie, Michelle, Quinn, and Cara Beth. Companion to Bob the dog. Predeceased by his father John (1982) and brother-in-law Jack Howe (1999). A good friend to many, Kashmier will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of sports, good food and wine.

A celebration of Kashmier’s life will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Father Mike Francis officiating.

Stanley, Dorothy

At her home, Hillside Park Retirement Residence, Elliot Lake, on Wednesday, April 16th. 2003, in her 88th year, the former Dorothy Leona Gottschalk. Wife of the late Bill Stanley and the late Elmer Pollock. She is survived by her son Ross (Norma) Pollock of Elliot Lake, and by her daughter Lois (Bob) Gardhouse of Sauble Beach. Also survived by six grandchildren, David Pollock of Spanish, Garry (Carol) Pollock of Elliot Lake, Steven (Jean) Pollock of Brampton, Kim (Dave) Gardhouse of Toronto, Robbie Gardhouse of Vancouver, B.C., and Tracy Gardhouse of Mission, B.C., three great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Rachel Currie of Port Elgin.

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Tuesday, May 6th, 2003 at the age of 62 years, Nick Tombros of Port Elgin. Husband of the former Audrey McCarrel. Father of Peter of Toronto and Jim of Port Elgin. Son-in-law of Edna McCarrel of Port Elgin. Brother-in-law of Al and Kathy McCarrel, Murray and Kim McCarrel, and Marilyn and Ron Underwood, all of Port Elgin. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Wednesday, May 7th, 2003 at the age of 65 years, Bob Woods of Port Elgin. Loving husband of Shirley Marie Brown. Dad of Jim of Port Elgin, and Debra and her husband Geoff Harrison of Kitchener. Brother of Maurice and Evelyn Woods of Niagara Falls, and Harvey and Earleen Woods of Evertt. Grandfather of Kaitlyn and Connor Harrison. Stepfather to Carol and Rob Bradfield of Southampton, Les Brown and Jen of Wiarton, Lillian Swandt and Len of Parkhead, Lenette Brown and Jim of Listowel and their families. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He his predeceased by the children’s mother Shirley, his sisters Alice Burbidge and Agnes Young, and his brothers Thomas and Charlie.
