Kenneth Atkinson

At his residence on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003, at the age of 65 years, Ken Atkinson of Port Elgin. Father of Tim and Tom, both of Port Elgin. He is also survived by his sister Audrey, brother Bobby, and brother-in-law Ivan, all of Hamilton.

Funeral service will be conducted at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Margaret Greenhow officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park cemetery , Port Elgin.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Emma Darlington

At her residence, Saugeen First Nation, on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003, at the age of 68 years, the former Emma John. Wife of Les Darlington. Mother of Darlene Hunter, Philip Nashkewa and Irene, Ronald Nashkewa and his wife Linda, Mario Darlington and Judy Darlington, all of Guelph. Grandma to Paul and Donna St. Jules. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Cierra. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers, and sisters.

Friends may call at her residence, 115 Keewaydin Dr. at Scotch Settlement, Saugeen First Nation, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral service will be conducted in Saugeen Pentecostal Church, Scotch Settlement on Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Philip Ritchie officiating.

Interment Southampton cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Simone Day (Verdun, nee Piche)

Simone Day passed away peacefully at Saugeen Memorial Hospital, Southampton, Ontario on November 30th, 2003, at the age of 86. Born in Verner, Ontario September 17th, 1917, dear daughter of Alexina Boisvert and Jules Piche, both predeceased. Cherished wife of John Day and predeceased by first husband Camille Verdun. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Roger (Karen) Verdun of Vernon, B.C., Michael (Magda) Verdun of Keswick, one daughter, Gisele Whiteman (Richard) of Dorset, one stepson Peter (Carolyn) Day of Southampton, Mike (predeceased) (and Nellie) Day of Sault Ste. Marie . Dear sister of Dora (Ed) Begin (predeceased) of Sudbury and Lorenzo (Zozo) of London England (predeceased), sister-in-law of Oscar and Flo Boyer and son Gerry (predeceased). Lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews in Sudbury - Pat (Ron) Kenyon, Jean (Bill) Williams, Susan, Rita, Rollande and Jeanette, Ray (Donna) Boyer, and their children. Loved by her grandchildren - Danny (Angela) of Union Bay, B.C., Richard (Fiona) of Brampton, Kevin (Bonnie) of Ottawa, Candice and Trevor of Toronto and Kasper of Keswick; and her five great-grandchildren - Camille, Renee, Kieran, Cameron and Anthea.

Simone was a pioneer with the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 225 of the Canadian Legion in Sturgeon Falls and the Musee Sturgeon River House Museum and was very fondly remembered for her years of dedicated service at Gervais Restaurant, Sturgeon Falls. As she was blind when she left us, in lieu of flowers, Simone asked that donations be made to the Bruce County Public Library for her favorite thing - talking books.

A family funeral service of remembrance will be held at the W. Kent Milroy Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin.

A la douce mémoire de Simone Day, qui est décédée paisiblement
à l'Hôpital Saugeen Memorial a Southampton, le 30 novembre à l'âge de 86 ans. Née à Verner, le 17 septembre 1917, fille bien-aimée de (feux) Alexina Boisvert et Jules Piché. Tendre épouse de John Day et de son premier époux (feu) Camille Verdun. Simone était une mère dévouée qui manquera beaucoup à ses 2 fils, Roger (Karen) Verdun de Vernon, B.C., Michael (Magda)Verdun de Keswick, une fille, Gisèle, née Verdun, Whiteman (Richard) de Dorset, deux beau-fils, Peter(Carolyn) Day de Southampton et Nellie (feu) Mike Day de Sault Ste. Marie. Précédée par une soeur Dora (Ed) Begin de Sudbury et un frère Lorenzo (Zozo) de Londres, Angleterre, une belle-soeur Flo (Oscar) Boyer et leur fils Gerard. Son souvenir restera gravé dans la memoire des nièces et neveux de Sudbury, - Pat (Ron) Kenyon, Jean Williams (Bill), Susan, Rita, Rollande et Jeanette, née Boyer, Ray (Donna) Boyer, et leurs enfants.
Ses petits-enfants sont Danny (Angela) Verdun de Union Bay, B.C., Richard (Fiona) Day de Brampton, Kevin (Bonnie) de Ottawa, Candice et Trevor de Toronto et Kasper de Keswick . Ses arrière petits-enfants sont Camille, Renée, Kieran, Cameron et Anthea.

Simone était à la fois première avec les Dames Auxiliaires de la Branche 225 de la Legion Candianne de Sturgeon Falls et avec le projet du Musee Sturgeon River House Museum. On se souviendra d'elle aussi pour ses années de travail au restaurant Gervais . Au lieu des fleurs, la famille désire que les dons soient offerts à la bibliotèque publique de Southampton pour les livres parlants, un intéret spécial de Simone.

La direction des funérailles fut confiée à la Maison funéraire W. Kent Milroy, 510 rue Mill, Port Elgin.

Carol Juoni

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Friday, November 28th, 2003, at the age of 61 years, the former Carol Smylie. Wife of the late Simo Juoni. Mother of Peter and his wife Shelly of Chatsworth. Grandma of Mckayla, Kirsten and Collin. Daughter of Vera Smylie of Timmins and the late James Smylie. Sister of Jim Smylie and his wife Lorraine of Timmins, and Bob Smylie and his wife Diane of British Columbia. She is also survived by her five nephews.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Paisley Chapel, 216 Queen St. South, Paisley, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday evening. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday morning, December 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon Williams officiating.

Interment Paisley cemetery.

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Thursday, November 27th, 2003, at the age of 73 years, John Roche of Port Elgin. Husband and best friend of Susan Roche. Stepfather of Lloyd Moggy and his wife Tracey of Alberta, Pamela and her husband Andy Jones of Essex, Ontario, Dean Moggy and his wife Tanya, Alan Moggy and his wife Tracey, all of Alberta. Much loved Poppa of Adrienne, Erin, Rebekah, Greg, Angelina, Alyssa, Parker, Anita, Andrea, Matt, and Cody.

At the London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus on Monday, November 24th, 2003, at the age of 68 years, Jim “Chicken” Elliott of Port Elgin. Loving father of Kim Elliott of California, Randy, and Sean and his wife Brandy all of Barrie. Loving grandfather of seven grandchildren. Son of Elsie Elliott of Calgary, Alberta. He is predeceased by his son Billy Elliott and by his father Forrest Elliott.

Norma Kraft

At the Southampton Care Centre, Southampton on Monday, November 24th, 2003, at the age of 78 years, the former Norma Cressman of Port Elgin and formerly of Kitchener. Loving wife of Owen Kraft. Dear mother of Cheryl and her husband Rene Prattis, and grandmother of Tyler Prattis all of Port Elgin. She is also survived by her siblings, Bill Cressman and his wife Helen, Bob Cressman and his wife Ruth, Pat and her husband Joe Taylor, Bev Hauck, Marg Schultz all of the K-W area, Diane Dalton of Toronto, Janet Jadeski of Vancouver, BC, Carol Gatreau of Calgary and Lenore Petit of Detroit. Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Doyle, Virginia Karn and Joan Tanner.

Funeral service will be conducted at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel, 51 Benton Street, Kitchener, on Friday, November 28th, at 1.00 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship in the Reception Room.

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton on Thursday, November 20th, 2003, at the age of 85 years, Stella Granville of Port Elgin. Mother of Audrey Becker of Port Elgin. Grandmother of Deborah and her husband Terry Mills of Tara, Margaret and her husband Rick Schell, and Paul and his wife Christina, all of Port Elgin. Great-grandmother of Jeffery and Keri Mills, Jared and Kayla Schell, and David, Matthew, Teila, and Brianne Becker. Sister of Eva Wyonch of Tobermory, and Dolly and her husband Bob Ladd of Calgary. Survived also by one grand-daughter-in-law Diane Becker of Port Elgin. Predeceased by her son-in-law Jack Becker and by her grandson John Becker.

A private family graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Bob Johnston at St. Patrick’s cemetery , Southampton.

Loving Mother of David Batley and his wife Tessa of Whitecourt, Alberta, Doug Flowers and his wife Janis of Mississauga, and Brad Flowers and his wife Kathy of Toronto. Gramma of Vanessa and Geoffrey Batley and Erin and Zoe Flowers. She will also be missed by her cousin Alison Davis and her family of England.
