Tom was a lifetime resident of Welland, and worked for over 40 years at Atlas Steels, retiring in 1978. Dear brother of Lydia Hrenchuk (and her late husband Fred) of Chippawa, Jim Hering and his wife Davolyn, Margaret Millar (and her late husband Jack), Frances Hering, Ruth and John Hildebrant, Evelyn and Bob Game all of St. Catharines, the late Frank Hering (January 10, 1999) and his late wife Patricia (October 11, 1995) and the late Irene Woods. Dear brother-in-law of Russell Woods and Michael Walker both of St. Catharines. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces. Willy retired as a set-up in the drive train of Hayes Dana in October 1986. He built the family home for Florence and their children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and built a cottage for his family on Lake Skootamatta. There, he and Flo made many friends who will miss him. Snow in the winter did not keep him indoors. He would go out on his tractor and clean his neighbours driveways. In his younger days when friends were building their own homes, he was there to help. You could count on Will if you needed him. Tragically as the result of an accident, in Welland, on Friday October 18th 2002. Jordan Peter Haag, of Welland, in his 17th year. Beloved son of Susan and Peter Haag of Welland and dear brother of Adam Haag at home. Beloved grandson of Norma Alsop of St. Catharines and the late Donald Alsop and the late Auguste and Otto Haag. Also loved by his aunt Doris Marilyn Haag of Niagara Falls, Alan and Janis Alsop of North Carolina and Beth and Mark Krupa of Prince Edward Island. Survived by his cousins Jennifer, Gordon, Hillary and Taylor. Jordan was involved in many school activities at Centennial Secondary School and a valued employee of Zellers since September 2001. Jordan will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Cremation has taken place. Miss Mildred Marguerite Leavens
at the Schoellkopf Health Centre in Niagra Falls, New York, on Saturday October 19th 2002, in her 95th year. Born in Acton, Ontario, she lived most of her life in Niagara Falls, New York, where she trained as a registered nurse. During World War II she served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp in England and Germany. She retired as a registered nurse from Memorial Medical Centre in 1973 after 42 years of service. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Ford and her husband Henry of Baysville, a sister Edna of Fonthill, a sister-in-law Marjorie Leavens of Stoney Creek, a brother-in-law Gerry Stortz of Welland as well as neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Marguerite is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Ileen, Edward, Florence, Violet, Fred and Charles. Mrs Kathleen Patricia "Pierce" Harvey
Peacefully in her sleep at West Oak Village, Oakville, on October 26, 2002, in her 71st year. She was predeceased by her husband Gerry in 1992. Pat is survived by her daughter Kathy, Her son David, and his wife Vicki and their three children Benjamin, Jillian and Joseph, and by her sisters Winnie Cumming, Helen Shackleton, her brothers Roy, Bob and Bernard Pierce. A special thanks to all her wonderful friends, and to the staff at Shorthills Villa, Fonthill, whose kindness and caring were so evident over the past few years. Vistiation will be at the JAMES L. Mildred Emma Edwards
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved wife, mother and grandmother. Mildred Emma Edwards, of Fonthill, passed away peacefully at Sunset Haven, Welland, November 11th 2002 in her 84th year. Mildred was the beloved and much cherished companion of Clifford. married July 4th, 1942, they shared more than 60 years together and even that seems much too short. She will be deeply missed by her daughters Darlene Edwards and Shelly Tonelli (husband Tony). She was a loving grandmother to Lisa Hall (husband Lonnie Langille), Joseph Hall and Christina Hall and a truly great-grandmother to Jacob Langille. Mildred was born in Mount Hope, Ontario and was the oldest of 8 children. She will be missed by her brothers Cliiford (Marie) Wilson, Lloyd (Elizabeth) Wilson and Roger (Jean) Wilson. She was predeceased by her brothers Don, Leverne and Wray Wilson and sister Audrey Cumming. Also saddened are her brothers-in-law, George Cumming and Wallace Edwards and sister-in-law Arlene Wilson. Mildred leaves behind several nieces and nephews and will be particularly missed by her special great-nieces Candice and Courtney Wilson. Mildred was a great supporter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, active in fundraisers and raising public awareness. She was also a valued member of the Meals on Wheels program and dedicated more than 30 years to serving the communities where she lived. Mildred was a devoted member of the Fonthill United Church, where she developed many cherished friendships. She will be missed at Sunday services and church functions. Also important to Mildred were her four cats, Bill, Jill, P.C. and Jake. They brought her much happiness and always made her smile. We invite friends and relatives to join us at the JAMES L.
