Donald James Cheal Fleming

FLEMING, Donald James Cheal - (D.F.C., BSc Metallurgy Queen's, B.A. History Trent, P. Eng.) - Died at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Hospital Drive on October 18, 2006 in his 84th year. Beloved and devoted husband of Margaret for 57 years. Loving and supportive father of James Fleming (Carol) and Pamela McKendrick (Stuart). Proud grandfather of Douglas McKendrick, Sonja Storey-Fleming, Emily McKendrick, Laura Storey-Fleming and Brian Storey-Fleming. Donald served during WWII in the R.C.A.F. Bomber Command, R.A.F. Squadron 103, and was recently inducted into the Canadian Hall of Valour. After returning from the war Donald earned an engineering degree at Queen's which led to a challenging career in metallurgy. While at Queen's he met his lifelong partner, Margaret. He was a member of the Avro Arrow engine design team and a pioneer in Canadian Nuclear Power at G.E. Canada. He was a member of the Fortnightly Club, Peterborough United Services Institute, Probus Club of Peterborough, and served on the Peterborough Public Library Board for many years. Donald was a life-long learner, and avid historian who earned his degree in History during retirement. He enjoyed extensive world travel, bridge, theatre and, in former years, skiing and sailing. Special thanks to Dr. John Beamish for his exceptional compassion and care in recent years and to the staff of the Intensive Care Unit for bringing comfort to Donald during his stay in hospital. Service arrangements to be published Friday, October 20th.

James Leon

LEON, James John – On Wednesday October 18, 2006 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Rebecca. Cherished father of Mary Ann (Barry Nowoselski), Jim (Tina), John and Joe (Bridget). Much loved grandfather of Christine, Andrew, Stephanie, Daniel, Jacqueline, Rebecca, Megan, Matthew and Emma. James was predeceased by his brothers Fred and Norman. He is survived by his brother Abel (Joan), his sisters-in-law Betty and Nancy, and his sisters Lena and husband Dr. Zenon Kiss and Marion and husband Bill Timmins. The family will receive friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where a prayer vigil will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Parish Community of St. Kevin on Saturday at 10:30 am. Rite of Committal in Holy Cross cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation, Hamilton, in gratitude for the many months of dedicated and respectful care that James received from Dr. Hanmiah and the exceptionally caring nurses of the CTU at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton.

Larry Faubert

FAUBERT, Larry - At his residence on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Larry Edouard Faubert of York Street; age 55 years. Special friend of Trish Sandford. Dear son of the late Henry Edouard Faubert and the late Lucy Marion (Roach) Faubert. Dear brother on Ann Poirier (Hubert) and Nancy Tyo (Kenneth) both of Apple Hill and Debra Poirier (Peter) of Monkland. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Resting at the Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932- 8482) from 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral Saturday, October 21, 2006 for Service in the Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. followed by cremation. The family will be in attendance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral on Saturday. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Joseph Bujnowski

BUJNOWSKI, Joseph Veteran of WWII for the Polish Army Retired Alcan Employee Peacefully at Rideaucrest on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 in his 92nd year. Sadly missed by his step-son Raymond Ochab, his wife Joan and their daughter Sharon. Friends will be received at the Central Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 49 Colborne Street (at Clergy) on Monday from 12 noon, until 1 p.m. Liturgy of the Word Service will be held in our chapel at 1 p.m. on Monday. Rite of Committal with Prayers following at Cataraqui cemetery. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Rideaucrest, 4th floor. Dorothy Neamtz

NEAMTZ, Dorothy – Formerly of Welland , suddenly at her residence, Millennium Trail Manor, Niagara Falls, on Thursday, October 12, 2006, in her 81st year. Cherished wife for 57 years to William Neamtz who resides at Millennium Trail Manor. Beloved mother of Shirley Michaels (Joel) of Grand Island, N.Y. Loving grandmother of David & Robert Michaels. Loved sister of Norman A. Barnes of St. Catharines. Predeceased by parents Frederick & Annie Barnes and her infant brother. Cremation has taken place. Brenda (Bowes) Thomas

THOMAS, Brenda (Bowes) - passed away very peacefully at her residence on Thursday, October 19th 2006 Brenda (Bowes) Thomas of Fonthill in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Tom Thomas (1998) and loving mother of David Thomas (Debra Meyer) of West Vancouver, B.C., Tom Thomas (Dorie) of Fonthill, Shan Thomas and Cynthia Mangan (John) all of Prince George, B.C., and Tracey Spruyt (Andy) of Fonthill. She will be greatly missed by her 7 loving grandchildren; Ali, Ashley, Samantha, Jim, Evan, Ryan, Sean, and her extended family and friends from near and far. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Welland Hospital for their excellent care while mom was a patient. Cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Fonthill cemetery on Tuesday, October 24th 2006 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Canon David Browning officiating. As an expression memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Niagara Pennisula Children's Centre. Predeceased by two brothers, George and Emil Iwachniuk and by two sisters, Ann White and Victoria Sinkevitch. Also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A private graveside service was held in Rideau Memorial Gardens, Montreal, QC on Friday, October 20, 2006. of Fonthill, in his 45th year. Beloved husband of Dawn (Gallant) Knox. Loving father of Justin, Kevin and Kyle all at home. Dear son of Henriette Knox of Thornhill (and her late husband Bill Knox). Also loved by his brother William "Bill" and Nancy Knox and their son Robert of Brampton and his aunt Georgette McDonough of Thornhill. Survived by his parents-in-law George and Trudy Gallant of St. Catharines, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dana and Ken VanAlstine and their sons Evan and Cole of Welland. There will be no funeral home visitation. A private family service to be conducted in the chapel of the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME - DIXON CHAPEL, 1292 Pelham Street Fonthill, on Friday February 27th 2004. Interment Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Thorold. Mr. Samuel John Dickson

Delivered safely and peacefully into the presence of his Saviour, in his 96th year, at Rapelje Lodge on Thursday February 26th 2004. Also reunited with his beloved wife and best friend, Dorothy (1997). Dearly loved father of Kathleen Borisenko (Neville) of Welland and John Dickson (Deborah) of Kemptville. Loving grandfather of Scott and Craig Dickson of Kemptville. Ritchie Borisenko (Maria) of Mississauga; Shelley Fazekas (Frank) of Dixon, California and Steven Borisenko (Nicole) of Welland. Proud great-grandfather of Caitland Fazekas and Joshua Martin; Aislinn and Cameron Borisenko, Connor Borisenko and Jacob Borisenko. Mr. Dickson is also survived by one sister, Minnie Quinn, who resides in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David. Also loved and sadly missed by Tracey Borisenko and Yoko Miele. Mr. Dickson was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He and his family came to Canada in 1952. He was a church organist whose music blessed the hearts of those who listened. He played by the words, not just the music and always to honour the One he believed in with all his heart. He and his wife led many choirs over the years both in Belfast and in Canada. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Sunday February 29th at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME - DIXON CHAPEL, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill. The funeral service will be held from First Baptist Church, 165 Sydney Place, Welland on Monday March 1st 2004 at 1:30 pm. with Pastor Rene Brochu from First Baptist and Rev. Bob Baddeley from Bethany Community Church in St. Catharines will be officiating. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery. Memorial donations to Rapelje Lodge would be appreciated by the family. KING, Royce F. “Roy” - Peacefully in hospital in Ottawa, Friday, October 20, 2006. Roy King age 49. Beloved husband of Ann King (nee Joyce). COLTERMAN, John Mervin (Former Employee of the City of Kingston) - Peacefully at home, Carleton Place, Ontario with his sisters at his side, early Saturday morning, October 21st, 2006 at age 68. John Mervin Colterman survived by his two daughters and three sisters. At John's request there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.
