Alfred Douglas Atkinson

ATKINSON, Alfred Douglas - Peacefully at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Sunday, October 15th, 2006 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Joy (nee - Cooper) of Belleville and father of Bradley Atkinson and wife Kathy of Ajax, and Douglas Atkinson of Orillia. Loving step- father to Lynda Rollins of Belleville and John Charlton, wife Laureen, of Salt Spring Island, B.C. Loving grandfather to Caitlin, Ashleigh, David, Laurel, Jesse, Melissa, Melanie, Trevor and four great- grandchildren. Alf was the only son of five children parented by the late George and Minnie Atkinson of Toronto. He was predeceased by his four sisters Marjorie, Alice, Elsie and Margaret. Alf was a WWII D-Day Veteran. A private cremation will take place, with interment of remains to be held at the Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert, Ontario (near Port Perry), at a later date. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Quinte Access Centre, Red Cross Home Care, V.O.N., West Lake Terrace, and the P.E.C. Memorial Hospital for their kindness and great care. Arrangements in the care of JOHN R. BUSH FUNERAL HOME (613- 968-5588).

Janet R. (Nettie) McElwain

MCELWAIN - Janet R. (Nettie) - passed away peacefully at the Sara Vista Nursing Centre, Elmvale on Monday, October 16, 2006. Nettie McElwain, in her 101st year. Beloved wife of the late Russell McElwain. Dear sister of the late Agnes (Nanny) Hopkins, Matt and Jim Hopkins. Nettie will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the LYNN- STONE FUNERAL HOME, Elmvale from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday, October 20 at 2 p.m. Interment Elmvale cemetery. Memorial Donations to Knox-Flos Church, the Friends of Sara Vista of the charity or your choice would be appreciated.

Devoted and loving mother to Darrell Wood and his partner Catherine Umphrey of Richmond Hill and Donna and her husband Wayne Smith of Kingston. Proud grandmother of Lacey Smith and her husband Allan Monk of Kingston. Dear sister of Gladys Taillon (Gananoque), George Sly (Waverly, Nova Scotia) and Beatrice Hansen (Port Clinton, Ohio), dear sister in law of Colin and Joan Cherry (Kingston) and Olivia and Geoff Thornburn (Victoria, B.C.), Aunt and great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Lester Sly (1981) and Beatrice Spraggs (1937). Also predeceased in 2002 by her beloved Schnauser Rudi. Will be fondly remembered by the Smith and Sedore families with whom she celebrated many happy occasions over the years and her 'special daughter' Joanne Salamone. Friends will be received at the TOWNSHIP CHAPEL OF GORDON F. TOMPKINS, 435 Davis Drive (Taylor Kidd Blvd at Centennial Drive) on Tuesday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:00 am. Interment Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to The Kidney Foundation or The Kingston Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
