vON BARGEN, ANNI (nee Kunze) - Passed away
peacefully at West Park Health Centre in St. Catharines on
Wednesday, February 2, 2005. Predeceased by her
husband Henry in 1986, and a son Dieter in 1974. She is
survived by her children, Mrs. Ilse Schmidt (Hugo 2001) of
Guelph, Mrs. Leo Steinnagel (Anna-Lisa) of Hamilton, Mrs.
Rolf Peters (Christa) of St. Catharines, Mrs. Siegfried
Zessig (Elfriede) of Acton, Mr. Henry von Bargen (Irene) of
St. Anns and Mrs. Frank Keller (Heike) of
Niagara-on-the-Lake. Also survived by 20 grandchildren
and great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A
private family service will be held at a later date.

ACTON, DORIS: Peacefully, at Albright Manor in Beamsville
on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, Doris Martha Acton,
previously of Smithville, in her 92nd year. Doris was the
dearly loved sister of the late Mildred Dyment (2001),
Norma Wright (1986) and Harold Acton (1984). She is
survived by many nieces and nephews and will be especially
missed by Mrs. Gordon Jones (Doreen) of Niagara Falls,
James Dyment of Niagara Falls and Jean Acton of Smithville.
Doris was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ.
The funeral service was led by Chris Nicholson at Merritt
Funeral Home in Smithville on Saturday, December 17, 2005
at 2:00 pm with Chris Nicholson officiating. Ruth Griffin
was the organist. Interment Smithville United Church
cemetery . Pallbearers were James Dyment, Chris Nicholson,
Cale Fairchild, Craig Fairchild, James Sullivan and
Glenn Williams. If desired, memorial contributions to
the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the
family.

CHOVANCE, WILLIAM: With family by his side, on
Monday, May 23, 2005, William (Bill) Stephen Chovance of
Caistor Centre, in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of
Jeanette Chovance (nee Bluhm) for 47 years. Loving
father of Brenda and Robert Vincent, Barbara and Steve
Fisher, Terry and Cindy Chovance, and Steven Chovance
and Karen Koski. Cherished grandpa of Keeley, Cory,
Michael, Spencer, Haley, Riley and Blake. Dear brother of
Louis and Betty Chovance, Tony and Donna Chovance,
and Rosie and Joe Giovannetti. Predeceased by his sister
Amelia Giovannetti, brother John Benyuski and sister Julia
Benyuski. Friends may call at Merritt Funeral Home, 287
Station Street, Smithville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2005
at 11 am at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church,
Smithville. Interment at the church's adjoining cemetery.
Special thanks to all the caregivers who helped fulfill Bill's
wish to remain at home during his illness. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or Dunnville
Hospital and Healthcare Foundation would be appreciated
by the family and can be made through the funeral home.

CORNELL, WESLEY: Suddenly, on Sunday, November 6,
2005, as a result of a tragic accident, Wesley Raymond
Cornell of Caistor Centre, in his 20th year. Beloved son of
David and Kate Cornell. Loving brother of Stephanie,
Amanda and Greg. Cherished by his grandparents Joyce
Clarkson, George and Sheila Cornell, and Jean Cornell.
Dear nephew of Tom and Sandy Clarkson, Wes Clarkson
and Laura DeVries, Carla Cornell and James Cornell.
Special friend of Stephanie Vandermeulen. Wes will also
be missed by his many friends and other family members.
Predeceased by his grandfather Robert Clarkson, Poppa
Arnold Petrino, and aunt Brenda Cornell. The funeral
service was held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at
2 pm at St. Anns Community Church with Rev. John Knoll
officiating. Ruth Griffin was the pianist. Flower bearers
were Alyssa Clarkson, Erika Clarkson, John Waite and Jim
Waite. Pallbearers were Tyler Giovannetti, Will Thornton,
Andrew (Pudd) Lampman, James Cornell, Greg Cornell and
Lee Mattiuz. Cremation followed. Memorial contributions to
Help A Child Smile would be appreciated by the family and
may be made through Merritt Funeral Home .

COSBY, IRA: Peacefully, at Deer Park Villa in Grimsby on
Sunday, October 16, 2005, Ira Cosby Jr. of RR#2
Smithville, in his 85th year. Loving father of Wayne and
Sharon of Smithville, Larry and Phyllis of Stoney Creek,
Lorraine and Lyle of Binbrook, Owen and Gay of
Burlington, Darryl of Hamilton, Sherry of Tillsonburg and
Maxine of Hamilton. Cherished grandfather of 6
grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by
sisters Pansy Shekelton and Lilian Jarvis and brothers
Leonard and Roy. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral
Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday from 2-4
and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on
Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the funeral
home. Interment St. Luke's Anglican Church cemetery.

the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the
family and can be made through the funeral home.

CUSHENAN, RICHARD: At Hamilton General Hospital on
Tuesday, December 6, 2005, Richard Francis Cushenan
of Caistor Centre, in his 61st year. Beloved husband of
Sharon Cushenan (nee Zasada). Loving father of Grant
and Anita Graham of Hamilton, Mark and Patty Graham of
Hamilton and Shannon and Brad Churchward of Paris,
Ontario. Cherished by his grandchildren Kassie, Alyssa,
Harleigh, Jade, Parker and Campbell. Dear brother of Bob
and Gerrie Cushenan of Hamilton, and dear son-in-law of
Yvonne Raskob. He will also be missed by many nieces
and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Doug
Cushenan (1989). Rick was a long-time employee of
Firestone, Bridgestone/Firestone Canada. Friends called
at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville
on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with Prayers at 7 pm. The
funeral service was held at St. Martin of Tours Roman
Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Road 20),
Smithville, on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 11 am.
Interment at the church's adjoining cemetery. Memorial
contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society would be
appreciated by the family and can be made through the
funeral home.

DAVIDSON, SHEILA (nee Lampman): passed away on
Friday, March 11, 2005 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital
in Grimsby. Beloved soulmate to William Purcer.
Cherished mother of Christine Lampman-Vitucci and Shawn
Lampman. Stepmother to Sherri (Matt) Devries, Bill (Terri)
Purcer and Connie Purcer. Cherished Nana to Vince
Vitucci. Grandma Sheila to Jonathan, Rebecca, Bailey,
Brandon and Colby. Dear sister to John, Randy (Doris),
Doug (Rita) and David Lampman and step sister to Bonnie
(Richard) Vallie and Pattie (Harold) Sexton. Cherished
daughter of Beverlee Smith and Alexander Lampman.
Loving granddaughter of Hattie Dancer and Etta Lampman.
Sheila will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Monday, March 14, 2005 at 2
pm at Merritt Funeral Home, Smithville, with Rev. Trevor
Jones officiating. Interment St. Luke's Anglican Church
cemetery , Smithville. Pallbearers were Doug, Dave, Randy
and John Lampman, Dave Dancer, Andy Hardy and Ed
Trotman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the
Canadian Cancer Society or St. Luke's Anglican Church
would be appreciated by the family.

DEAVU, PHYLLIS: At West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on
Saturday May 21, 2005, Phyllis Irene Deavu (Winegarden)
of R.R.#2 Caistor Centre, in her 78 th year. Lovingly
remembered and sadly missed by her children Gary of
Hamilton, Barbara of Caistor Centre, Deborah of Morriston,
Tom and Krysia (Sowa) of Caistor Centre, Sandra and Bob
(Klaus) of Beamsville and her daughter-in-law Lynn Deavu
of Caistor Centre. Beloved grandmother of Daniel, Sarah
and Billy. Dear sister of Ken, Loatus, Evelyn, Everett,
Shirley, Beverly, George and Betty. Predeceased by her
husband Charles (2003), her son Dale (1999), her sisters
Norma and Audrey and brother Orville.
Friends called at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station
Street, Smithville on Tuesday May 24 from 6-9 p.m. The
funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at
11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Riverside cemetery ,
Dunnville. Memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s
Society or the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be
appreciated by the family.
