REAUME, GWENDOLYN FRANCES: Died peacefully on November 15, 2008 at Albright Manor in Beamsville, Ontario. Gwen was born December 25, 1919 in Colchester, Ontario. She worked for the Ford Motor Company in Windsor, and then for many years at Becton-Dickinson in Clarkson while residing in Oakville. She was very active in the Oakville Zonta club, the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, the Atkinson Foundation, and many other charitable organizations. She was named Oakville Volunteer of the Year in 1998, and was an avid fan of the jazz scene in Toronto. Her latest fervent hope was to attend the December Boss Brass reunion in Toronto. She is survived and sadly missed by her son Bob Reaume (Genie) and daughter Nancy Poole (Frank), both of Smithville, Ontario. She had 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Connie Reaume. Following Gwen's wishes, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Leprosy Mission or to Albright Manor would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the staff and residents of Albright Manor for their excellent loving care.

Dear brother of Barbara Kilpatrick of Hamilton and Jean Ecker (Ivan Carruthers) of Smithville. Predeceased by his brother Alex Shepherd. Veteran of WWII and member of the Black Watch. Howard was a longtime employee of Comfort and Tylee, manager of the Smithville LCBO, and in his retirement was a valued employee of Carruthers' Printing and Merritt Funeral Home. SHIELDS, ELLEN ISABEL: Suddenly at home of heart failure in her eighty-fifth year. She is survived by her sister Jean of New York City, her double cousin Margaret Wilde of Toronto with her husband John, their children and grandchildren and her cousins Sam and George McGee, who live close by, their wives Sylvia and Elisabeth and their children and grandchildren and by other cousins. She had many friends and good neighbours. She was active in the community, helping at Caistorville United Church where she was a member of the UCW and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. She had good memories of her teaching at Canboro and S.S.No.2 and kept in touch with her students over the years. She was a member of the West Lincoln Retired Teachers Association and a long time member of the West Lincoln Historical Society. Now at peace, she is resting at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. There will be a Service at the Funeral Home at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 16 and burial in Caistorville United Church cemetery. All are invited to share tea and memories at the church afterwards. Donations may be given to the Caistorville United Church Memorial Fund.
