Beloved wife of the late Ross Lyndon Murray (February 5, 1983). Loving mother of Russell Murray (Betsy), Jack Murray (Virginia), Beverly Reynolds (Ron), Phyllis Walker (and the late Cecil), Norma Deline (Bob), Gail Galley (Peter), Allen Murray (Joyce) and Bill Murray (Bev). Cherished by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Friday, November 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Private family burial service to be held in Madoc at a later date. Beloved husband of the late Doris (1998). Loving father and stepfather to Charlie (Sandi), Ron (Wendy), Rick (Angela), Virginia (Jack), Jim (Angela) and the late Chris. Grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Cornelius (Helen), Jacob (Tina), George (Della), Mary (Abe), Abraham (Hertha), and the late Diedrich (Ann), Peter (Helen) and Helena (Peter). Henry was a Veteran and long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Smithville Branch 393. Gone to be with her beloved husband of 65 years, the late Victor Patrick Henry Pinder (August 15, 2008). Loving mother of David and Wilma Pinder of Brantford, and Carol and Ben Ouellette of Smithville. The family wishes to thank the everyone at the nursing home for their care of mom. Beloved grandmother of Jonathan, Rebecca, Bailey, Brandon, Colby, Devin and Jessica. Dear sister of Betty Garrison, Doris Roy, Diana and Jim Simms, Ron and Shelley Summerfield, and Bob Summerfield. Linda will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by niece Stacey, infant brother George, stepfather Robert Woolley and stepmother Victoria Summerfield. REAUME, GWENDOLYN FRANCES: Died peacefully on November 15, 2008 at Albright Manor in Beamsville, Ontario. Gwen was born December 25, 1919 in Colchester, Ontario. She worked for the Ford Motor Company in Windsor, and then for many years at Becton-Dickinson in Clarkson while residing in Oakville. She was very active in the Oakville Zonta club, the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, the Atkinson Foundation, and many other charitable organizations. She was named Oakville Volunteer of the Year in 1998, and was an avid fan of the jazz scene in Toronto. Her latest fervent hope was to attend the December Boss Brass reunion in Toronto. She is survived and sadly missed by her son Bob Reaume (Genie) and daughter Nancy Poole (Frank), both of Smithville, Ontario. She had 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Connie Reaume. Following Gwen's wishes, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Leprosy Mission or to Albright Manor would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the staff and residents of Albright Manor for their excellent loving care.

RITCHIE, MARGARET: Peacefully at McNally House on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Margaret Ritchie (nee Smith) of Smithville in her 76th year. Beloved wife for 55 years of Eric. Loving mother of Heather and Joseph Mataseje and cherished grandmother of Alexander. Predeceased by her sister Phyllis in Scotland. Beloved husband of Diane Carol Sheldrake (nee Springstead) for 31 years. Dear son of May Sheldrake and the late Jack Sheldrake. Loving father of Mark and Shelley, Kimberley and Tom Sopher, Scott and Denise, Todd and Karen, and Glenn and Karen Kay. Cherished grandfather of Michael, Rebecca, Benjamin, Marissa, Samantha, Jacob and Heather. Dear brother of Jim and Joyce Sheldrake, Lois and Paul Chapman, and Linda Kobylt. Predeceased by his brother Irvine. Stan was the first licensed hot air balloonist in Canada and built many hot air balloons with his pastime. He was the owner and operator of J. W. SHEPHERD, HOWARD: Peacefully at his home in Smithville on Thursday, August 21, 2008, Howard Jack Shepherd in his 86th year. Beloved husband of 59 years to Velma (nee Bryan). Loving father of Barbara Jean Fink of Keswick, and of Robert Jack Shepherd (Margaret) of Beamsville. Cherished grandfather of Kelley Carasi (Peter), and Cortney Dunkling (Chris), and great-grandfather of Mackenzie, Gabriella and Sammy. Dear brother of Barbara Kilpatrick of Hamilton and Jean Ecker (Ivan Carruthers) of Smithville. Predeceased by his brother Alex Shepherd. Veteran of WWII and member of the Black Watch. Howard was a longtime employee of Comfort and Tylee, manager of the Smithville LCBO, and in his retirement was a valued employee of Carruthers' Printing and Merritt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 216 Station Street in Smithville on Saturday, August 23 at 1:30 pm. A very heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tom Suhadolc for whom Howard had so much admiration and respect, and also to the many dedicated health professionals at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and St. Elizabeth's Nursing. Beloved husband of Vicky Sherk (nee Banika) for over 38 years. Loving son of Violet and the late Glenford Sherk. Loving father of Mike (Lorraine Brown), Jason (Julie), and Andrew (Stefanie Lees). Cherished grandfather of Tyler, Kaitlyn, Noah, Jarrett and Chloe. Dear brother of James Sherk (Sherry), and Sandra Sherk. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. SHIELDS, ELLEN ISABEL: Suddenly at home of heart failure in her eighty-fifth year. She is survived by her sister Jean of New York City, her double cousin Margaret Wilde of Toronto with her husband John, their children and grandchildren and her cousins Sam and George McGee, who live close by, their wives Sylvia and Elisabeth and their children and grandchildren and by other cousins. She had many friends and good neighbours. She was active in the community, helping at Caistorville United Church where she was a member of the UCW and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. She had good memories of her teaching at Canboro and S.S.No.2 and kept in touch with her students over the years. She was a member of the West Lincoln Retired Teachers Association and a long time member of the West Lincoln Historical Society. Now at peace, she is resting at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. There will be a Service at the Funeral Home at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 16 and burial in Caistorville United Church cemetery. All are invited to share tea and memories at the church afterwards. Donations may be given to the Caistorville United Church Memorial Fund.
