Beloved husband of Barbara; loving father of Alexandra and Malcolm; dear papa of Marissa, Cameron and Ian. Practiced architecture for over 50 years with partner Michael Zuberec. He was a committed churchman. The United Church in his youth, at St. George's Anglican Church for 50 years where he served as a church warden and more recently at St. Barnabas' Church. He had a strong curiosity and love of learning serving on many community committees in the areas of planning and heritage conservation. He was president of the St. Catharines and Lincoln Historical Society, the Museum board, the Public Library board and the Canadian Canal Society. He will be remembered by many for conducting walking tours of the historical and architecturally significant buildings of St. Catharines. Donations may be made to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehab Hospital Foundation, Hospice Niagara or the charity of your choice. OSTROSSER, Kenneth Burwell - passed away on Wednesday April 18, 2007 in his 89th year at the Welland County General Hospital surrounded by his family. Dear husband for 63 years to Zeta (Holloway). Loving father of Merla and her husband Len Kimber, Dave Ostrosser and his wife Susan, and Ron Ostrosser and his wife Myrna. Proud grandfather of Kelly (Bruce) Greenlaw, Craig (Tivie) Kimber, Ryan Kimber, Heather (Adam) Moyer and Shane Ostrosser. Proud great grandfather of Sam and Ryan. Ken will always be remembered for the love of his family. Ken loved the outdoors and his passion for gardening was evident to everyone, in fact Ken gardened right up to the time of his heart attack in June of 2002. Stanley Reuben Price
PRICE, Stanley Reuben DFC, B.Sc (Eng) - Stan Price died peacefully on April 19th, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by his family, beloved wife of 59 years, Janet, and children, Donald, Sheila and Marion. He will be missed by his daughter-in-law, Gillian Cooper, and grandchildren Jordan and Rachel Devenport, and Connor and Geordie Price. Stanley, DOB 13/02/23, was the only child of Ernest and Carrie Price of Sault Ste. Marie. After joining the RCAF in 1942, Stan completed a tour of 32 operations over Germany, as a navigator on Halifax bombers, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Stanley met Janet Yates in Glasgow on 04-04-44. In 1947 Janet emigrated to Canada and they were married on June 28th, 1947. Stan attended Queen's University in Kingston and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree (Civil Engineering) in 1948 and represented Queen's on basketball and tennis teams. During his early professional career, Stan was a municipal engineer with the Town of Weston and the cities of Belleville and Niagara Falls. He was President of the Ontario City Engineers Association and Vice President of the Ontario Building Officials Association and the Ontario Pollution Control Federation. In 1963 he was appointed City Manager of Saint John, NB. In 1971 Stan returned to Niagara Falls as City Manager for the next ten years. During this period, he was elected Vice President of the International City Managers' Association and President of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators. In 1982, Stan relocated to Fredericton, NB, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He then travelled to Indonesia and Venezuela on municipal consulting contracts for the next five years. Stan volunteered with a variety of organizations and was a member of Kiwanis International for more than 50 years, Lieutenant Governor for N.B. and President of the Niagara Falls and Saint John Kiwanis Clubs. He also volunteered with the: Air Force Association; Canadian Aviation Historical Society; United Way; Meals on Wheels; Library Board; Royal Canadian Legion 139; and the Family Council of Chelsey Park Streetsville Long Term Care Facility. Stan was a long-time member and Kirk of Session Member of Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on May 12, at 2:00 pm at Erindale Presbyterian Church, 1560 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, ON. Predeceased by parents Hermann & Ida Laitinen and brothers-in-law Carl Csanadi & Sulo Kuronen. Born in Helsinki, Finland, Mrs. Kuronen and her sister moved to Canada and Welland when they were 18 years old. She loved her home and family where she carried out homemaking, gardening and painting, both with oils & water colours and as well enjoyed, cross country skiing. Edward William Noel Morgan
MORGAN, Edward William Noel, D.F.C. and Bar - Peacefully at home with his family around him on April 14, 2007. Ted was born on December 25, 1910 and spent his early life in Northampton, England. After moving to Abergavenny, Wales in 1925, he became a theological student before changing course and qualifying as a Solicitor of the High Court of Justice in 1939. At this time, he met his life partner Norah on the tennis court. During a distinguished career in the R.A.F., he attained the rank of Squadron Leader. After the war, Ted and Norah immigrated to Canada and settled in Oakville where they engineered their family. Ted dabbled in farming and business before finding his true vocation as an educator when he was invited to join the staff of Ridley College in 1958. He was an inspiring teacher of English who balanced his intellectual activity by coaching students in cricket, hockey and soccer. Ted's teams were legendary for their success. In 1968, Ted joined the staff of Niagara College where he taught English and philosophy and was student faculty advisor. He was the first person in Ontario to be elected as Senior College Master. Following his retirement in 1978, Ted devoted much of his time to developing and maintaining The Millstone, his beautiful property in Ridgeville. For those who visited it from around the world, The Millstone was a place of pleasure, peace and serenity. Ted was a sparkling conversationalist, wise counselor and loyal friend. His delightful sense of fun, warm heart and unending kindness transformed many lives. He was a strong supporter of his local community and a dedicated environmentalist whose life was enriched by his relentless probing of the potential of pure awareness. A true gentleman, he will be greatly missed by all whom he has touched. Ted was predeceased by Norah, his beloved wife of 61 years and is survived by his sons David, Charles (Jenny), Paul (Susan), Jonathon (Kimberlee) and grandchildren Marjorie and Thomas, Robyn, Ross and Colin, Kaleigh and Jeremy. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be scattered in the forest glades at The Millstone. Donations may be made in his name to the Norah Morgan Scholarship at Brock University.
