James (Jimmy) McBride Borland
BORLAND, James (Jimmy) McBride - Sept. 28, 1936 - April 19, 2007 Jimmy Borland of Niagara Falls Canada & formerly of Govanhill Glasgow, Scotland passed away peacefully at 9 a.m. on April 19th at the Waterford Regional Hospital, Ardkeen, Co. Waterford Ireland. He leaves behind, his loving wife and friend Margaret, son James (Elizabeth) Borland, daughter Marcelline (late Gerald) O'Neill, and grandsons Michael (Julia) O'Neill, Kevin (Tania) O'Neill, Patrick and Luke O'Neill. He is also survived by nieces and nephews in Shawlands Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to immigrating to Canada from Scotland in 1972 Jimmy attended Adelphi High School, and then worked as a welder in Fairfields and John Brown shipyards. In Glasgow he was a season ticket holder of his beloved Glasgow Rangers and a brother of Pollokshaws Royal Arch Lodge No. 153. He spent many years volunteering with the Niagara Falls Soccer Club. In Canada he worked as a welder with Port Wellar Dry Docks, Norton Company and the Carborundum. He was immensely involved in soccer. In 1981 he won an Ontario Cup Champions Medal with the Boone's Dionnes of the Niagara Falls Soccer Club. He is a member of the Niagara Falls Wall of Fame, for his achievement as a coach. James McBride Borland was cremated on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Island Crematorium on Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, Ireland in a private service. DALICANDRO, Lucy Anne - Peacefully, at her home in Thorold, on Tuesday, April 24th 2007 in her 83rd year. Beloved sister of Eleanor (Mario) Galliera of Thorold and Tom (Cathy) Dalicandro of Guelph, and sister-in-law of Jean Dalicandro and Earl Williamson both of Thorold. Lucy was predeceased by her parents Vincenzo (1969) and Mary (Veri) (1990), brothers Domenic (1985) (Rose 1987), Emilio (2005) and sister Rosalie Williamson (2001). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lucy worked in British Columbia as a registered nurse and was also on staff with the Victorian Order of Nurses. She spent 28 years at the Montreal Neurological Hospital and retired in 1990. Lucy was an extensive traveler, enjoyed painting, weaving, bird watching and was an accomplished photographer. The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers with the CWL present will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 3:00 pm. Born in Welland, Mrs. Coles remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed as a registered nursing assistant for some 29 years at the Welland Hospital retiring in 1992. Florence was an active member of First Baptist Church and a member of Cornwallis Baptist Church, Nova Scotia. As well, she was a former member of Lookout Point Golf & Country Club.
