Joyce Mary Iles

ILES, Joyce Mary - A resident of Chatham passed peacefully Saturday April 28, 2007 at C.K.H.A. Public General campus in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Cyril W. Iles (1994). Survived by brother Leonard Austin and sister Kathleen Wallace of Essex England. Joyce will be remembered by many family members and friends. She spent her latter years at St. Andrew's Residence. The family will receive visitors Friday May 4, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the BOWMAN FUNERAL HOME, 4 Victoria Ave (519-352-2390). A funeral service will take place Saturday May 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment to follow in Maple Leaf cemetery. Donations to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.

John “Jack“ Savage

SAVAGE, John “Jack“ - At the St. Thomas - Elgin General Hospital on Monday April 30th, 2007. John “Jack“ Savage of St. Thomas in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Charlotte (Russell) Savage (2003) and dearly loved father of John and his wife Lynda Savage of Blenheim; Gary and his wife Diane Savage, St. Thomas; David and his wife Ethel Savage, Union; Robert and his wife Lynne Savage, St. Thomas; Brian and his wife Elizabeth Savage, St. Thomas; Bradley and his wife Pamela Savage, St. Thomas and Patricia Ann and her husband Dean Galbraith, Ridgetown. Dear brother of William and his wife Peggy Savage of Don Mills. Jack is also lovingly remembered by a dear friend Dorothy Russell, by his grandchildren Denise Juck (Chris), John, Tristan (Charline), Colleen, Jason, Nathan (Kelly), Jessica, Wayne, Kyle and Santanna Savage and Curtis, Trevor and Nicole Galbraith and also be his great grandchildren Corey and Aaron Juck and Logan Jack Savage. Jack was born in Windsor on June 2nd, 1923 to Willard and Velma (Armstrong) Savage. He was a retired Train Conductor with N.Y.C., P.C. and Con Rail; he had served with the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of Talbot Lodge #546 A.F. & A.M., of Grace United Church, of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and a member of the United Transportation Union for over sixty years. Resting at the WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow in London. Visitation Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic Service will be held Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.

Dorothy Irene Shaw

SHAW, Dorothy Irene - A resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 30, 2007 in her 92nd year. Dorothy is the daughter of the late John William & Jenny Irene (Schoales) Turner. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Shaw (1986). Loving mother & mother-in-law of Jane & Tom McGee of Wallaceburg, Deborah Shaw of Peterborough, Margaret & Robert Wickett of Elmvale, Joanne & Ralph Shaw of Guelph and Eleanor & Alvin Lozon of Owen Sound. Dear grandmother of Alan & Stephanie, Bryan & Angela, Karen & Greg, David & Helen, Robert & Darlene, Matthew & Kelley, Erin, Allison and the late Bradley Joseph. Great grandmother of Marshall, Alyssa, Brendan, Rebecca, Joseph, Ryan, Emily, Alex, and Adelle. Sister-in-law of Frances & sister of the late John Richard Turner of Toronto. Dorothy had owned Shaw Hardware with her husband Joe, was Wallaceburg's Citizen of the Year in 1994, awarded the 125 Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal for Contribution to Community, inducted into the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame as a female athlete, was a champion swimmer, rower, golfer, curler, bowler, baseball pitcher and card player. She was active in Knox Presbyterian Church and a tireless volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, Red Cross, Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary, I.O.D.E and the Kinettes. Friends may call at the HAYCOCK- CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street (at Elgin) in Wallaceburg from 7-9 PM on Wednesday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. David Heath at the funeral home on Friday, May 4 at 1 PM. The interment will follow at Riverview cemetery. James M. (Jim) Clendenning

CLENDENNING James M. (Jim) - of R.R.4, Blenheim passed away on May 1, 2007 peacefully surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Born in South Harwich Township on the Eau Road family farm 84 years ago son of the late Russell and Kate (Fraser) Clendenning. He will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife Kate Hughes Clendenning. Jim was very proud of his children Dr. Martha Clendenning and husband Dennis Zahorodney, Elizabeth (Libby) Passmore and husband Wayne, Mary Genge and husband Mike, Jim and Julie Clendenning, all of Blenheim/Ridgetown area. Grandchildren Fraser, Erin, Kate, Maggie, Ann, Jill and James Edward (Jed) will miss Grandpa's hugs and kisses and candy stash by his chair. Beloved brother of Norma Rowe and husband John of Northville, Michigan, brother-in-law of Ethel Clendenning of Blenheim and Jack Kerr of London. Predeceased by brother Fraser Clendenning and sister Mary Jean Kerr. Jim was a founding member of the Erie-St. Clair Chapter of Ducks Unlimited Canada, a faithful noble of the Shrine for over 50 years and honoured as a Kentucky Colonel in recognition of his role in bringing dark-fired tobacco to Canada. The family will receive visitors at the J.L. FORD FUNERAL HOME in Blenheim on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at New Scotland United Church, corner of New Scotland Line and Kent Bridge Road (Cty Rd 15). Interment to follow at Evergreen cemetery , Blenheim. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the New Scotland United Church Memorial Fund, CNIB and Ducks Unlimited Canada. A Masonic Service will be held on Friday, May 4 at 6:45 p.m. at the J.L. Ford Funeral Home.

Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Russel was an employee of Woodbridge Foam Corporation, Tilbury. McDONALD, Kenneth Jerome (Jerry) “Pops“ - 69 years, born August 20, 1937, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 1, 2007. Former husband of Yvonne (nee Chevalier) (2001). Loving father of Michael (Anne) McDonald of Merlin, Kenneth McDonald of Tilbury, Gary (Brigitte) McDonald of Tilbury. Proud and beloved grandpa of Craig (Victoria), Steve, Christopher, as well as Chris and Jeff. Predeceased by parents Jerome McDonald (1941) and Mary (Marshal) McDonald (1977). Dear brother of James McDonald (late wife Carol) (2003), and the late Margaret Carson (2006). Dear uncle of Kevin and Donnie Carson, and Scott McDonald. McKAY, Laura - A resident of Chatham, Laura Jean McKay passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Born in 1941, beloved daughter of the late George and Margaret (Gibson) Chappell. Laura was predeceased by her cherished husband Don (2006) and her sister Peggy Allison (1999). She was a loving aunt to 14 nieces and nephews, always patient, generous with her time, and interested in their lives. She is missed by her brothers-in-law Bruce Allison and Bob (Sharon) McKay, and sisters-in- law Dorothy McLarty, Kay McKay, and Anne McKay of Chatham. Laura operated Gulf Stream Installers with her husband Don for many years. Jozef (Joe) Bis

BIS, Jozef (Joe) - Peacefully at West Park Health Centre on April 29, 2007 at the age of 83. Survived by his son George (Joanne), daughter Donna (Jake), their mother Regina Bis and his grandchildren Emily (Rob Horne), Simon and Samantha. Special friend to Vera Cebrynski and Paul, Cathy and Carolann who will miss him. A special thanks to Bruno and Lee Garus for their concern and friendship. Joe was born in Swoly, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1948. He worked throughout Ontario for Ontario Hydro and later Newman Bros., St. Catharines as a mason. Joe and his family operated a fruit farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake for many years. In accordance with Joe's wishes there will be no service or visitation. Inurnment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill. He was employed with General Motors of Canada for 48 years. He spent many years coaching baseball in Merritton, loved the Yankees but lived for his grandchildren. Alexandra will be remembered for her love of gardening, her beautiful Ukrainian embroidery, her amazing cooking, her love of life and her 2 beloved cats Zikra and Murka. Alexandra is a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George's and the Kalyna seniors group. Sister of Sue Mark of Niagara Falls, Ann Jaques of Fergus, Irene (Peter) Gaasenbeek of Cambridge, the late John (Phyllis) Sokol of Stoney Creek and the late Andy (Lorraine) Sokol of Burlington.
