KINGELIN - Ruth Manda
passed away peacefully at Cassellholme, home for the aged, on Monday, September 26th, 2005. She was predeceased by her first husband John Maki (1937), her second husband Aaro Kingelin (1978), her son John Robert Maki (1966) and by her sister Mary Kivinen (1989). Ruth was a proud Canadian of Finnish heritage. Born in Cobalt, Ontario to Robert and Manda Lindfors. She has resided in Kirkland Lake, Bracebridge and North Bay. Loving Aunt, amiable travel companion and a formidable scrabble player. She will be greatly missed by her niece Anita Kivinen and fondly remembered by many great nieces and nephews in North Bay, Toronto, Whitby, Montreal and Saskatoon.

Cremation with burial of her ashes to take place at a family gathering in Kirkland Lake on October 15th, 2005.

Memorial donations to the Cassellholme Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall).

STEELE - Gordon
Peacefully at North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site on Wednesday September 28, 2005 in his 86th year. Dear husband of Anne for 64 years. Loving father of Jackie Pletsch (Murray) of North Bay, George (Barb) of North Bay, Sandy Lewis (Sirron) of Garden Grove, Calif. and Dwayne (Kathy) also of North Bay. Sadly missed by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Survived by his brothers Emerson and Kenneth and by his sister Helen Otto.

The funeral service will be held at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Saturday at 11 am. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. Interment of ashes at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

If desired donations to the Friends of Terrace Lawn cemetery would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

HORNE - Robert Matheson
Suddenly at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital on Friday September 30th, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Beloved and cherished husband for the past 53 years of Joan (Clarke). Proud and loving father of Robert, David & Janet Finlay (Andrew), grandfather of Rochelle, Rosalind, Jacqueline, Duncan, Ian, Graham, Morgan, Megan & Elizabeth, & great grandfather of Aidan. Predeceased by his parents Myrtle and Russell Horne and his brother Donald, he will also be sadly missed by his sister in law Pat. A life member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario Bob worked in private practice for many years, then joined the firm of BDO, from which he retired. Dedicated to his family and his community he was a Past President of both the North Bay and West Ferris Lions Clubs, a founding member of the West Ferris Community Centre Board, and had the privilege of serving as the first Commodore of the North Bay Canoe Club. A faithful member, for the past 48 years, of St. John's Anglican Church, Bob served on many church committees, giving freely of his time and talents. An avid golfer he will be remembered by many as a member of the Pinewood Park Seniors Golf Club.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Members of the Lions Club will honor him during a memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday evening to be held at 6:45 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Bob's life will be held in St. John's Anglican Church at 11:00 am on Wednesday October 5th. Interment will follow in St. John's Anglican cemetery.

If desired donations to the Endowment Fund of St. John's Church, or the Heart and Stroke Fund will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

ANDERSON - Andrew 'Scotty'
At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Monday October 3, 2005 in his 73rd year. Predeceased by his wife Brenda. Dearest friend of Thea den Bekker. Loving father of Andrea McLellan (Ken) and Margaret Walters (Doug) all of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandchildren Jessica, Courtney, Jeffrey and Scott McLellan and Mathew, Nicholas, Daniel and Cameron Walters. Survived by his sister Betty of Dallas, Texas.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel United Church on Thursday at 11 am. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. Interment of ashes at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

If desired donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

FIELD - Richard Harry 'Rick'
passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Friday, October 7, 2005. Richard was the beloved husband of Jessie Anne Thompson, he was 62 years old. Loving father of Jarod and Brandon Curwin. Dearly loved brother of Marlene and her husband Bob Greene of Cornwall and Noreen Cooke of North Bay. He will be fondly remembered by his father-in-law Bill Thompson of Thornbury, by his four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law and by his many nieces and nephews. Richard was the proprietor of North Bay Optical, operating it from 1968 until 2001. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a former member of Duck's Unlimited.

Visitation will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Sunday from 2- 4:00 PM and on Monday, October 10th from 1:00 until time for funeral services in the Chapel at 2:30 PM. Cremation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the CNIB will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

ANTRAM - Richard John
passed away lovingly surrounded by his family at the Sudbury Health Center, on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at the age of 53. Richard was the beloved husband of Jill (nee McParland) and the loved father of Wendy & Darryl (Courtney). He will be dearly remembered by his grandchildren Brayden and Brody. Loved son of Harold and Dorothy Antram. Dear brother of Gordon (Vangie) and Carol Curran (Jim). He was "Uncle Richard" to Charles, Nancy, Susan, Brian, Ian and a great uncle to their children.

Visitation for family and friends will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9:00 PM. At the families request a Private Family Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation to follow the service

If desired, donations to the NEO Regional Cancer Center or to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Stuart - Earl Bruce
Surrounded by his family at the North Bay General Hospital -Scollard Site, on Thursday, December 6th, 2001. Earl Bruce Stuart, was the beloved companion of Lorraine Stevens, in his 65th year. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy "Peggy" Wills. Loving father of his sons & daughter; Shane of Sarnia, Ben (Natalie), Trevor (Rhoda) both of North Bay and Lori Ann of Montreal. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Adam, Emily, Joshua and Holly, who proudly called him "Papa". Earl was soon to have a new grandchild, Ben and Natalie will share memories and his loved with their child. Dearly loved brother of Donald, Elaine and Russell all of British Columbia. Predeceased by his brother Harold and sister Marion. Earl enjoyed countless hours working on the "little train" with his buddies, at the North Bay Waterfront. The gardens around the Heritage Railway had special color, due to the care Earl and Lorraine gave them. Visitation will be held for family and friends at Calvary Pentecostal Temple (271 Ski Club Road, North Bay) on Monday from 12noon until time for services in the Temple at 3:00 PM. Interment to follow at the North Bay Union cemetery.

PRIVETT (nee Jones) - Edith Florence
At the age of 105 passed away peacefully after a long and gloriouslife, at Cassellholme on Tuesday, October 11, 2005. She, Edith Jones, was the beloved wife of the late Sydney Privett and was 105 years old. Born in London, England on December 1, 1899 to Robert and Edith Jones, she emigrated to North Bay with her family when she was 12. After having spent her early years working at City Laundry, she and her husband owned and ran the Cozy Rest Auto Court, Motel and Cabins on Algonquin Avenue from the 1940's through the early 1960's.

An active life-time parishioner and Women's GuildMember of St. Brice's Anglican Church and also alife-time member along with her husband Sydney of theNorth Bay Golden Age Club, she enjoyed manypast-times. This included BINGO, gardening, knitting, and travelling to her native England with her sister, Ivy, and her daughter, Joyce. She and her husbandSydney, especially enjoyed working on their beautifulEnglish garden together.

She was the beloved mother of the late Joyce Hynes. Loving grandmother of Kathleen Bouska and her husband Rick of Alaska, Sherry Billie Ann Hynes of Garson, Ont., and Terri-Lynn Leeking of Toronto. She will also be fondly remembered by her great grand-dogs. She was predeceased by her siblings Cyril, Leonard and Ivy. Friends may call at the Martyn FuneralHome (across from City Hall) on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be celebrated by Reverend Tom Carman at St. Brice's Anglican Churchon Saturday at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in the family plot at Terrace Lawn cemetery. The family would like to especially thank thestaff of the 2nd Floor at Cassellholme and the Steel family for their careand support. If desired, donations to the North BayGeneral Hospital Foundation will be gratefullyacknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

SARARAS - Wilfred Daniel
At his residence, North Bay, on Monday October 10, 2005 at the age of 71 years. Born in Magnetewan in 1934 Wilfred was the son of the late Dan and Ollie Sararas. Survived by his brothers Gary and Dennis, he was predeceased by an infant brother Allan. Wilfred will be lovingly remembered by his Aunt Lena and the staff and patients at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital. A gifted guitarist Wilfred enjoyed playing and had a fondness for country music.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Thursday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Friday until time for services in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow.

MUNRO - Terry James
With sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of Terry James Munro at the young age of 56. Terry's spirit left him peacefully at 5:15 am Thanksgiving Day 2005 in the I.C.U. at the North Bay General Hospital. He was the loved son of the late William & Marion Munro, loving brother of Neil Munro and Margaret Bean (Richard), loving uncle to Roy Bean, Amanda Bean, Shannon Goulet (Peter) and great uncle to Charaton Goulet.Terry's passion for music, cars, motorbikes and the love for his dog Jessie, represent only a few of his special traits and qualities. A Private Funeral Service will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL (across from City Hall), today Saturday, October 15, 2005. Cremation will follow the service.

Knowing that you are finally free of the pain and frustration you endured for so many years as a diabetic, with many complications, the sadness we feel of losing you will be somewhat lessened. You are finally a free spirit Terry, to chase all those answers that are 'blowing in the wind' I miss you so much Buddy. We all do and we love you and will never forget you.

All is yours forever.

SWANT - Agnes Dorothy
passed away at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Wednesday, October 19, 2005. Agnes was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Reginald Swant, she was 94 years old. She was the loving mother of Floyd Swant (wife Iris) of Sault Ste. Marie, Shirley MacHale (husband Rod) of Elliott Lake and Barbara Franklin (husband Bob) of Redbridge. Predeceased by her sons Reg and Cliff. Dearly remembered by her daughters in law Marilyn and Muriel. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Doug, Debbie, Stephen, Wendy, Don, Sherri, Greg, Vicki, Charlene, Laurie and by her many great grandchildren. Dearly loved sister of Evelyn Douglas of Toronto and Ken Buffett of North Bay. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Clarence, Gordon, Roy, May, Cecil, Russell and Leslie. Agnes family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 2nd floor of Cassellholme and the 3rd Floor at the Scollard Site for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Friday from 7 - 9:00 PM and again on Saturday October 22nd from 10 am until time for the Funeral Services in the Chapel at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at the Terrace Lawn cemetery.

If desired, donations to NEO Regional Cancer Center will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

SIMON - James Elias
Born August 10, 1919, died peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at North Bay. Jim was born in Akron, Ohio, but had resided in the North Bay area since 1976. He is survived by his wife Vivian of North Bay, and by his sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, of Ohio and Virginia.

Jim was a life member of the Masonic Blue Lodge # 561, North Baltimore, Ohio and the Scottish Rights, Valley of Toledo, Ohio. He was the founder and original owner of Lakes Mold and Machine Company of Akron, Ohio. James was a decorated veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the carrier, USS Belleau Wood in the South Pacific during World War II.

A service will be held at the time of inurnment at the Arlington National cemetery , in Washington DC.
