KASI - Wilma
A memorial service will be held to share the loss, celebrate the life, and honour the spirit of Wilma Kasi. Friends are invited to attend on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at the ONR Apartment Building located at 665 Oak Street East in the reception room on the 8th floor.

BRADFORD (nee Smith) - Jean J.
At North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Thursday March 6, 2003. Dear wife of the late Ervin M. "Brad" Bradford. Loving mother of W.D. "Bill" Bradford (wife Mary-Jane) of North Bay and Barry Bradford (wife Laurie) of New Liskeard. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Tim, Todd, Nancy, Laurie and Julie. Survived by her sister Virginia. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Audrey, Nadine, Alvin, Freda, Gordon, Florence, Justine, Douglas and Carl. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Saturday at Trinity United Church from 10 - 11 am. The funeral service will be held at the Trinity United Church on Saturday at 11 am. Interment at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

WESTELL - Alban
Peacefully at Cassellholme on Monday March 10, 2003. Beloved husband of Marjorie Burchill, in his 89th year. Father of Peter Westell (wife June), David Westell (wife Nancy), Gwen Simpson (husband Doug) and Kathy Mitchell (husband Tim). Grandfather of Todd Westell, Trent Westell (Danya), Keiron Dominelli (Roberto), Clinton and Sarah Westell, Jim and Rob Simpson, Sally & Maggie Mitchell; and great-grandfather of Keiralea & Clinton Dominelli, and Matthew Simpson. Survived by his sister Lillian Westell, and brother Robert Westell. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial of ashes at St. John’s Anglican cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the North Bay General Hospital Building Fund would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Gardner - Lois June
Peacefully, after a courageous fight, on Wednesday December 19, 2001 at North Bay General-Scollard Site. Lois, beloved wife of the late Art Gardner. Loving mother of Judy L'Ecuyer (husband Clem), Marion Restoule (husband Len), Dorinda Sicotte (husband John), and Patricia Keefe (husband Keefer). Proud grandmother of Nikki Lecuyer (Dan Derosier), Trevor Keefe, Shawna & Evan Sicotte, Kim Paterson (husband Tim), Cory Restoule; and great-grandmother of Brendan Lafontaine, JackLyn & Delaney Derosier. Dear sister of Marion Gilinski (husband John). Predeceased by her infant son Charles William. Resting at the Martyn Funeral Home on today from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services from the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 22nd, at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at St. John's Anglican cemetery.

Graham - Audrey Winnifred 'Simpson'
Audrey Winnifred Graham (nee Simpson), wife of the late H. Rolland D. Graham, died peacefully at her home in North Bay, on Monday December 17th, while in her 95th year. Born in Toronto, Audrey graduated from Moulton Ladies' College in 1926. She subsequently served as the head dietitian at the Round Room at the Eaton's College Street store until her marriage in 1936. The family moved to North Bay in 1948 when Rolly assumed the role of Regional Manager, Northeastern Region, Ontario Hydro. She enjoyed years of active involvement in the North Bay community. She contributed in leadership roles to many organizations including: the Civic Hospital Auxiliary, St. Andrew's United Church Women, UNICEF and Meals on Wheels. She was also a great supporter of the arts in North Bay and enjoyed many trips with the Canadian Club including this past spring. Lovingly remembered by her children, George and his wife Wilda of Kitchener, Barry and his wife Gene of Gravenhurst. Her warmth will be missed by her grandchildren, Laurie and her husband Errington Graham-Walsh of Scarborough, Peter of Kitchener and Heather of London, niece Heather and husband John Lusher of Barrie, and nephew Barclay Simpson of Toronto. Predeceased by her brother Edward W. Simpson. Visitation at the Martyn Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 19th from 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, December 20th from 2:30 to 5pm and 7 to 9 pm.. The funeral service will be held in St. Andrew's United Church on Friday, December 21st at 10:30 am with Rev. Don Linkletter officiating. This will be followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will follow at Hutcheson Memorial cemetery in Huntsville.

LAFRANCE - Laurette Marie
The family announces with sorrow the death of Laurette Lafrance at the Hôtel Dieu, St-Jérome (Québec) with her children Bernard, Carole and Paul at her side. Pre-deceased by her husband Adélard and loving mother of Bernard (Sharon), Carole and Paul (Dianne), Laurette was also the cherished grandmother of Gary, Christi-Anne, Mé1isse, Laure, Alexis and the great grandmother of Liam. Prior to residing in Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts for the past 7 years, Laurette was a resident of North Bay for 50 years. She worked tirelessly with her husband Adélard at Lafrance Furs. She was the Charter President of the Algonquin Chapter I.O.D.E; a regional manager for Welcome Wagon; president of the Granite Curling Club; and a devoted parishoner at St-Vincent-de-Paul. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Saturday April 19th from 1:00 to 3:00p.m. Rev'd. Father Yvan Giroux will conduct a celebration services in the chapel at 3:00p.m. Reception will follow in the funeral home reception center.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Canadian Diabetes Association. We have lost a woman of exceptional style and grace.

She will be sorely missed.

LACASSE - Olida
passed away peacefully at Leisure World Caregiving Centre on Saturday April 19, 2003. Dear wife of the late Arthur Lacasse. Loving mother of Remi Lacasse of Callander. Sadly missed by grandchildren Francine (Rheaume Rochefort) and their children Coralie, Patrick and Marielle and Denis (Natalie Beaulac) and their children Jonah and Nathan. Predeceased by her mother and father Emanuel Charbonneau and Alida Montpellier, sisters Beatrice Charbonneau (Florian Chevrier) and Rita Charbonneau (Mendoza Provencal) and by her brother Abbe Charbonneau (Rita Larose). Survived by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Leisure World, staff of the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, Dr. Redhead, Dr. Birosh, Alva Chapman and Geri Moreau. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium (Tower Dr.). The family will receive friends at the Lafrance Funeral Home, Hearst on Friday April 25th from 2-4 and 7-9:30 pm and on Saturday at the Cathedral of the Assumption from 9:30-10:30 am. GARNEAU - Jeannette Bernadette
At the North Bay General Hospital, on Wednesday April 23rd, 2003 while in her 59th year. Jeannette Bernadette (nee Duchesne) was the beloved wife of Bernard Garneau. Dear mother of Daniel Lepage (Melody Bertrand ) of Sturgeon Falls and dear step mother of Linda Lee Slaght (Les) of Belle River, Paulette Mastronadi (Peno) of Kingsville, Robert Garneau (Denise) of Belle River and Denis (Donna) of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Jacqueline Landry (Lionel), Lucille Boudreau (Benoit) and Robert Duchesne (Louise)all of North Bay, Leo Duchesne (Lillian), Jean Guy Duchesne (Louise), and Claire McIntyre (Gordon), and Suzanne Duchesne all of Sturgeon Falls. Predeceased by her parents Roland and Jeanne Duchesne formerly of Sturgeon Falls. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Friday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted by Reverend. Father Trevor Scarfone at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Saturday April 26th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Mary's cemetery , Sturgeon Falls.

EMBERLIN - Dennis
Suddenly at Sudbury Memorial Hospital on Wednesday April 16, 2003. Dennis, beloved husband of Marie, in his 67th year. Loving father of Michael (wife Gina), Denise Galli (husband Martin), and Linda Stanley (husband Rick). Proud grandfather of Dorian, Devon and Amber Galli, Chantal and Christopher Stanley, and MacKenzie Emberlin. He will be sadly missed by his many brothers and sisters. At his own request cremation will take place with a private family service. A donation to the Northeastern Regional Cancer Centre would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

GRADY - Zoe
Peacefully at her home in North Bay, Ont., in the company of her family, on Friday, April 25, after a mercifully brief struggle with cancer. Predeceased by Albert, her husband of 56 years, and survived by her sons, Wayne (and Merilyn Simonds) of Athens, Ont., and David (and Margaret) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Much loved grandmother of Morgan, Stephen, Catherine, Claire and Mark, stepgrandmother of Karl and Erik, great-stepgrandmother of Astrid and Estelle. Zoe 's generosity, wit and strength of spirit will be greatly missed by her many friends. Longstanding active parishioner of Christ Church Anglican (North Bay) and tireless volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. Resting at Martyn's Funeral Home, 464 Wyld St., North Bay, Ont. Died at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Friday, April 25, 2003. Georgina Madden, was the beloved sister of Warrena Hewitt of Rancho Mirage, California, Herbert Maddin, Charles Maddin, Douglas Maddin and one sister Colleen Nash all of British Columbia. Predeceased by her brother Ranson Maddin and sister Julia Wismer. Dearly loved and sadly missed. Arrangements entrusted to the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall).

HATCH - Walter Thomas
Peacefully at his home on Saturday April 26th, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Walter Thomas Hatch, in his 69th year, was the beloved husband of Marion (Davey) for the past 48 years. Proud and loving father of Richard (Monique) and grandfather of Jordan. Also survived by his brother James (Agnes) of Hearst. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Florence Hatch, and his brother Harry. Walter retired from Petro Canada in 1986 after 29 years of service. His gleaming smile and jovial nature will be missed by all who knew him. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Rev'd. Father Trevor Scarfone of Holy Name Church will conduct a memorial service in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, (across from city hall) on Saturday May 3rd at 2:00 p.m.

Hansen - Phyllis B.
Peacefully at Cassellholme on Monday December 24, 2001. Phyllis B. Dixon, beloved wife of the late Harry G. Hansen, in her 85th year. Dearly loved mother of Barry (Carol) of Batchawana Bay, Bruce (Sandy) of Thunder Bay, Brian (Pamela) of North Bay, and Audrey Battrum (Dennis) of Liberty, Missouri. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Carl Hansen (Sue), Barbara Hansen, Derek Hansen (Kathy), Denis Hansen (Anna), Heidi McDonald (Scott), Suzanne Hansen, Eric Hansen, Daniel Hansen, Roger Hansen, Neil Battrum, and Holly Battrum; as well as her ten great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Arthur in 1930, and Charlie in 1990. Born and raised in Kenora, Phyllis met and married Harry Hansen there. Following their marriage they lived in Red Rock for a while then moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1952. In 1964 they moved to Sturgeon Falls and remained there until moving to Timmins in 1972. Harry was killed in a mining accident in 1974, and so the following year Phyllis moved to North Bay to be closer to her family. A dedicated wife and mother, Phyllis's life was centered around her family. An excellent baker and gardener, she and Harry bred Labrador Retrievers for many years, a hobby she continued with after his passing. Boating was a passion they shared, and they will be remembered by many for their involvement in the Power Squadron, being life members. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home today from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Martyn Funeral home Chapel on Friday at 10 a.m. Friends may call at Arthur Funeral Home, Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Greenwood cemetery , Sault Ste. Marie.

NICHOLLS (nee Lawrence) - Lettie Evelyn
At St. Thomas, Ontario on Saturday April 26th, 2003 while in her 95th year.. Lettie Evelyn (Lawrence) was the loving wife of the late Jack Nicholls who predeceased her in 1995. Daughter of the late Edward and Edith Lawrence. Loving mother of six proud children who will miss her wisdom and guidance; John (Mary) of Lindsay, Rosemary Wilson (Norman) of St. Thomas, Betty Walling of Provo, Utah, David (JoAnne) of Blind River, Peter (Sandi) of Callander, and Beverly Coyle (Shawn) of Northampton, UK. Lettie will be lovingly remembered by her eighteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Predeceased by her brothers Charles, Frank and Arthur and sisters Mabel Beaudry, Hilda Soule, Ida Boehme, Ester Prescott and Irene Bale. Born in Powassan, Ontario Lettie resided in North Bay almost all of her life. Although she moved to live with her daughter Rosemary in St. Thomas a few years ago, Lettie's church home was First Baptist Church, North Bay where she had always been keenly involved. Gardening and flowers were another delight which led her to be involved with the North Bay Horticultural Society. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her. Lettie's family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. then on Wednesday, April 30th at First Baptist Church, Cassells St. from 10:00 a.m. until time for services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in North Bay Union cemetery.

HOFFMANN - Guenter Bruno Hermann
After a brief stay in the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, on Wednesday, April 30, 2003. He will be missed immensely by his wife, Barbara Norman-Hoffmann. Also his sister Irene, son Dirk and daughter Elke and three granddaughters and two grandsons, all of Berlin, Germany, as well as sons Jason and Jonathan Bean, daughter-in-law Sheri, grandchildren Eric, Jason Jr., Ashlea and Danielle. Guenter will be sadly missed by his entire family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents of Berlin, Germany. Guenter was a great fan of Jazz, a wonderful gardener, and enjoyed travelling in his retirement years. A memorial Service will be held at "The Harbour" on Saturday, May 3rd, 11:00 am. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.
