Mrs. Lahde (nee Jones) - Glenna
After a long struggle with cancer at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Monday May 22, 2006 in her 77th year. Dear wife of Allan Lahde. Loving mother of Bonnie Scott (David) and Karen Young (Joseph) all of Thunder Bay. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jennifer and Jonathan Scott and Alana and Justin Young. Predeceased by her grandson Jamie Scott, her brothers Everett, George and Dalton and her sisters Dorothy and Ruth. Special thanks to the nurses of third floor west for their care.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 am at Laurier Avenue United Church. Cremation to follow at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

Mr. Holmes - Cecil
Peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - McLaren Site on Saturday May 27, 2006. Cecil, beloved husband of the late Marion Rae Stites, in his 89th year. Loving father of Betty Ann Robidoux (Henry), Carol Holmes, Richard Holmes (Joanne), and John Holmes. Proud grandfather of Michael, Wendy, Amanda, Megan, and Trent Holmes; great-grandfather of Gavin, Logan, and Rylan. Dear brother of June Currier, Wilbert Holmes, and Harold Holmes (wife Joan). Cecil passed away on the same day as his sister Dora Truesdale. Predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Ralph Holmes, brother George and sisters-in-law Oneida and Shirley Holmes and brothers-in-law Angus Currier and Bud Truesdale.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 1-2 pm. A shared funeral service with his sister Dora will follow in the chapel at 2 pm. Cremation with interment at North Bay Union cemetery.

A donation to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or NCRF - Daffodil Lodge would be appreciated as an expression of sympathy.

Mrs. Truesdale (nee Holmes) - Dora
Peacefully at Cassellholme on Saturday May 27, 2006 in her 93rd year. Dear wife of the late Amer 'Bud' Truesdale. Survived by her brothers and sister June Currier, Wilbert Holmes and Harold Holmes (wife Joan). Dora passed away on the same day as her brother Cecil Holmes. Also survived by her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews both in Canada and the United States. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Ralph Holmes, brother George and sisters-in-law Oneida, Rae and Shirley Holmes and brother-in-law Angus Currier.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home (across from city hall) on Tuesday from 1-2 pm. A shared funeral service with her brother Cecil will follow in the chapel at 2 pm. Interment at the North Bay Union cemetery.

Mr. Finch - Larry
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Larry Finch announces his passing. Larry passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site on Friday May 26, 2006 at the age of 59. Larry is survived by his twin sister Pat Smith, his 2 nieces Joanna and Tina, 3 great nieces, 2 great nephews and his step father Henry Sinclair along with his 2 step sisters Bonnie and June and his loving cat Leon. He is once again reunited with his Mom Simone Finch (Bertrand) who passed away August 13, 2003 and his Dad Bert who passed away April 1980. He is also survived by his former wife of 13 years, Claire Turcotte.

Larry has been cremated and a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Tuesday May 30th at 11 am at the Martyn Funeral Home.

Dr. Bain - Harry William O.C., M.D
Died at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, on Friday, December 21st, 2001, in his 81st year. Dr. Harry Bain was the loving husband of Barbara Watt. Much loved father of Patti and her husband John Parsons, Debbie and her husband Jamie Munro, all of Halifax, Becky and her husband Bob Lambur, Jennifer Bain and Michael Bain and his wife Jennifer Wells, all of Toronto. Predeceased by his first wife Josephine Van Norman and his son Geoffrey. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Chris, Geoff and Rachael Parsons, Allister, Robin and Jackson Munro, Sandy Bain, Ian, Maddy and Alex Lambur, Lucy Bain and Kate Bain. Dearly loved brother of Doris Kennedy and her husband John of North Bay, Marjorie Dahl and Ruth Foy both of California. Also predeceased by his sisters Jean Easto and Dorothy Alcock and by his brother Howard Bain, formerly of North Bay. Harry was a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto and the Physician in Chief at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 24th, at 11:00 am. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake Nipissing Partners in Conservation or to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Bennett (nee Laine) - Miriam
The family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Miriam Bennett, dear wife of the late Fred Bennett, on Monday December 3, 2001. Loving mother of John Bryers (Jan) of Melbourne, Australia, Karen Holsenback ( John ) and Tom Bennett ( Shirley Erickson ) of North Bay. Devoted Grandma of Marnelle Tokio (Jim Welter) of Toronto, Allison and Michael Bennett of North Bay and Adam, Todd and Charles Bryers of Australia; Greatgrandma of Beau Welter. Survived by stepmother Edith Laine of Timmins. Predeceased by parents Alexander and Hilma (Iivonen) Laine, first husband Charles Bryers, brother Paul Laine and stepdaughter Carolynn Bennett (surviving spouse Wallace Kearney ). Miriam also joins her beloved sons Chuck and Paul Bryers (surviving spouse Anna). Miriam will be lovingly remembered for her courage, dedication to family and her many acts of kindness. Her positive, energetic nature will be greatly missed by many friends and relatives, especially cousin Henni Niskanen and her husband Wally of Tillsonburg and Linda Brady (Bruce) of Toronto. Miriam was an active parishioner and UCW life-member of Emmanuel United Church. She believed in the value of volunteer work in the community and was a recipient of the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 1999 after thirty years of service. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. B. Buckley, Mary Milne, Elena Cumming, Dr. P. Lopez, Dr. Leilah Palal, Dr. D. Want, Sharon Muskovitch, Irene Moore and the CCAC staff, Carol Owens and VON nurses, Phil Harrison, Sharon Atkinson, Linda Cozac, Margit South and David Henshel for their care and compassion. A sincere thank you to all those whose visits, flowers, cards and calls brightened Miriam' s days over the past year. Visitation will take place at Martyn Funeral Home on Friday from 1 to 4 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3 pm at Emmanuel United Church, 395 Lakeshore Drive, North Bay.

Bertrand - Ray
Peacefully on Friday December 7, 2001 at North Bay General Hospital- McLaren Site. Ray, beloved husband of Hazel Emmeline (nee Hall), in his 89th year. Loving father of Viva Harrison (husband Ernie) of Callander, and Dianne St. Croix (husband Hugh) of Portugal Cove South, Newfoundland. Dear grandfather of Richard Beilhartz (wife Karen) of Whitby, Michelle Eagles (husband Brent) of Torbay, Newfoundland, Leigh St. Croix (Shari) of Labrador, and Christian St. Croix of St. John's, Newfoundland; and great-grandchildren Emily & Jacob Eagles, and Alexandra Beilhartz. Peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, on Tuesday, February 19, 2002. June was the beloved wife of the late Earl Publicover. Dear sister of Muriel Wamback of Halifax, Doris Crowell of Shelburne, and Melburne Conrad also of Shelburne. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 25th, at 11:00 am, in the chapel at Forest Lawn cemetery , North Bay.

Wallace - Winnifred Isabella
At Cassellholme, North Bay on Friday June 14, 2002. Winnifred Isabella Presley, beloved wife of the late Robert F. Wallace, who predeceased her in 1989. Dearly loved mother of Jane Hancock and her husband Randy of North Bay. Born in 1913, Winnifred was the daughter of Cobalt pioneers the late Fred & Isabella Presley. A registered nurse by profession, Winnifred worked in several places in the United States and Ontario. She was a former resident of Toronto and moved to North Bay in 1997 to be with her family. In accordance with her wishes no visitation or funeral service will take place. Following cremation, the interment of ashes will be at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Willowdale

Mr. Laing - Gary Clare
Born on January 28, 1933 in Toronto, Ontario. Passed in North Bay, into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Greatly missed by his Wife Audrey (nee Perron), Children: Mark of Toronto, Brent (wife Diane) of Tennessee, Gary Jr. (wife Bev) of Richmond Hill, Darren (wife Sandra) of Toronto, and Debra (husband Dave Goodfellow) of North Bay. Predeceased by his youngest son Grant. Fondly remembered by 15 grandchildren: Ashley, Jonathan, Nathan, Chris, Amy, Jason (wife Kate), Crystal, Monica, Cameron, Owen, Ian, Spencer, Ruth, Matthew & Nicolas. Also survived by a brother Brock (wife Adrienne) of Kingston. Predeceased by parents Archie & Ruth of Bala, and a brother Earl (wife Dorothy) of Barrie. Visitation will be held the Martyn Funeral Home (464 Wyld Ave., North Bay) on Friday June 21st from 7: 00 –9:00 pm. Funeral will follow Saturday, June 22nd, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel.

Paul - Michael Sr. '"Kush" '
passed away peacefully on June 21st, 2002 at the age of 77 years. Born on July 16th, 1924, he will be greatly missed by children; Linda (Dean), Mike (Cathy), Alex (Tracy), Betty Ann (Tom), Arnold (Chris) and Vriginia (Pete); and 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nephew Leo Paul and many friends. He is predeceased by wife Roseanne, daughter Lucy and grandson Eric. Our family wishes to thank Leisureworld and staff. Blair - Jean Vivian
passed away at home on Saturday June 22, 2002 in her 89th year. Dear wife of Aberdeen. Loving mother of Connie Russell (Ian) of Callander and Bill Blair of Edmonton. Sadly missed by her granddaughters Marni and Lesley. Aberdeen and Jean would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 1st of this year. A family service was held this morning at the Martyn Funeral Home. Cremation.

Suddenly at home on Saturday June 22, 2002 at 67 years of age. Daer wife of Bill. Loving mother of Gregory of Oshawa, Douglas (wife Giselle) of North Bay, Bradley of North Bay and Scott (friend Sue Chenier) also of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandsons Evan and Mathew Floyd. Also missed by Sue’s children Joseph, Kevin and Eric. Survived by brothers Joe, Sterling and Melvin (Linda) and by sisters Ellen and Carolyn. Predeceased by her parents Leonard and Hazel Biglow and by brothers Wayne, Brian and Dwight. There will be no visiting or service. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.
