STAMP (nee Winter) - Constance Ernestine
At Cassellholme on Monday May 12, 2003 in her ninety-seventh year. Beloved wife of the late Lorne Stamp. Loving mother of Lorraine Hobin (Cecil), Lois Carey (Ross), and Lloyd Stamp (Pat). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Steven Carey (Annabel), Ruth Gauthier (Mark), Penny Phillips (Dwayne), Paul Hobin (John Matea), Scott Stamp (Ruth), and Leslie Stamp; great-grandchildren Raymond, Michael, and Graham Gauthier, Samantha Carey and Avery Phillips. Sister of Ernest Winter, Oshawa. Predeceased by her parents, Helen and Ernest Winter, husband Lorne, sister Dorothy Winter and brother Herbert Winter. The family will receive friends at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Thursday May 15, 2003 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Friday May 16, 2003. Interment to follow at Terrace Lawn cemetery.

DAWBER - Dorothy
Peacefully on Sunday May 11, 2003 at Cassellholme. Dorothy, beloved wife of the late George Dawber, in her 92nd year. Loving mother of Allan (wife Helen) of Comax, B.C., and Doug of North Bay. Dear grandmother of Linda Neault (Bob), Theresa Castonguay (John), and Janet Finley (Mark); great-grandmother of Andrew, Kevin, Rebecca, and Jessica. She will be sadly missed by her niece Carol Verch (Lloyd) and their son Kyler. Predeceased by her daughters Janet Dawber and Shirley McIntyre (Don). A private family service will be held with interment at Terrace Lawn cemetery.

A donation to the North Bay Humane Society would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

LABRICK (nee Ferris) - Marjorie
On Sunday May 4, 2003 at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site in her 81st year after a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Sudbury, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Annie (Armitage) and Fred Ferris. Predeceased by her husband M.P. (Larry) Labrick and by siblings Lloyd Ferris (Julie), Eleanor Heller (Richard, deceased) and Dorothy Calcott (Bryce). Survived by sisters Ruth McKee (Jack) and June Lafrance (Joe, deceased) of North Bay. Beloved mother of Terry Labrick (Dorothy) and Carol Richardson (Ken). Cherished grandmother (Dommie) of Neil and Greg Richardson. Will be sadly missed by step granddaughters Robin Kells and Jacquie Kells-Kennedy, as well as several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a long-standing member of the Lambda Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and a loyal supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23. Her primary focus in life was always her family, but she was keenly interested in everyone she met. At Marjorie's request there will be no visitation. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium, Tower Dr. A private family memorial service will follow. If desired donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

WHITEN - Clifton John Findlay
Died at North Bay, on Saturday, May 3, 2003. Cliff Whiten, was the beloved husband of Barbara Jean Stevens, in his 64th year. Father of Shauna Jane Difranceso of Hamilton and Megan Anne Whiten of Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anne Whiten and by his brother Reg. Visitation will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Friday, May 9th from 1:00 until time for a Memorial Service to celebrate Cliff's life and work, in the Chapel at 3:00 PM.

Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium with interment of ashes in the family plot in St. Catherine's.

SCOTT (nee Tuck) - Helen Ruby
passed away after a brief battle with cancer, but otherwise very healthy life, on Wednesday April 9, 2003, in her 96th year. Wife of the late Herbert William Scott; beloved mother of Stanley, Robert (Barb), Joanne Bernier and Beverley Pruneau (J.P.); grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 28. Helen was an accomplished singer and long-time member of St. John's Anglican Church. She was a long-time member and past Worthy Matron of the Fidelis Chapter 99, Eastern Star. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Sunday April 13, 2003 from 2-4 and 7:30- 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church on Monday April 14, 2003 at 11 am. Eastern Star service will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at 7 pm. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium (Tower Dr.). Interment of ashes at St. John's Anglican cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Primate World Relief and Development Fund, the Bible Society or the World Blind Mission would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

COUCHIE (nee Guppy) - Dianna "Ruth"
Peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends, on Wednesday, April 9, 2003. Dianna Ruth Guppy, in her 62nd year. Loving mother of Lori St.Pierre and her husband Rick, Jan Couchie and her husband Randy Sasyniuk, Jackie Folz, Tracey and her husband Robert Bedard, Kim Couchie and her husband Kirby Mianskum and Shannon Couchie all of North Bay. Her 16 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters will lovingly remember grandma. Dearly loved by her siblings Carol Guppy, Aubrey Guppy, Betty Guppy all also of North Bay, Eva Couchie of Marathon, Jim Guppy of Toronto and Patrick McCart and Dorothy McCart both of Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Gordon Guppy and Helen "Nellie" Turner and by her brother Glen Guppy and son in law Dave Folz.

Ruth's family will receive friends in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Thursday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 and Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held at the North Bay Indian Friendship Center on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A tribute service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home. Cremation to follow.

McKENZIE - Nancy Cathcart
Died at Nipissing Manor Nursing Home, on Monday, April 7, 2003. Nancy Cathcart Sawers, was the beloved wife of Gordon McKenzie, in her 82nd year. Loving mother of Wendy and her husband Gordon Langille and Joanne and her husband Gary Lumsden both of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Gordon, Jason, Bryan, Erica, Tania and by her great grandson Jacob. Predeceased by her brothers James and George Sawers, her sister May Rowe and by her cousin and travelling companion Giles Brown. She will be sadly missed by her friends Cecile and Lucy. Nancy was one of the original members of the Peer Support Program at Cassellholme, she thoroughly cherished the lasting friendships that were made there. At Nancy’s request a Private Memorial Service was held at Castle Arms 1. Internment will be held in June at St. John’s cemetery in Toronto.

McKAY - Marie
Died at home on Monday April 7, 2003. Anna Marie McKay was the beloved daughter of the late Asa and Zelma McKay (formerly of Englehart) in her 81st year. Loving sister of Jean Conroy (the late Robert James Conroy) of Pembroke. Sadly missed by her nephews Michael Conroy (wife Kandy, son Craig) and Terry Conroy (wife Ann Marie, daughter Chelsey) and by her niece Debbie Sidock (husband Gerry, daughter Shannon, son Kyle). Marie worked for over 35 years for the Bank of Nova Scotia in North Bay. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) this evening from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 1 pm. Interment at the Terrace Lawn cemetery.

BAINBRIDGE - Erica Lynn Jay
Erica Lynn Jay Bainbridge passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, the fifth of April, 2003 in her 30th year. Erica is predeceased by her mother Kathy, two brothers, Derrick and Keith, and a sister Lisa. She will be interred in her mother's arms when conditions permit. Erica is survived by her soul mate, Sean Dickieson; two loving children, Jadzea and Cameron; a stepson Terran; her father Randy; sister Kelly; her grandmothers Althea Oliver (Bainbridge) and Kathleen Rose Petten; and many aunts, unlces and cousins from both the Bainbridge family and the Petten family.

PENTY - Donald M.
After a life well lived, died peacefully on April 4th, 2003 while in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Flora for 66 years. Dear father of Robert (Ann), Arthur (Rowena), David (Shari) & Donna Dorschner (Michael). Cherished grandfather of Robin O'Luanaigh, Deanna Grieg, Stacy and Matt Turner, Douglas, Ryan, Mike, Daniel and Rebecca Penty, David and Dana Dorschner, and great grandfather of Liam and Patrick O'Luanaigh. Survived by brothers and sisters Mac, Bob, Marie, Pauline Boseley, Margaret Pope, Ena Ewald, and Vera Hallett. Don curled for many years at the Granite Club, was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a retired master mechanic with Armbro Construction. He was an integral contributor to the development of many Northern Ontario Roads. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home (across from city hall) on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church, Cassells Street, on Wednesday April 9th at 1:30 p.m. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes in Forest Lawn cemetery.

Don will be sorley missed but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

WALKER - Mabel Olive
Died at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Care Centre, on Wednesday, April 2, 2003. Mabel Olive Ellerton, was the beloved wife of the late George James Walker, in her 79th year. Loving mother of Jim Walker of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her grandsons Ryan and Ian. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium, with interment of ashes in the family plot in the Terrace Lawn cemetery.

MEWETT - Viola May
At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Thursday March 27, 2003, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Douglas 'Ron' Mewett. Dearly loved mother of Douglas and his wife Judith of Scarborough, Chris and her husband Howie Eldon of North Bay and Laurie and her husband Richard Gooley of Richmond Hill. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Anne Butler (husband Phil), Graham Mewett (partner Tanya Ingwersen), Keith Mewett and Emily Mewett, Dana Eldon and Jonathon Mancini (partner Stevie Reid). Also missed by her great grandchildren Erica and Owen Butler. Survived by her sisters Myrle (Len) Stewart and Jackie (late Stew) Walker. Predeceased by her sister Lottie (late Tr evor) Prescott. Sadly missed by her brother Don (wife Shirley) and sister Darlene (husband Roy). Survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews .
