Karl Kortuz

passed away peacefully, on October 30, 2006, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 86. Survived by daughter Sigrid Finnie of Kitchener. Grandfather of Casey, Brandon and Matt all of Kitchener. Great-grandfather of Alex. Brother of Gertrude and Werner Reynolds of Australia. Step-father of Elizabeth Koubena of Greece and Bob Schmall of Calgary. Niece Elvie of Kitchener. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews in Germany.
Predeceased by his first wife, Erica, and his second wife, Catherine.
At Karl’s request, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467.

Bernie Schulze

SCHULZE, Bernie - Peacefully at his home in Owen Sound, surrounded by the love of his fiancée, Bernie went to be with his Lord, on Thursday, May 10th, 2007. Bernd Christian Schulze, of Owen Sound, in his 54th year. Dearly beloved fiancée of Dr. Susan Schultz. Loving son of Jenny Schulze, of Waterloo. Dear brother of Pastor Paul Schulze and his wife, Jane and Helga Brazeau and her husband, Gary, both of Kitchener. Dear uncle of Jeremy Brazeau and his wife, Lindsay and Beth Brazeau. Bernie will be sadly missed by his cousins, Norbert Schulze and his wife, Teresa, of Unionville and Patricia Knights, of Kitchener. Predeceased by his father, Bruno Schulze (2005). Bernie was a dedicated employee of T. D. Waterhouse in Owen Sound for 10 years. A Memorial Service for Bernie Schulze will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 - 14th Street West, Owen Sound (519-376- 7492) on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Paul Schulze officiating. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice, as your expression of sympathy.

Marie Lulu Simpson

SIMPSON, Marie Lulu - On Saturday, May 12, 2007 surrounded by her family and friends at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound. Daughter of the late Mabel Chapman and Harry Simpson. Survived by her best friend Shirley McArthur, nieces Lynda Hammond (Harold) of Kitchener, Millie Locking and Reta Parkes of Owen Sound, Ardelle Hornback of B.C., nephews Larry Cole of Lucknow and Kelly Cole of B.C.. Also remembered by her sister Merle Keeling Boyd and her brothers Kenneth and Allan Cole. Proud and dedicated member of Branch #6 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary. Friends are invited to the TANNAHILL FUNERAL HOME 519- 376-3710 for visiting on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock with Dr. Brad Clark officiating. McFAYDEN, Lorna (nee Miller) - The family announces with sorrow her passing; at the Bingham Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning April 21st, 2007 aged 80 years of Matheson. Loving mother of Paul (Debbie) of Matheson, Corinne (Brad) of North Vancouver, B.C., Christina of Thunder Bay, and Peter (Heather) of Oakbank, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cherished grandmother of Luc, Adam, Christian, Matthew, Melissa and Amy. Treasured sister of Jean McKenzie (John) of Matheson and Marvin (Marie) Miller of Sudbury. She was predeceased by her parents Clara (nee Smith) and Oswald Miller, brothers Lenard and Alex Miller and a sister Thelma Miles. Lorna was born in Rouyn, Noranda, Quebec and had been a resident of Matheson since 1955. She had been employed by the Twp. of Black River, Matheson and Joseph H. Kennedy School for 25 years. Lorna was a 18yr member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 268, member of the Agricultural Society and the Matheson Crafters Club. Remembrance donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society through the funeral home will be gratefully acknowledged. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday May 16th, 2007 at 12:30pm. DANARD, Susan Marie - Suddenly at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Thursday May 10th, 2007. Beloved wife of Steven. Loving mother of Caitlyn, Bailey, Jacob, Zachary and Stephanie. Dear daughter of Ross and Elaine Lake. Sadly missed by her sister Janice McLean and her brother James Lake. Loving daughter-in-law of Avery and Muriel Danard, and sister-in-law of Arthur, Debbie and Terri. Fondly remembered by the rest of her family and friends. Kevin Lamport

LAMPORT, Kevin - of Wiarton passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2007 in his 58th year. Dearly loved father of Jackie and Dylan of Wiarton and loved husband of Joanne. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Gayle Fluter and her husband Bill, his sister Barbara Webster and her husband Bill as well as nephews Steve and Matthew Fluter and Art, Neil and Greg Webster all of London. Kevin was predeceased by his parents June (Clarke) and Roy Lamport. Kevin was a graduate of Loyalist College, Belleville and worked as an investigator for the Ministry of the Environment of Owen Sound. He is fondly remembered by his co- workers in the Ministry as well as his friends from the Exeter area. Family and friends are invited to visit the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Friday May 18th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and attend the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19th. Cremation has taken place. In memory of Kevin, donations made to Ducks Unlimited or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

E. Jean (nee Corley) Richardson

RICHARDSON, E. Jean (nee Corley) - Born August 14, 1911. While enjoying her favorite activity of travelling, she slipped peacefully from this world to be reunited with her late husband, Bob. She is lovingly remembered by her children Francis (Susan), Michael, Robert (Christine), her grandchildren John, Lisa, Jean, Tara, Kelly, Terri, Emily, and her great-grandchildren Jayson, Chelsea, Alexa, along with her nieces and their families. Pre-deceased by her sister, May and brother, Harve and most of her many friends. Wherever she lived or travelled, Meaford was always home and now she is back to stay. Visitation at the GARDINER-WILSON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, May 17th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral at Christ Church Anglican on Friday, May 18th at 1:00 pm; Interment Lakeview cemetery , Meaford. James Ernest Melbourne Hemphill

HEMPHILL, James Ernest Melbourne - (1924-2007) It is with great sadness that the family of Ernie Hemphill announce his passing on Sunday June 17, 2007 at his home in Beaverton Ontario. He was surrounded by his family, wife Evelyn Joyce (Scooter) nee Coulson daughters Karen Rogers (Michael), Susan Maynard (Dave), Michele Skinner (Bill d.) and his son David (Tammy). He will be greatly missed by his sister Jean Robertson of Vancouver and her family Linda and Heather and his sister Georgina Martell of Toronto and her daughter Mary Ellen. He was a proud Grandpa to Meaghan, Sarah, Daniel, Mark, Leanne, Katie, Christopher (d) and Ryan (Christina). Ernie was a people person and he included everyone in his wide circle of close friends. He had a zest for life that was contagious and he will be deeply missed. Ernie's final wish was to be buried along side his mother in Tignish and following his cremation the family intends to return him to the Island he loved. There will be a private family gathering followed by a celebration of Ernie's life on August 4, 2007 at the Maynard family farm in Cannington Ontario. Please come and share your stories of a life well lived. If desired donations to the Canada Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Norma Kelly

KELLY, Norma - passed away peacefully at the Golden Manor, Home For The Aged in Timmins on Friday June 22nd with family by her side. Treasured sister of Helen (Late George) Mills. Cherished aunt of Jud (Jenn) Mills, Maureen (Jeff) Rintamaki, Lance and Brian Hodgkinson. Devoted great-aunt of Senja and Saija Rintamaki, and Emilie Mills. Predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Kelly and her sister Virginia Hodgkinson. Norma was born in Barrie and devoted her life to teaching and being a guidance counselor at Barrie Central Collegiate. During the Second World War she took pride in knitting for the soldiers serving over seas. She was a member of the United Church of Canada, the founder and president of the Cookie Club, and an avid reader and world traveller. Above all Norma drew great pleasure from spending time with her family, her great nieces were the light of her life. A funeral service celebrating Norma's life will be held at STINSON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday June 23rd, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Tisdale cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday June 23rd, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Golden Manor or the charity of your choice will be greatly acknowledged by the family. Anne Violet (nee Krznaric) Mavrinac

MAVRINAC, Anne Violet (nee Krznaric) - Peacefully, with dignity and serenity, at her residence in Oakville, Ontario. Born in Krizpolje, Croatia, she immigrated to Canada in 1932 living in the Schumacher and South Porcupine communities for most of her life. She was born into Eternal Life on June 20, 2007, in her eighty-third year while surrounded by her loved ones; her husband of fifty nine years Ivan, her devoted son and care-giver Edward Joseph, her niece Sandra Krznaric Gagnon and her loyal friends and nurses Sandra Tomney and Ann Craven. Devoted mother of John (Jean) of Porcupine, Ontario, and Richard (Mary) of Mississauga, she was the cherished "Grandma” of John Mavrinac (Pam), Alison Warne (Devon), Alanna, Maia, Ricky, Julie and Michael Mavrinac and the adored "Baba” of great-grandsons John and Alexander Mavrinac. Predeceased in 1994 by her youngest brother Frank Krznaric (Laurie) of Porcupine, she is also survived by her brother John Krznaric (Anne) of Oakville and her brother Joe Krznaric (Bonnie) of Schumacher. The loved "Teta Annie” of numerous nephews, nieces, great- nephews and great-nieces in the Chu, Krznaric, Gagnon and Iannetta families, she is also the respected matriarch and cousin of the Krznaric families of British Columbia and the Milakovic families of Ontario. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home (64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville) on Sunday June 24, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with prayers at 8:00 p.m. Visitation also on Monday June 25, from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Anne's rich and productive life at Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Church (2110 Trafalgar Road North, Oakville) at 7:30 p.m. Private interment. In lieu of flowers the family will graciously accept donations to Anne's chosen charities, namely the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Holy Trinity Croatian Parish - Caritas, Croatia and Spruce Hill Lodge (Porcupine, Ontario). Sincerest thanks to Doctors Byrne, McPhaden and Da Silva for their care and continuous support. Anne will be remembered for her vitality, intellect, kindness, strong faith and love for her family. He was a much loved Grandpa to his four grandchildren Erin, Stuart and Nathan Walter and Brad Corrigan. Son of Ida Long and the late Ralph Topping. Brother of Barbara (Don Plummer), Paul Topping (Norma), Shelia Avery and the late Carol Shean. Cherished granmother of Nikki and Tyler, Kerri, Danny and Andie, Ryan and Cory, Jake and Christpher, Jacklyn and Jessica. Dear sister of Ron (Shirley) Parr, Ted (the late Jean) Parr, Murray Parr, Joyce (Ron) McEachern and the late Ken Parr, Lois Parr and Gloria (Jerry) Daley. Marilyn will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Family and friends will be received at the TOWNSHIP CHAPEL OF THE GORDON F. Murray Wills

passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, after a short battle with cancer on Thursday November 2, 2006 at the age of 62.
Beloved husband of Patricia Wills. Wonderful father of Heather Wills and Brenda (Mrs. Duane Becker); cherished grandfather (Papa) of Justin and Sarah Becker. Survived by his sister Donna (Mrs. Ed Doyle). Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Norma Wills. Murray will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.
Murray’s family will receive friends and relatives at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519-749-8467) on Thursday November 9 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. A memorial service for Murray will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place.

Saunders, Troy Gordon
passed away suddenly, Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the age of 43.
Dear father of Joshua (Mandy), Tyler and Joel. Grandfather of Andrew. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by his parents Dennis and Doris Saunders and his sister Tori Kaufman and her husband Tim, and their children Mitchell and Coral and his grandmother Amber Saunders. Loved always by his special aunt Jean Elsby.
Cremation has taken place. Troy’s wishes for a private family service will be honoured.

Burghardt Tessner

passed away after a long struggle with cancer on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital at the age of 70.
Beloved husband of 45 years to Lois Tessner. Loving father of Rick Tessner of B.C.; Patricia and Tim Lattner of Alabama; and Kevin Tessner and his wife Tammy Campbell of Kitchener. Dear grandfather of Andrew and Benjamin Lattner. Dear brother of Doris and Helmut Klockzin, and Manfred Tessner of Germany. Predeceased by his sister Renate and parents Erich and Dora Tessner.
Over the years Tom was passionate about playing, coaching and following soccer.
Tom’s family will receive relatives and friends from 12 noon – 12:45 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 PM.
Cremation has taken place.

passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday, November 2, 2006, at the age of 90 years.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Russell (2004) and the late Bernard Thorpe ( 1973). Loving mother of John (Linda) Thorpe, Lori (Mike) Topolay, Pat (Leo) Fisher and Tom Thorpe. Grandmother of Jeff Thorpe, Susan (Rob) Elston, Sandra, Trevor and Peter Topolay. Great-grandmother of Matthew, Andrew and Michaela. Sister of Marlene Solomon and Norma Messner.
Predeceased by her brothers, Jack Brenner, Carl Brenner, Ollie Brenner, Paul Brenner and her sisters, Mary Kropf and Alice Brenner.
Helen was a faithful member of St. Aloysius R.C. Church and long time member of the C.W.L. and the Rockway Senior’s Centre.
Helen’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:30-3:45pm on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral service will follow at 4:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
