MEWETT, Maura - North Bay General Hospital, Thursday, July 12, 2007. Maura Mewett (nee Gallagher) beloved wife of the late Leslie (Dick) Mewett in her 93rd year. Dearly loved mother of Richard Mewett (Brenda) of North Bay, Kitty Diegel (John) of Chisholm Township and Maureen Mewett (Don Morton) of Aurora. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Alexander and David Mewett. Dear sister of Michael (Mick) and Dolly Noone all of Ireland. Predeceased by her parents Anne and William Gallagher, two sisters and ten brothers. No visitation. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Centre would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

COURNEYA, Murray D. - passed away peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg after a courageous battle on Monday, July 9, 2007. Murray was the beloved husband of Barbara (predeceased). Cherished father of Elizabeth and her husband Christopher Brown and Allison and her husband Paul van Laren all of Cobourg. Loving and kind Poppa of Ariana, Alexa and Nikolas van Laren. Brother of Margaret and her husband Wesley Graham of Peterborough. In keeping with Murray's wishes a private service has taken place with interment at St. Peter's Catholic cemetery. Rachel's dedication as an educator and coach was surpassed only by her devotion to the family. Heartfealt thanks to all the wonderful doctors and nurses for their care and compassion in helping us through this difficult time. ARNOLD, Ronald Charles - 68, of Young's Point, Ontario, slipped into the loving arms of Jesus after a courageous battle with cancer on July 15, 2007. Born January 12, 1939 in Little Britain, Ontario. Son of Dr. John C. Arnold and Pearl M. (nee Short), both deceased, of Lindsay, Ontario. Survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 47 years, Jean; daughters Ruth Rahill and husband (CH) Major Roger W. Rahill of San Antonio, Texas; Janice Smith of Lincoln Park, N.J.; and son John and his wife Jocelyne of Collingwood, Ontario. Grandchildren Lydia and Naomi Rahill, Paul and Matthew Smith, Kyle and Lyndsay Arnold. Also survived by his sister Deanna Henderson of Stuart, Fl. Retired professor of heavy equipment at Fleming College, Lindsay Campus. Founder, along with his wife, of Arnelle Acres, currently part of Elim Lodge, on Pigeon Lake, established by his parents in 1945. Long-time member of Calvary Pentecostal Church, Peterborough. Winter resident of Sarasota, Fl. He will be sadly missed by his many relatives and friends. Friends will be received at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Thursday, July 19, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Frank Patrick officiating. Great grandmother of 3 and great-great grandmother of 2. Sister of Margaret Goodwin of Ottawa and the late Kay Goodwin, John Kay and Tom Kay (surviving wife Shirley). PARKIN, Dr. Herbert Garfield - February 27, 1916 - July 15, 2007 - In his 92nd year, passed away peacefully at the Belmont Long Term Care Facility in Belleville. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Eleanor McDonald. Son of the late Herbert George Parkin and the late Mabel Jane Pilkey. Predeceased by brothers William, Milton, Stanley and sister Eileen. Devoted father of Anna Lee Gordon (Les), late Herbert Ernest Parkin (Suz), Linda Louise Macdonald (late Ian), Mary Jane Goodchild (late Brian), and Margaret Rose (Peg) McComb (late Gary). Loving grandfather of Carey Lee Paches (Murray), Robert John Gordon, Bonnie Jean Gordon (Mark Palmer), Toby Parkin (Omar Punja), Trevor Parkin, Joshua Parkin (Jo), Andrew Macdonald, Jenny Mae Macdonald, (Jeff Chown), Tina Dorrans (Rosalyn), Jeannette Goodchild, Russell McComb, Jim McComb (Glenda). Great Grandfather of Robyn & Dale Paches, Marley Punja, Shelbie, Alison Bay, Olivia, & Carter Joshua Parkin and Eva McComb. Herb taught school for seven years after which he entered the Facility of Medicine, Queen's University, graduating in 1949. During the summer of 1950, Herb & Marg took over the doctor's practice and home on Forsyth St., Marmora where Herb practiced medicine with Marg's dedicated assistance for thirty-eight years (1950- 1988). Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the McCONNELL FUNERAL HOME Marmora from 7-9 pm Wednesday. Memorial Service in the Marmora Chapel on Thursday July 19th at 2:00 p.m. Interment Zion cemetery. Donations: Queens Medical School Foundation, St. Andrew's United Church or Charity of Choice.

Lovingly remembered by 12 grandchildren, Jerry, Allan, Joanna, Jason, Shane, Michelle, Kelly (deceased), Mark, Bryan, Chad, Jammie, Diane and seven great grandchildren. Dear sister of Marjorie Coates (Steve) and Irene Schultz (Gord). Predeceased by her parents Martha and John Watson, sister Eva Grant, Violet Brimley and brothers Hugh and Elmer Watson. Antoinette (née van den Broek) was the beloved wife of the late Jan Kools in her 81st. year. Dearly loved mother of Marie (Bill), Hans (Sharon), Frank (Lee), Rob (Marilyn) and Steve (Donna). She will be dearly remembered by her grandchildren, Terri-Lee (Halden), Christina (Dale), Darren (Emily), Colin (Katrina), Ean, Stacey (Greg), Tom, Eric, Nathan, Ryan, Megan and Danny and great-grandchildren, Owen and Bethany. Dear sister of Luce Dewolfe (Rien), Johanna Janssen (Harry), Kees (Johanna), Jeff (Jackie), Deet Lock (Dick), Bep (Stan). She will also be dearly remembered by 26 nieces and nephews and 54 great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Cecelia and Cornelius van den Broek and Cecile Newel. No visitation. Elsie, beloved wife for 62 years of the late John Coyle. Loving mother of David (Bette) of Cornwall, Richard (Lucille) of Camden East, Nancy (William Tait) of Peterborough and Kathy (Allen McLean) of Kingston. Loving grandmother of Lisa, Glenn (Tammy), Richard (Leanne), Jennifer, John, Christopher, Jonathan, David, Kimberly and Annetta. Also survived by seven great- grandchildren. Sister of the late Betty Dowd. She will be missed by many other friends and relatives. MARTYN-DOWDALL, Violet (nee Kellar) September 7, 1930July 16, 2007 - Violet (Vi) Isabel (nee Kellar), beloved wife of the late Wilfred Dowdall of Peterborough, ON, on Monday, July 16, 2007, at Chinook Hospice in Calgary, AB at the age of 76 years. Vi was born on September 7, 1930 and lived the majority of her life in Peterborough, ON. She was the oldest girl of fifteen children of Harold Kellar and Elizabeth Clements. She was married to Wilfred from 1948 until his passing in 1985. She recently moved to Airdrie, AB to be closer to her family. Vi was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her love of children. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Vi is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Robert Dowdall of London, Thomas Dowdall of Calgary, Shirley Sandham of London and Lori Kelk of Airdrie. Predeceased by his parents, William and Louise Rintoul. Beloved husband of Edna (nee Campbell). Dear brother of Jean Richardson. Donald served his country during WWII in the Royal Canadian Navy. Later he taught industrial arts at Lakefield District High School for 18 years. A graveside funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Forest Lawn cemetery in Orangeville at 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Mark Street United Church, Peterborough at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21st with visitation one hour prior to the service. If so desired, donations may be made to Sleeping Children Around the World or Mark Street United Church Memorial Fund.
