Pansy "Pat" Aleta Bowen
1930 - 2003

Pansy Aleta Bowen of Abbott St. Brockville, followed her beautiful path home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2003 from her home surrounded by her large and loving family in her 74th year. Following a long and hard fought battle with heart disease, she never stopped smiling or laughing to the end. Beloved wife of 55 years to Harry Bowen, most precious mother of Tom (Joyce), Fred (Sue), Bonnie Ridi (John), Rick (Kathy), Randy, Danny and Chris (Joanne). Proud and devoted Nan to Mark (Gail), Mathew (Maria), Sarah, David, Kelli, Amber (Joe), Jason (Stephanie), Michael, Cassie, Ben, Shawn, Randy, Mitchell, Jeremy, Brian and Steven. Adoring great nanny to Victoria, Joshua, Elizabeth and Olivia. Dear sister of Frances Merriman (David) and Joan Boisvert (Andy). Deeply missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ralph and Mildred Barker, her granddaughter Melissa Bowen, her brother Ralph Barker and by nephews David and Kevin Merriman.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 pm. A celebration of Pat's life will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 7 pm. Cremation at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland with interment at Oakland cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Jacqueline H. Johnston
1943 - 2003

On Wednesday, June 4th, 2003 at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital in her 60th year. Jacqueline (Sills) Johnston of Mallorytown. Beloved wife of Harry Johnston. Dear mother of Peter (Jody) of Mallorytown, Jennifer (Frank) Vargo of Alexandria Bay, N.Y., and Stephanie (Paul) Cudmore of Fergus. Loving grandmother of Joshua, Amanda and Kathryn Vargo, Cicely and Samuel Johnston and Hillary Cudmore. Also survived by her father Jack Sills of Belleville, her sister Barbara (Gary) MacDonald of Belleville, brother-in-law Tom (Louise) Johnston of Don Mills and mother-in-law Vida Johnston of Lindsay. Fondly remembered by her niece and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Berna Jane Sills.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday from 7-9 pm. A ceremony in celebration of Jacqueline's life will be held in the chapel on Friday at 1:30 pm. Cremation at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland with interment at a later date. In remembrance, donations to the Kingston Regional Cancer Centre or the Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged. Members of Beta Sigma Phi will assemble for a memorial tribute on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm.

Mary-Ellen Leslie
1932- 2003

passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a difficult illness on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, Brockville; the former Mary-Ellen McDonald, a native of Renfrew, and resident of Prescott, at the age of 70 years. Beloved mother of Brenda Peever of Ottawa, Patrick Leslie (Tammy) of Calgary, and Kevin Leslie (Penny) of Prescott. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Sandra, Katherine, Jennifer and Danielle Peever, Samantha and Paige Leslie. Dear sister of Elizabeth Stewart of Nepean and loving aunt of Susan, Sherry and Stephen. Predeceased by her husband John Leslie, her parents Patrick and Viola McDonald, and her brother-in-law Rod Stewart.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Saturday from 1pm until 2:45pm. In celebration of Mary-Ellen's life a ceremony will be held in the Chapel on Saturday at 3pm. Cremation to follow at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium with interment at Union cemetery , Port Hope at a later date. In remembrance, donations to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care will be gratefully acknowledged.

Martina Green
1925- 2003

Peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the age of 78 years. Beloved wife of Alexander Green of Brockville and loving mother of Robert McCord and his wife Kimberly of Mississauga. Dear stepmother to Janice Smith (Dan) and Julie Green all of Brockville. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Shannon McCord, Alex and Erik VanderMeulen, Charles, Lauren and Kylie Smith. Also survived by her sister Colleen Lloyd of Ottawa, her brother Lawrence Fitzgerald of Kingston and several nieces and nephews.

The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church on Tuesday at 10 am followed by cremation at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland. Interment at St. Francis Xavier cemetery at a later date. In remembrance, donations to the St. Francis Xavier School Breakfast Club would be gratefully acknowledged.

Jessie Mary Rieveley
1912 - 2003

Quietly the way she lived her life, at the Brockville General Hospital on June 14, 2003 at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of William Arthur Rieveley .Dear mother of Mary Cooke (Rodney) and Kathy VanDusen (Carman) all of Brockville. Dear grandmother of Robert Koktan, Diane and David Cooke and Jessica VanDusen (Chris O'Grady). Also survived by a sister Marjorie MacDonald of Surrey B.C. Predeceased by a daughter Hilda Leigh, a sister Dorothy Code and by a brother Ted Jackson.

At Jessie's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted with the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel 4 James Street East Brockville. Cremation will take place at Roselawn Crematorium, Maitland. In remembrance, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.

Mikael Buell, Ph.D., M.D.
1955 - 2003

At Kingston on May 12, 2003 in his 49th year. Beloved son of the late Katharine Fretwell Buell and Hubert Buell. Fondly remembered by his cousins Janet Davison (Doug), Jim Poole (Bev), Jean Bissonnette, Joel Poole (Linda), Linda Goertzen all of Brockville, Julie Hunter (Simon) of Pickering, Carol Fretwell of British Columbia, Charles Buell (Gert) of Mallorytown, Jamie Buell of Perth, Cynthia Thomas of Bermuda, Esther Donaldson of Glenburnie, Molly Olshefsky of Ottawa, Nan Mills of Verona, George C. Buell and Richard V. Buell both of Timmins, Ann Tyfield of Bristol, England, Susan Smart of Elliott Lake, Judy Kinghorn of Mississauga, Dick Murray of Vaudreuil, Quebec, Dianne Rector of Kitchener, Lynn Robson of Arnprior, Pam Buell of Brockville and Carol Ann Buell of California.

A celebration of Dr. Mikael Buell's life will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 1 o'clock. Interment will follow at Oakland cemetery. Jack Sherwin Thompson
1924 - 2003

At the Brockville General Hospital on Friday, May 16, 2003 at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of the late Patricia C. (Sinfield) Thompson. Dear father of David (Molly) of Brockville, John (Kathleen) of Manitoba, Robert of Kingston, and Sandra Sicard (Wayne) of Brockville. Fondly remembered by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Brother of Dawn Caniff (Gene), Pat Smith (Spike) and Ross Thompson. Predeceased by parents Sherman and Effie Thompson, by his brother Burley Thompson and sisters Sandra Sallens (Roger) and Phyllis Palmatier.

Suddenly at the Brockville General Hospital on May 21 2003 in her 75th year. Gwendolyn Elaine McCaw Meldrum Empey of R.R. 1 North Augusta. Beloved wife of Don Empey and the late Roger Meldrum. Dear sister of Irene Jonkman of Brockville, Frank McCaw (Jeannine) of Prescott, Marjorie Meldrum (Robert) of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Hugh McCaw of Lyndhurst. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Dear step-mother of Philip Albert and his wife Doris of Montreal, and Anne Marie Albert of Texas. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Esley-Anne and Darren Albert.

On Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital; Audrey (Nowlan) Hodge at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of the late Gordon David Hodge. Loving mother of David (Ada), James, Raymond (Donna), Kenneth (Elaine), Norman (Joan) and Ralph (Loreen). Fondly remembered by 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and by her great grandchildren. Dear sister of Orva Mallette, Una Morrow, Lorne Nowlan, Ronald Nowlan and Robert Nowlan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Jim, Forrest, Gerald and Cecil Nowlan, and by her sister Betty Lou.

1949 - 2003

Peacefully after a lengthy illness, on Friday May 23, 2003 at the Pembroke General Hospital, at the age of 54 years. Loving daughter of Mick Sidney of Renfrew and the late Sylvia Sidney, who predeceased her of January 18, 2003. Beloved wife of Tim Galbraith of Cobden. Cherished mother of Michael Galbraith and his wife Alison of Brockville and Shelly Estabrooks and her husband Glen of Cobden. Dear sister and best friend of Cathy Galbraith and her husband Bill of Pakenham and Susan Sidney of Renfrew. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and many friends.
