Peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2003, at age 90. Husband of the late Mary Fairbairn Torrance. Beloved father of Lynn (Peter Lonstrup), Janice (Robin Porter), Michael (Nancy) and Deborah Rosenlund. Dearly loved grandpa of Elizabeth, Michael, Kyle, Richard, Kristina, Susie, David, Julia and Cameron and great-grandpa of Noah, Max, and Kennedy. He was a member of the late Royal Canadian Dragoons and served with IV Princess Louise Dragoon Guards during WWII. Before his retirement from the Carleton Board of Education in 1978 he was Head of Guidance at Merivale High School, he was also a member of Council at Manotick United Church, a Youth Education Officer and the long-time Secretary of Branch 314 Royal Canadian Legion and founder and Past-President of Rideau Seniors. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry. Those wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice.

Peacefully in Ottawa on July 24, 2003 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Suzanne. Cherished brother of Yvonne, Christiane, Antoinette, Sister Mary Joseph (Madeleine) Albert, Godelieve, Monique and his brother-in-law Jacques. He also leaves behind his adopted children, Marie-Pierre, Xavier, Jean-Francois, Dominique; his grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Paul was born in Bruges, Belgium after an important period of twenty years in L'Abbaye de Maredsous, he emigrated to Canada in 1964. He was a teacher in Ste-Therese-de-Blainville, in Matagami, in Farnham, in Touraine (St-Alexandre College) and in Ottawa (Lycee Claudel and Ottawa University). As well as being a teacher he was an expert in UNESCO in Africa. Ret'd Principal - Ottawa Board of Education and Veteran WWII Mac passed away very suddenly early Sunday, July 27, 2003. Mac was the dearly beloved husband and best friend of "Phyl" Phyllis Mary (Milne). Cherished father of Heather Esdon (Douglas West), Barbara (Robert McCue) and Scott (Heather Strong). Very special Grandpa to Christopher West, Nicholas McCue, Andrew Esdon and Ryan Esdon. Brother-in-law of Joyce Mueller and Gordon Milne. Son of the late A. Herbert and Belle Esdon of Cornwall. Brother of the late W. Stuart Esdon of Napanee, ON and the late R. Russell Esdon of Vancouver, BC. Mac also filled the role of special cousin and uncle. He was a highly respected teacher and later Principal with the Ottawa Public School Board from 1951 to 1984. Willing volunteer and helper in the community, a devoted and active member of Southminster United Church, good neighbour and enthusiastic member of the Navy Curling Club. Many will miss his kindness, caring, generosity of spirit and great sense of humour. Mac and Phyl celebrated their Golden Anniversary earlier this month. Bill was the Director General of the Information Technology Services Directorate of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, where he had worked for twenty- eight years.
