White, Alyssa 1986-2010

White, Alyssa Jean

Suddenly in Hamilton on Saturday August 14, 2010. Alyssa Jean White in her 25th year. Loving mother of Adrian and Christian. Beloved daughter of Tracey and John. Dearest sister of Victoria and Shawn. Dear granddaughter of Jean and Bryan. Alyssa will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A private family visitation will take place and a public memorial service will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME “William J. Markey Chapel” 947 Rymal Road East HAMILTON (905) 574-0405 on Thursday August 19, 2010 at 7 p.m. Cremation. Memorial donations may be made to Adrian and Christian’s Education Trust Fund.

Whittle, David Michael 1941-2009

Whittle, David Michael

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of David at “The Carpenter Hospice”, on April 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma and Melanoma Cancer. David was in his 49th year.

Dearly loved son of Joan and the late Derek Whittle (1999) of Burlington. Dearest brother of Diane and husband Jeremy Palmer of Caledon, Paul Whittle of Vaughan, and Karen and husband Steve Breitner of Dundas. Loving Uncle of Adair and Michelle Palmer, Kurtis and Drake Whittle, and Sarah and Jonathon Breitner. Dear nephew of Margaret and Raymond Whittle of England & Glenys and Abe Friesen of Manitoba. David was a 30-year employee of Smurfit-MBI of Burlington.

At David’s request there will be no funeral service and cremation has taken place. Visitation with our family will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, from 2- 4pm at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (behind Royal Botanical Gardens) BURLINGTON (905-527-0405).

Special Thanks to Nurse Stefanie Vermaas of Com-care, and all the staff at “The Carpenter Hospice” with special thanks to Nurse Becky, Heather, Alison & Sheila.

Peacefully at St. Peter’s Residence at Chedoke on Friday September 18, 2009 in this 82nd year. Loving Father of Bill (Debbie) and Brenda. Proud grandfather of Trevor (Lisa), Tammy (Torben), Codi and Danielle. Very Proud great grandfather of Brayden, Tyler and Kaitlyn. Cremation has taken place.

Wiecek, Michael 1921-2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband and father, Michael Wiecek, on February 21, 2010 in his 90th year. Husband of June for 60 years, proud and loving father of Lynda, Irene, Helen, Susie and Elizabeth, and father-in-law of Serge, George, and Gerry. Beloved grandfather of David, Paul, Nicholas and Katherine. He will be greatly missed by his brother and sister-in-law Henry and Marysia Wiecek and by his many nieces and nephews.

Dad loved having his family around him and had a great appreciation for nature. His main wish was that we would each be happy. He cherished time at the cottage and his life on the land and lake. He made a wonderful life in Canada for all of his descendents and we will honour his memory by living our lives to the fullest.

The service will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON.

Wilson, Bruce James 1941-2010

In his 70th year, beloved husband of Carole Anne Wilson. Peacefully on July 19, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital after living with ALS for the past 13 years. Much loved son of the late Earl and Frances Wilson. Dear son-in-law of Audrey Taylor and the late Herb Taylor. Dear loving father of Tim and his wife Julie, Tanya, Chris and his wife Michelle. Proud brother of Marlyne and the late Wayne Van Exan. Brother-in-law of Joyce and Ed Bothen, Ron and Ginny Taylor, Herb and Peggy Taylor. Adored Poppa to Courtney, Zachary and Azure-lee. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He went out of his way to bring joy to all those he encountered. His passion for life was infectious. Tireless advocate and supporter of the ALS Society of Ontario. Bruce received the 2005 Hamilton Health Sciences Cornerstone award for his work with patients and hospital administration identifying and improving wheelchair accessibility at McMaster University. He was a resource for students studying the needs of the physically challenged. His work with the students earned him the designation of Professional Associate from McMaster University. Life long member of All Saint's Anglican Church. He was a server and recipient of the Order of Niagara. Long time member and Inky award winner with Hamilton Theatre Inc. Special thanks to the loving care given by the medical teams in the BTU, General Hospital and the rehab team at St Peter's hospital Dr. Turnbull was a constant resource to Bruce during his long battle with ALS. Friends will be received at Bay Gardens Funeral Home (1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington, ON 905 527 0405 - located directly behind the Royal Botanical Gardens) on Wednesday July 21 from 2-4pm & 7pm-9pm A service to celebrate Bruce's life will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday July 22 at 10 am. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to The ALS Society of Ontario or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Wilson, Catherine Fraser 1935-2009

Suddenly on June 1, 2009 Catherine Fraser Wilson born on October 4, 1935 in Dundee, Scotland in her 74th year passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She is predeceased by her husband David and survived by her brother George (Maureen) Brown. Devoted mother to Grant, Valerie (Terry) and Gary. Loving grandmother to Katrina, Cassandra, Kyle, Zachary, Alexandra, Také, Emily and Rose. Mother-in-law to Marian and Chieko. Special friend to Mary Thompson and Wendy Jackson. Friends will be received at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Rd. E (between Upper Gage and Upper Ottawa) HAMILTON (905-574-0405) on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 1pm-2pm. A Celebration of Catherine’s life will be held in the Chapel at 2pm. A reception will follow.

passed away peacefully at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, on July 27, 2009 (3 days after his 66th, birthday).

Beloved husband of Iris, loving father of Tiffany and Angela and her husband, Eric, devoted "Pappi" of Sophia, brother of Trish (Matt) and Don (Mary).

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Dr (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens), BURLINGTON (905-527-0405), on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, from 11am until Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, ICU Department, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

WILSON, Muriel (née Jensen)

Peacefully, at the Henderson Hospital, on March 14, 2010 in her 82nd year. Loving wife of Rocky (predeceased). Dear mother of Sandra, Garry (predeceased), and Denise. Cherished Grandma of Len, Tammy, Daryl, Becky, Amanda and Chris, and 9 great-grandchildren. Special sister to Leona of Florida. Predeceased by siblings Lorrie, Marie, Jack, and Thelma. Auntie to many nieces and nephews and remembered by many friends.

Muriel was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Canadian Legion, Branch 163 and a pioneering member of the Old Hens (Young Chicks).

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 2-3pm with Celebration of Muriel’s Life taking place in the Bay Gardens Chapel at 3pm. Cremation has taken place.

Winnifred, Hickling 1928-2009

Peacefully, at Residence On Garrison Road, Fort Erie, Ontario on Monday, December 14th, 2009, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Hickling. Dear mother of Theresa and her husband Arthur Wagstaff, and Sharon and her husband James Cation. Loved by her grandchildren Keith Hickling, Dennis Wagstaff, Tammy Waugh and husband Terry, David Cation (wife Zoe,deceased), Steven Cation and Emma Leeder, Kimberley Auld and her husband Alleyn and Tina McIntee. Cherished great-grandma of Alanna and Brooks Cation, Katherine and Elizabeth Auld, Jack Cation, Nathaniel and Kaitlyn Hickling. Godmother of Bonnie Jean Rennie. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Eleanor Bailey. Survived by her sister Margaret Langley and brother Gordon Bailey, California. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 71, 130 Garrison Road, Fort Erie, on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at 11:00am. Lunch will be served following the service. Special thank you to Residence On Garrison caregivers for their years of kindness to Winie. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Winnifred, Ruby 1907-2010

McCaldon, Ruby Winnifred passed away on Friday February 26, 2010 at Park Avenue Manor, Burlington in her 103rd year. Beloved daughter of the late Percy and Alice Hull. Predeceased by her beloved husband Robert (1992) and brother Eddy (Ellen) and sisters Dorothy Flint (Ollie) and Iris France (Fred). Survived by sons Dr. Robert (Jane) of Hartington and David (Lynn) of Burlington. Grandmother of Kian (Marilyne), Morra, Lisa, Sue (Chris) and Victoria. Great-grandmother of Sandy, Logan, Verity and Ginny. Born November 6, 1907 in Toronto and spent all of her married life in St. Catharines. Ruby was a member of First United Church and the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Park Avenue Manor, Burlington. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from Bayview cemetery , Crematorium and Mausoleum) BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Saturday March 6, 2010 from 10 a.m. until the time of a Celebration of Ruby’s Life in the chapel at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Wood, Malcolm Livesey 1932-2009

Malcolm passed away peacefully on Thursday March 5, 2009 after a courageous battle. With loving memories we are left to celebrate the life of our husband, father, grandfather and friend. Malcolm has left behind his beloved wife and best friend Brenda. Malcolm was the loving father of Bruce (Cheryl), Kirk, Shelley (Dave), and Tracey (Joe), and his grandchildren Todd and Trisha, Peter and Tommy, Emily and Emerson. He also leaves behind three step children Terry, Cheryl (JD), Kevin (Michelle), and their children with whom he has shared many memories. After retiring from Stelco (employee of 32 years), he enjoyed sailing and spent many happy hours with his golfing buddies. Malcolm will be greatly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Malcolm’s Life will be held at the home of Cheryl and JD Morrow, 19 Rawlings Avenue, Hamilton, ON (905-526-6852) on Sunday March 8, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Heartfelt thanks to the outstanding staff at McMaster I. C. U. and special thanks to Sandy, Victoria, and Maggie.
