Grabiec, Eleanor 1929-2010
Eleanor drew her first breath on Monday September 23, 1929 and she drew her last breath on January 16, 2010. She is mother to Christopher (John), Wendy, Les (Brenda) and grandmother to Nicole and Deanna. She leaves behind countless friends including her Tuesday group who she cherished throughout her earthly life. She is predeceased by her husband Charles (1986) and her mother Maria Dlugosz-Szostak (1950), and survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara and Alice. Her passion was her family and her gardens. Her life was about planting seeds – seeds of love and generosity in our hearts and seeds in the ground which produce abundant beauty and life in so many different ways. Those seeds within us and in the gardens of so many people will continue to bloom and give testament to her ongoing love and life. Special thanks to Wendy, Brenda, Tracey, Anne Woods and Dr. Bob Kemp staff, for all they did to help mom be comfortable in her last weeks. Suddenly at the Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton after a brief illness on Monday September 29, 2008, two weeks after his 65th birthday. Beloved partner and best friend of Audrey Hallett. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous and well fought 21 year battle with cancer, on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in his 79th year. Beloved husband of 57 years to Betty (nee Murray). Predeceased by his parents Sam and Nina Greer. Loving father to son Michael and his wife Helen, son Mark and daughters April (Pat) and Heather Greer. Loving Papa of Maegan, Julie and Robert. Survived by his sister Sheila Ridge and predeceased by his brother-in-law Don. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. Peter was a retired 34 year employee of Bell Canada and remained active weekly with the Bell Pensioner Group as well as volunteering with Glanbrook Home Support since 1991. Peter was extremely passionate about fishing and his long time love of motor sports. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the entire CCAC Home Support Team for their wonderful care, consideration and compassion, in particular to Dr. Khera.

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Otto Grunau at Queen’s Gardens Nursing Home on Friday, June 19, 2009 in his 85th year. Otto was the beloved father to Roland and his wife Linda, Harold and his wife Leisa and will be sadly missed by his granddaughters Kirsten and Madison. Loving brother to Greta Wehrmann and Wanda Kriehn and her husband Helmut and their families in Germany. With Otto’s passing will come tears and an empty spot in our hearts. It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing on Thursday February 11, 2010, of a loving husband, father, and grandfather in his 81st year. Alfonso was the beloved husband of Maria (nee Collura) and loving father of Roger (Pamela), Mariann Martin (Paul) and Charlie. He was the cherished Nonno of Nicolas, Laila, Chloe, Luke and Cole. Alfonso was the son of the late Orazio and Marianna Guagliano and the son-in-law of the late Cologero and Salvatrice Collura. He is also predeceased by his sister Crocifissa (Pietro) and brothers Sam (survived by Jovanna) and Ignazio (survived by Serafina). He will be missed by his brother´s-in-law; Charlie (Vinny), Salvatore (Dominica), the late Pietro (Cologera), Carmelo (Pat), Luigi (Margaret), and Joe (Teresa). Alfonso also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Alfonso will be remembered for the great love he has given to his loved ones and for the great life stories he would always share. Suddenly, while vacationing in Hawaii with dear friends, Maria Benson and Nelly Leys, our sweet Maman and sparkling gem passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009. She flew away to a Hawaiian paradise with a zest for life that will be with us forever. She had a compassionate way of loving everyone and touched so many lives in so many ways as a mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and true friend. She devoted her life to her family and those she cared deeply for. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Born in Bonaventure, Quebec, on May 17, 1927. She was the beloved daughter of the late Philip and Bertha McBrearty (nee Casey). Predeceased by her husband Yvon Guité; brothers Rubin, Albert, Harvey, Leo and sisters Ruby and Stella.
