Hazard, Phyllis 1914-2008

Peacefully at Cama Woodlands Nursing Home, Burlington on Sunday, October 19, 2008 in her 95th year. Companion of the late Victor Belanger and her late husband Clair Hazard. Devoted mother of Edith Hazzard (Ivan) of Burlington, the late Clinton Hazard, Bob Hazard (Trudy) of Mount Hope and Beverly Plourde (Rejean) of Sherbrooke. Cherished grandmother of Robert (Renée), Allan (Lisa), Annette (Patrick) and 8 great-grandchildren. Dear sister Ada Fafard of Granby, Quebec. Predeceased by brothers Albert, Earl, Harry and Harold. Daughter of the late Emily and Tom Ross. Phyllis will be fondly remembered by her friend Alice Price, nieces and nephews. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens), BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 7 p.m. The Reverend Gordon Bucek officiating. Cremation, Bayview Crematorium, Burlington with interment to follow in Bury, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to all the staff at Cama Woodlands, especially Jane, Sharron and Virginia.

Heagney, Sean 1939-2010

Sean died peacefully on Sunday June 13, 2010 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Freda for 47 years and greatly cherished father of Sean (Cindy) and Noreen (Mike). He will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren Max, Emily, Heather and Maggie. He is survived by his brothers in Ireland Tom-Joe (Phyl) and Paul (Dolly). Sean taught at Saint Jean de Brebeuf High School in Hamilton for many years and was held in great esteem by staff and students. Sean’s family and friends feel very blessed by happiness, love and laughter he brought into their lives.

Heidt, Karl 1934-2010

HEIDT, Karl

March 3, 1934 – March 3, 2010

Peacefully, with his loving family by his side, with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Karl Heidt on his 76th birthday, at the Henderson Hospital. Beloved husband and best friend of 54 years to Eva. Loving father of Silvia Angle, Margaret and her husband Frank Mastroianni and Karl Jr. and his wife Debra Heidt. Predeceased by his loving daughter Donna and survived by his son-in-law Angelo DiLegge. Cherished Opa to Sean and his wife Natalie, Blair, Daniella and her husband Giulio, Nadia, Serena, Casandra, Elysia and Katie. Much loved great-grandfather to Chayse and Bianca. Predeceased by his parents Karl and Franziska Heidt and his parents-in-law Josef and Eva Barth. Survived by his sister Erna Beer in Germany and brother-in-law to Kati and Flor Leitner of Austria and Dorothy Barth. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Gerhard Beer and Adam Barth. Karl will be remembered by his nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Germany and Austria.

Karl was born in 1934 in Beshka, the former Yugoslavia. In 1953, Karl immigrated to Canada. Karl and Eva were reunited and married in Canada in 1956 and began their family together. He excelled in his trade and was a member of the Bricklayers Local Union #1 for over 45 years. In 1959, he became a member of the Germania Club and shortly after joined the Fisher and Hunter Group. Karl will be remembered by many campers and close friends from the park and club. His memory will live on for the memorial walls and all his work that he donated to the Germania Park. For many years Karl was the “Chief Barbequer” at the annual picnics. Very special thanks to the staff at the Henderson Hospital, E3 Oncology Unit and to Dr. Sewchand and Dr. Kuruvilla for their special care.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel,” 947 Rymal Road E., HAMILTON (905-574-0405) on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Bay Gardens Chapel on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 9:30 am. Interment Woodland cemetery. Donations in memory of Karl to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Henderson, John (Jack) Robert 1947-2010

HENDERSON, John (Jack) Robert

December 23, 1947 – March 21, 2010

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Jack. Survived by his loving wife Gerri. Dear brother and brother-in-law to Theresa (Frank), Sam (Geri), Gary (Maria), Darlene (Leo), Christine (Drew), Gregory, Marjorie (Gary), Fred (Judith), Paul (Janine) and Patricia. Lovingly remembered by his god-children Jennifer, Michael, Carla and Emma and forever loved by his many nieces, nephews, family and all who knew him. Jack was a retired engineer with CNR – Via Rail with over 35 years of service. Cremation has been held at Bayview cemetery , Mausoleum & Crematorium.

A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel,” 947 Rymal Road E., HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 2:30 pm. Herring (nee Harris), Beverley Wray 1933-2008

Peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Walter Herring. Loving and devoted mother to R. Peter Herring of Hamilton and J. David Herring and his wife Rosetta Ferraro of Toronto. Cherished grandmother to Adam, Todd, Jody and Ryan. Predeceased by her brother Charles. Private visitation and Funeral Service will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Monday, February 4, 2008. Interment Burlington Memorial Gardens. Herron, Roy Ernest 1924-2009

passed away at McMaster Hospital on September 1st, 2009, in his 86th year. Predeceased by his parents, William and Rachel, four brothers, and one sister. Also predeceased by dear friend Anne McAra. Survived by brother Earl Herron and dear friend Wilma Held.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Dr (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens) BURLINGTON (905-527-0405), on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and Friday, September 4th, 2009 from 1:00 pm until Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Woodland cemetery.

Hilferty, Brian Thomas 1951-2009

On June 1, 2009 Brian left the loves of his life Sharon (Sharie) Mulkewich and daughter Caitlin Hilferty. Predeceased by father John, mother Marion, and brother Kevin. Survived by brothers John and Jim, sister Marion Meikle and their families. Brian was deeply loved and will be in our hearts and thoughts forever. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens) BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Private family funeral to be held. Hiltz, Randolph "Randy" Manning 1928-2009

HILTZ, Randolph (Randy) Manning

April 16, 1928 – July 15, 2009

Suddenly, at McMaster Hospital, Hamilton, on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, Randy Hiltz of 25 Best Avenue, Dundas, passed away in his 82nd year. Dear father of Esther and Dale. Predeceased by his wife Vera. Randy is survived by his brother Ivan (Ann) Hiltz of Berwick, NS, and sisters Jean Frost of Berwick, NS, and Hazel (Frank) Janowitz of Lower Sackville, NS. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Raymond Baker of Hamilton and sister-in-law Avis (Don) Baker of Courtenay, BC, Clara Larmand of Burlington and Joyce (Don) Dawson of Freelton. He will be sadly missed by family, many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours.

At the family’s request, cremation has taken place. If desired, expressions of sympathy can be made to a charity of choice. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Ward 4Z and Emergency Ward of McMaster Hospital for all of their care.

Hirasawa, George Herbert 1922-2010

After suffering complications from a stroke, George Herbert Hirasawa, born in Surrey, B.C. on December 1, 1922, died at the Hamilton General Hospital on March 8, 2010, surrounded by his family. George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce and his children Patti (Tom) Simpson, Derick (Nelly), Jack (Joyce), Jeannette (Kent) Moore, Tami (Dave) Mayer and Tim (Lesley). He leaves to mourn his brothers John (Sue), and Goro (Grace), his sister-in-law Atsuko and his brother-in-law Yosh Noguchi. George was pre-deceased by brothers and sisters Takeo, Kay, Mary, and Tolmie. Jii-chan is also survived by his grandchildren Anri, Toshio, Takeo, Jared, Darren, Aiden, Shawna, Alexander, Jaden, Ben, and Naomi.

In 1942 during WWII he was evacuated to Welling, Alberta, later relocating to Taber, Alberta where he worked on sugar beet farms. In 1955 he married Joyce in Taber and moved to Hamilton, Ontario where he worked as a chick sexer at Bray Hatchery. Later he worked for Martin Feed Mills in Elmira, Ontario for 25 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, shot 3 holes-in-one, loved all kinds of games, puzzles (crossword and Sudoku) and became a computer enthusiast. He loved gardening and he received tremendous joy from spending time with his grandchildren. Jii-chan will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 2pm-4pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Bay Gardens Chapel on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 4pm, with reception to follow. At George’s request, cremation has taken place.

Ho, Jane Shok Ching (Chan) 1947-2010

It is with profound sadness that the family of Jane announces her passing on Friday October 29th, 2010. After a valiant battle with cancer, she passed comfortably at St. Peter's Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.Jane will be forever remembered by her husband of 42 years, Thomas and her two daughters, Sandra(Sean) and Lucia(Réal). She also will be deeply missed by her two grandchildren Riley and Caelyn, by her sisters Julie(Dan) Dang, Amy(Ming) Lui, May(John) Wu, and Rosa(Henry)Mark, by her nieces and nephews Tim, Dave, Frances, Union, Leo, Sonia and Victor, her in-laws Sue and Keith Ebert, and by her many friends.

Those who knew Jane will remember her as a selfless person of faith who lived life always putting her family and friends first. The family would like to especially thank the wonderful people at Juravinski Cancer Centre and St. Peter's Hospital for all the care and support over the past year and a half.
