Peacefully at New Orchard Lodge, on Monday July 12, 2004, at the age of 72. Loving wife of Al Barr. Shirley will be missed by all her friends. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd., at Roosevelt, on Monday July 19, 2004 from 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service in the chapel at 12 noon. Inurnment to follow at Pinecrest cemetery. For those who wish, a donation to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

passed away with family by his side in the Almonte Country Haven on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Fishenden) for forty two years. Dear father of Larry and pre-deceased by infant son John Arther. He will be missed by brother Tom Sample (Doreen) and sisters Edna Watson and Pearl Acres. Pre-deceased by brothers John, Bill and Clarence. The family would like to thank the staff at the Almonte Country Haven for their care of Lawrence. (nee Vansolkema) Peacefully , called to be with her Lord, in hospital with her family by her side, on Tuesday July 13, 2004 in her 77th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Sybrand Vandewint (1996), and her son Keesje (1961). Loving mother to John and Karen Vandewint, Sue and Harold Gillis, Marianne St. Germain, Paul and Heather Vandewint and Rick and Monique Vandewint. She will be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. Peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday June 27, 2007 in her 88th year. Muriel Snider (nee Curry), beloved wife of the late Earl Alexander Snider. Loving mother of Earlene (Garry Card), Georgene (Larry Boissonneault), Earl (Lucille), Paulene (Robert “Bob” McNally) and Gerald “Gerry” ( Pauline Scharf). Cherished grandmother of Steven, Amber, Karen, Jennifer, Marlene, Earlene, John, Robbie, Amy and Kelly, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Dear sister of Elva (Earl Garlough) and Lillian Cinnamon. Predeceased by her sister Lula Garlough, her brother Hubert Curry and her grandson Baby Boissonneault. Special thank you to Dr. Tamboli, the Queensway Carleton Hospital’s Dr. Smith and Dr. Morin and the nursing staff at the Granite Ridge. Suddenly on Monday, July 12, 2004 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Capt. Harry W.D. Story. Dear mother of Anne Kuhn (Arthur). Loving grandmother of Jonathan (Darlene), David (April) and Alison Vanlerberghe (Greg). Great grandmother of Liam, Ryan, Emma and Lauren. Predeceased by brother Bill Hewison and sisters Winifred Proudfoot and Dorothy Godlieb. Evelyn was married on April 11, 1931 at the Ruswarp Anglican Church, Yorkshire, England. Her husband Harry died August 10, 1988 at Penarth, Wales after which she moved to Canada in 1988 and became a Canadian citizen. A private family service will be held.

Stillborn, Wednesday June 27, 2007 For 9 months we felt you, loved you, and waited with love to bring you into this world. We spoke words of LOVE, comfort and joy through the walls that held you. We didn’t expect to mourn this day, we expected to bring you home. We weren’t ready to say “goodbye”, when “Hello” was all we thought. We will see you again in your new home someday. Beckley, Frederick S.
After a lengthy illness in hospital on Friday, June 29, 2007, at the age of 91 years. Survived by his sons Roger (Beth), of Munster, ON and Derek of Edmonton, AB., his grandchildren Kevin and Colin and his great-granddaughter Hannah Grace. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the ALC Unit at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their attentive care. Funeral arrangements private. Pearen, Fred
Date of Death: July 15, 2004
Well-known educator died on Thursday, July 15, 2004 in his 79th year. He will be dearly missed by his wife Edna (of 54 years) and his daughters Diane Pearen of Rideau Ferry, Cathy Pearen and Carol (Brad) Reynolds of Ottawa. Predeceased by his sister Donna. He was the beloved grandfather of Corinne (Darcy), Andrea and Emilie and great grandfather to Ethan. He began his teaching career at the High School of Commerce in 1950. In 1958 he went to Laurentian High School as its first Head of Business Education. In 1966, he joined the Ministry of Education as a Provincial Inspector of Schools. He was the past Chairman of the Ottawa Association of Business Teachers, and a past District Counsellor for the Ontario Business Education Association. He was an active member of City View United Church and Chaired the Church Building Committee in 1957. He was an Elder and a Trustee for many years and was also a charter member and past President of its Men’s Club. He was a past President of the City View Community Association and was also a charter and life member of the Nepean Horticultural Society where he won many prizes for his gardens. He served on the Society’s Board of Directors for many years and was awarded the Horticultural Service Award. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.) Nepean on Tuesday 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at City View United Church, 6 Epworth Drive, Nepean on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospice at May Court would be appreciated.

Bennett, Rodger
Suddenly after a short courageous battle with cancer in Carleton Place Hospital, on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the age of 67 years. Rodger Albert Bennett, loving husband of Earlene Carpenter. Beloved son of the late Orville Bennett and the late Mildred Erskine. Loving step-father of Robert (Kathleen), Joe (Linda), Jeff, Bruce (Frances), Sherry Burke (Jim) and Duncan (Debbie). Loving step-grampa of 16 and precious great-grampa of 3. Dear brother of Louise Suffron (late John), Margaret Wilson (John), Ruby Giff (Don), Sterling (Diane), Lorena Devitt (late Bob), Emily Cochrane (Woody), Gwen Spoelder (Len), Harvey (Anne Marie), Gerald (Carolynn). Predeceased by sister Miriam Carruthers, and by brothers Hope, Francis and Morley. Rodger will be missed by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and by his faithfull friend Maggie. A Memorial and Orange Lodge Service will be held at Christ Church, Burritt's Rapids on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. Inurnment to follow in the parish cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Children's Wish Foundation, Carleton Place Hospital or the Christ Church cemetery would be appreciated. On Sunday, July 18, 2004 age 76 years. Beloved wife of the late Gordon W. Lee. Loving mother of Marsha McConnery (Denis), Leslie Rubec (Clayton) and the late Brooks Lee. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer and Kyle McConnery, Lee Watts, Elizabeth and James Rubec, Natalee Cappello and Mark Lee. Sister of Wendy Legard, Pam Blackburn and Brenda Dollman. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Kanata Care Centre staff for all their compassion, kindness and caring. Sorely missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and her many friends, especially Angie, Liz and Julie. Peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital, on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the age of 43 years. Judith Anne Closs (nee O’Brien), beloved wife of Terry Closs. Loving mother to sons Devin and Jordan and to daughter Karlie. Judy also leaves behind her loving parents Tom and Joyce O’Brien. Judy will be missed by her family Sharon (Robert) Moore, Andrew (Colleen) O’Brien, Jennifer (Erik) Best, Judy (Tony) Dube, Rick (Linda Wyslouzil) Closs, Debra (Percy) Wadia, Sandra (Stephen) Riopelle, Emily (David) Herring-Cooper and several loving nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. Judy’s ability to fill a room with love, laughter and life in her presence will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew her. Stackaruk: Eleanor “Ellie” A wonderful woman has slipped peacefully away from us at her home, on Sunday July 18, 2004 at the age of 76. Predeceased by her husband Tom (1972). A special friend and loving mother to Judi, Karen, Greg and Blair. Proud ‘Nana’ of Dylan, Cole, Katie and Bronwyn. Survived by her brother John Fancy. Ellie will always be remembered by her joy of life, her fabulous sense of humour, and the infectious belly laugh which accented it. Any tears ever shed with her were always over a good joke or comical mishap. She was the ‘nucleus’ of her family, we all miss her dearly.
