Loving grandmother of Jonathan (Darlene), David (April) and Alison Vanlerberghe (Greg). Great grandmother of Liam, Ryan, Emma and Lauren. Predeceased by brother Bill Hewison and sisters Winifred Proudfoot and Dorothy Godlieb. Evelyn was married on April 11, 1931 at the Ruswarp Anglican Church, Yorkshire, England. Her husband Harry died August 10, 1988 at Penarth, Wales after which she moved to Canada in 1988 and became a Canadian citizen. A private family service will be held.

Well-known educator died on Thursday, July 15, 2004 in his 79th year. He will be dearly missed by his wife Edna (of 54 years) and his daughters Diane Pearen of Rideau Ferry, Cathy Pearen and Carol (Brad) Reynolds of Ottawa. Predeceased by his sister Donna. He was the beloved grandfather of Corinne (Darcy), Andrea and Emilie and great grandfather to Ethan. He began his teaching career at the High School of Commerce in 1950. In 1958 he went to Laurentian High School as its first Head of Business Education. In 1966, he joined the Ministry of Education as a Provincial Inspector of Schools. He was the past Chairman of the Ottawa Association of Business Teachers, and a past District Counsellor for the Ontario Business Education Association. He was an active member of City View United Church and Chaired the Church Building Committee in 1957. He was an Elder and a Trustee for many years and was also a charter member and past President of its Men’s Club. He was a past President of the City View Community Association and was also a charter and life member of the Nepean Horticultural Society where he won many prizes for his gardens. He served on the Society’s Board of Directors for many years and was awarded the Horticultural Service Award. Beloved son of the late Orville Bennett and the late Mildred Erskine. Loving step-father of Robert (Kathleen), Joe (Linda), Jeff, Bruce (Frances), Sherry Burke (Jim) and Duncan (Debbie). Loving step-grampa of 16 and precious great-grampa of 3.
