Suddenly called home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 26, 2008 in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Pranger). Loving father of Jason, Janice (Jason Gadde), Lisa (Kevin Adams), and Brian (Jessica McConnell). Proud Opa of Julia, Allison, Ethan, Matthew and Kate. Predeceased by his parents Hendrikus and Jannetje Hogeveen. Brother of Nan (the late Huibert Budding), Bert (Gerda), Cor (Jetty), Jane (John Vandesande), John (Lettie), Rita (Bert Hoolwerf), Henny (John Hoogeveen). Henk worked as an electrician for 40 years and was a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local #586. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore & Baseline) on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 1475 Merivale Rd. on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 1 pm. Followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to CHEO would be greatly appreciated.

Beaton, Roy Vaughan
(WW II Veteran – RCNVR)
Peacefully on his birthday, Wednesday, October 1, 2008, after a lengthy illness, at the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Lucas) for over 63 years. Dear father of Debbie (Ken Fitzgerald), and Malcolm (Carole), Proud and supportive grandfather of Mike and Blake Fitzgerald and Will Beaton. Roy will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Born October 1, 1924 in Moosejaw Saskatchewan, he was raised in Detroit and Ottawa. He joined the Navy at age 17, and served honorably as a public servant for 42 years. A private family service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff of R1N at the Perley Rideau for their compassionate and loving care. For those wishing, donations in memory of Roy may be made to the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, 1750 Russell Rd, Ottawa, ON, K1G 5Z6.

RANKIN, Eleanor “Ellie” (nee Adams)
passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008, with her family by her side, at the age of 63. Beloved wife of Donald Rankin. Loving mother of Gary Bond (Debbie) and Steve Bond (Sue). Proud grandmother of Shane, Tristan, Nicholas and Taylor. Dear sister of Shirley Jones (Ed), Audrey, Edward Adams (Lauren) and Louise Stanton (Pat). Loving wife of the late Dr. Finlay McKerracher. Born in 1924 in Carmunnock, Scotland. Helen was a medical social worker by profession, and a passionate gardner. Cremation. Suddenly, as a result of a severe stroke on Thursday, December 9th 2010 at the age of 83, Joan Elizabeth Stewart died at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa, surrounded by her much loved husband Francis Alvin Stewart, daughter Frances Elizabeth, sons James Hamilton (Suzanne), Ian Robert, and Paul Russell (Darlene). Loving grandmother of Sarah, Stewart, Matthew, Andrew, Amelia, Hilary, Cameron, Blair, Elizabeth, Graeme, Quinn and the late Thomas. She will be sadly missed by her brother Dr. John Richard Hamilton C.M. (Patricia) and sister-in-law Dorothy Mabel Stewart and lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and members of the business community. She was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, the daughter of the late Dr. John Russell Hamilton and his wife Muriel Sarah Kidd. passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital after a stroke on December 16, 2010. Born August 5, 1924 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, daughter of the late Charles and Emma Ahrens. Predeceased by an infant son (1955) and son Walter Dane (2001). Left to mourn this warm and caring special lady, are her beloved husband of 60 years, John, her kids, Nancy and Stephen and his wife Debbie, her adopted family, Phil and Monica Whittingstall and family, Ev Botham, Michael King (Paula and Benjamin) and Susan Bull (Michael), dear family in Ontario, Quebec, Western Canada, California, and Australia, longtime friends, and new friends and staff at the Ravines. It is with sadness that we announce that Elizabeth (Betty) passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the Ottawa Civic Hospital at age 83. Loving mother to - Carlan (Brigite), Jeffrey (Elizabeth), Robert, Philip and Brian (Kristi). Cherished by her 10 grandsons - Andrew, David, Noah, Michael (Roxanne), Adam, Michael, Matthew, Benjamin, Jamie (Tracey), Christopher and her 5 great grandchildren - Emily,Tyler,Victoria,Alex and Cole.Beloved sister-in-law to Geraldine Van Steenbergen (John) and Bill Stants (Evlyn). Fondly remembered by Samya, Sacha and her many nephews and nieces. Betty is predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Amey, her parents Harold and Carrie (Orange) Arnold, sisters Mildred, Muriel, and Dorothy and Squadron Leader John (Dutch) Stants. Born in Ottawa, Betty was a graduate of the High School of Commerce and the Ottawa Civic Hospital’s School of Nursing. She had a long career in nursing as a Nursing Sister in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp., at the Royal Victoria Hospital (Montreal) and the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Her family would like to thank all those who showed Betty kindness during the later part of her life. In particular, we would like to thank her caregiver Jessebel, the medical and healthcare staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, and all her community care workers.
