MARTIN, Marion H. (nee Clark) 1915-2008 R.N., Grace Hospital Class of 1934 Peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 with her daughter Margaret by her side. Beloved wife of the late Ernest. Loving mother of Margaret Murray. Devoted Gran of Ryan. Sister-in-law of Carol Clark and Marjorie Clark. Dear friend of Joyce Dodds. Marion will be missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by her brothers Arthur, Kenneth, Carl, Howard, Harry and Gilbert, and her sister Ida. A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Manotick on Friday, May 16 at 2 p.m. Cremation. At home in Dunrobin on Sunday, April 6, 2008 after a brave battle courageously fought at the age of 85. Dearly loved mother of Joe Firlott and Geraldine Hossenbux, mother-in-law to Farook and nanny to Sarah, Steve, Karim, Hana, Tony and Imran. Dear sister-in-law to Deen Johnson and aunt to Faye, Kenny and Jerry. Predeceased by her husband Tye. Duff, James Joshua
DUFF, James Joshua, C.A. (Founding Partner of McCay, Duff and Company Jim Duff passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the age of 93. He was the beloved husband and life-long love of the late Elsie Duff. Loving father of Larry (Helen), Joan (Ric) Potter and Margaret (Peter) Higginson. Grandfather to nine grandsons and five great-grandchildren. Brother of Margaret (Coulter), Mac (Alice) and the late Geordie (June). Originally from Saskatchewan, Jim and his university friend, Johnny McCay came to Ottawa during WW II, and subsequently founded the accountancy firm McCay, Duff and Company in 1946, which is still active in Ottawa. Jim was a founding member of the Granite Curling Club, and enjoyed it for many years. His passion was golf, which he played as a member of the Ottawa Hunt Club until he was 90. Although he was always very low-key and humble about it, Jim was a volunteer ‘extraordinaire’ – Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, United Church of Canada, the Ottawa Rotary Club, and many others. He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow by the Ottawa Rotary Club, recognizing in particular, his years of ongoing assistance in the establishing and running of the Ottawa Rotary Home for Children. In 2003 he received the Golden Jubilee Medal in recognition of significant achievement and service to his fellow citizens of Canada. We hope that his life will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at the Dialysis Units at both the Civic and Riverside Hospital sites and Extendicare Starwood Nursing Home for the professional and compassionate care provided to Jim. A Memorial Service will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Thursday, April 10 at 3 p.m. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Rotary Home Foundation, 30 Rochester St., Ottawa, K1R 7V3, or any charity of your choice.

Martinak, Gail Elizabeth “Ethel” nee Morley
Taken from us very suddenly on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Loving wife of Mike, and mother of Heather (Chad), Geoff and Cody, her associate, and the late Pooky. Cherished daughter of Ruth and the late George Morley. Dear sister and best friend of Marcia “Marge” Jones (Jonathan). Lovingly missed by her in-laws Pete and Evelyn Martinak. She will always be in the hearts of her Aunt Joan Love, her many cousins, and Mike’s brothers, Brian (Debbie), David, and sister Liz (Rob) and their families. She was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, lived and resided in her new home in Carp, Ontario. She played a big part in everyone’s life with her ever-evolving sense of humour, sense of caring and lust for life. Gail always knew what to say and what to do with graciousness, love and respect. passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the age of 78. Son of the late Hugo Brunke and the late Susanna Wittstock. Survived by his wife and best friend of over 52 years, Anna (McLelland). Cherished father of Arlene (Mike McNamara), Arnold (Debbie Sabourin), Milton (Louise Lacroix), Kathy (Jim Puchniak), Larry (Lyne Joly) and Frank (Manon Fillion). Dear grandfather of: Sam, Alex, Dylan, Marissa, Kelly, Rebecca, Rus, Viktoria, Patrick, and his step-grandchildren: Sebastien, Eric and Haileigh. He will be sadly missed by his sister Beverly (Nelson Teske). Survived by many bothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Earla Strebe and brother-in-law Ted Strebe. Survived by his wife Eunice (Kranz), children; Debbie (Roger), Kevin (Claire), Bill (Sheila), Terry (Jacqui), Brian (Cairine), Kim (Kevin), Judy (Bill) and Bonnie (Tom) and sisters Lola and Dorothy (both of Cornwall). Dyrkton, Jacqueline (nee McDougle)
Our beloved Nana suddenly on April 2, 2008 at the age of 65. Beautiful in spirit, she was wife to Olav Dyrkton, mother to Josephine Dyrkton ( Majid Kalsi), step-mother to Susan, Stephanie, Ingo and Joerge and devoted grandmother to Azad, Zara, Sabina and Nathan. Born in Northumberland County September 25, 1942, she grew up on an English farm and later to moved to Bergen, Norway. The past 30 years she spent travelling from one end of Canada to the other, enjoying the sea and countryside, her love of gardens, herbs, music and most recently her grandchildren. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road), on Friday, April 11 from 3-5 p.m. The funeral will take place at First United Church at 347 Richmond Road Saturday April 12 at 2:00 pm followed by private interment.
