Small, Captain Darell Lovell, CD
March 26, 1915 - August 12, 2008
Surrounded by his family, Darell passed away peacefully at home. Born to Ford and Norma Small, Darell grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Darell, Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad served 27 years in the Royal Canadian Engineers (1935 – 1962) and 17 years with the City of Ottawa (1963 – 1980). In retirement he was an active member of the Heraldry Society of Canada, the Monarchist League of Canada and the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen. Darell will be missed by his family; his loving wife Fern, his four children, Darell (Lynne), Carol (James), Holly (John), and Leslie (Jeffrey), five grandchildren, Allison, Virginia, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Nicholas and one great grandchild Fiona. We are very grateful to Dr’s Aldridge and Coulombe, nurses Vicki, Cathy, and Michelle, and Meaza his personal care worker for their wonderful care for Dad. Peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2003 in her 83rd year. Loving mother of Kathleen Stokely and Wayne (Christine). Cherished grandmother of Kelsie and Shauna Stokely and Kyle and Kayla Woelflé. Dear friend of Ted and Ann Woelflé. Melba lived a full and happy life that has touched so many people. Early in life it was destined that she would see, visit and do many things. She has travelled extensively, nearing the end of WWII as a WREN and then throughout the remainder of her long and happy life, whether it was for work or for pleasure. She took great joy in seeing new things and places, and meeting new people wherever her journeys took her. Her happy and positive outlook touched many people. She will be greatly missed. A dedicated family man highly respected in his business community. He passed away at the age of 54 years after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. Born and raised in Stoney Creek to Jean Murray and the late Don Murray (who passed away in April ’08). Peacefully, in hospital, surrounded by his family, on August 28, 2008, after a valiant battle. Beloved husband of Lois (Kuntz), much loved father of David, Michael (Kerri Ferguson) and Elizabeth; dear Poppa of Zackary. Brother of John, Mary Ann (Carlos Brito), and Helen Saykali. Brother-in-law of Carol Anne Jamieson and the late Toni Williams. Remembered fondly by nieces and nephews, Jessica and Ben Williams, Paul (Ellie Vyver) and Katherine Henning, Adriana and Jordan Brito. Great Uncle to Jordan Larkin and Andrew Henning. Dearly missed by Margaret Rywak, an honourary member of the family. Gordon was born in Ottawa on April 16, 1935, son of Sadie Saikaley and Phillip Charles. He was a graduate of Glebe Collegiate and Carleton University and worked for the Dept. of Consumer and Corporate Affairs until his retirement in 1989. He and Lois married in 1966 and made their home in Nepean. Gordon served on the Nepean Library Board and was elected to two terms as a Trustee of the Carleton Board of Education. He also served on the Board of Ottawa Valley Autistic Homes. He was awarded a Nepean Millennium Medal for outstanding community service in 2000. Golf was his passion. He was a member of Irish Hills Golf Club and spent many hours on the links over the years. Sunday, August 31, 2008, I lost my love and soul mate. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short illness. Gerry leaves behind his “Love” Carolyn Colpitts-Leger; son, John (Anji Bhattacharyya); daughter, Christine (Paul Weston) and adoring grandchildren Adam, Nathan, Sage and baby Grace. Gerry was predeceased by his mother Marie; father Gerard; sister Julie LeBlanc; brother Val; father-in-law John Lans Colpitts and brother-in-law Jack Colpitts. Also greatly missed by sisters Aline Siritsky (Michel), Annette Fairweather; brother Ron (Karen); sisters Angela Wilson (Doug), Louise Boulter (Robert); brother-in-law Ferdie LeBlanc; sisters-in-law Ruth Leger, Sherran Bowbrick (David), Bonnie Stevens (Blair) and mother-in-law Madge Colpitts. Gerry’s career in the public service (1976 – 2006) was with the Solicitor General of Canada where he held senior management positions, retiring as Director of Technology and Information Systems.
