1928-2009
A life lived with humour, integrity, honesty, simplicity and vigor. A victim of Alzheimer’s disease and all the pain and confusion it brings with it, all the while Martin preserved and maintained his dignity as a person. He has been and will continue to be missed by his wife, companion, lover and caregiver, Linda (Leitch) Jeffery and his most precious and loving daughter Aidan. He will also be missed by his sister Mary Jo, his devoted sister-in-law Rita Coles and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Royden and Mary Lenore and his sister Eleanor. Martin was an outstanding religious educator who influenced the lives of many across Canada. Sincere thanks to the staff at the McCluskey Centre for their dedication, to the Grey Sisters for their support and generosity, to all the nurses at the Pembroke Regional Hospital for their professionalism and continuity of care, and also to Dr. Joan Tyler for her humanness in dealing with Martin and his family. Martin will be fondly remembered for his generosity and humanity towards others. Born in London, England July 3, 1925, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2009 at Extendicare Starwood Ottawa, at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her sons Michael (Anne), John (Mary) and Peter. She was predeceased by her husband John and her daughters Aileen and Barbara. She was a proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place in Ottawa. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen cemetery , Blenheim at a later date. Survived in Birmingham, England by nephews Tony (Jackie), Ronnie (late Jackie) and friends Joan and Ron Gill. Jamieson, Dwight "Steve" Donald
January 15, 1962 - September 16, 2009 Dwight Donald Jamieson passed away peacefully in hospital in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in his 48th year. Dwight, also known as Steve to many friends who came to know him later in life, was born to the late Thelma Clifford (nee Routliffe) Jamieson and the late Robert 'Bert' Duncan Jamieson, and grew up with his siblings working on the family dairy farm near Aylmer, Quebec. Dwight was a hard worker, a loyal friend and a gentle soul. He marveled at the richness and beauty of life in the moment and was committed to always learning and thinking about new ideas and things. Through his love of nature, passion for photography, painting, design and travel, as well as his skill in the realm of Information Technology, he has left a lasting impact and many memories. His mischievous smile and his wry sense of humour stayed with him to his final moments, and will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Following Dwight's wishes, there will be no funeral or viewing but friends and family are invited to a reception on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 beginning at 1:30 pm. A service to celebrate Dwight’s life will begin at 3:30 pm for those who wish to attend. Both will be held at The Courtyard Restaurant, 21 George Street, in the ByWard Market, Ottawa. A private Interment ceremony will be planned in the coming months at Bellevue cemetery , Aylmer, Quebec. At Dwight's request, a tree will be planted next Spring in his name as part of the City of Ottawa's Commemorative Tree Program. We are sad to announce his sudden passing at his home on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the age of 61 years. Predeceased by his parents, Wilson Lawrence and Lyla Soucie and brother, Donald Lawrence. He is survived by his brother, Robert Lawrence; sister in-law Isobel Lawrence; nephew Jason Lawrence (Andrea) and their daughter, Acelynn; niece Kristy Lawrence (Cory) and their son Marko. Though we mourn his passing, it is with deep love, admiration and respect that we remember the gentle soul that touched our hearts and lives. Doug leaves a legacy of hope and gratitude to all who knew him. He was never without a smile, a kind word and the willingness to listen and help others. He was a true friend to those who knew him, an example to those who looked up to him and a beacon of light to those who sought his assistance. He will be truly missed.
