Mahaffy, Ruth Mary (Babe) (nee Shore)
Peacefully in Ottawa with her family by her side on Saturday, August 29, 2009, age 78. Predeceased by husband Cash, sister Joan Stone, and son Kevin. Deeply missed by sister Marilyn Wilson, sons Jeff (Dawn), Belleville, Brion, Carrying Place, Owen (Diana), Ottawa, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and compassionate staff of the Cardiac Surgery ICU at the Ottawa Heart Institute. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 1p.m. to 2p.m. A celebration of her life will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. Donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Peacefully in hospital, Perth, Ontario on Sunday, August 30, 2009 with his wife at his bedside. Beloved husband of Monique. Cherished father of Stephanie (Alain) Gauthier of Perth. Loving grandfather of Christophe, Nicolas, Philippe, Matthieu and Catherine. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass to be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 28 Hawthorne Avenue, Carleton Place on Saturday, September 5, at 11 a.m. The Popiel family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass.

Peacefully, on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the age of 69. Edgar Willie Dodd, beloved companion of Marguerite Willis. Loving father of Donna Buch, Rick Dodd, Michelle Foster and Tracey Dodd. Dear brother of Eva (Bob) Miller and John (Myra) Dodd. Survived by 6 grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother Eddie Kerr (Irene). McClelland, Walter Allan "Wally"
Born May 10, 1950, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 31, 2009. Beloved father of Jeremiah and Christine McClelland (Jason Ladouceur). Proud grandfather of Justin, Hayden and Paxtyn. Dear brother of Beverley (the late James Karalekas), Marilyn (Richard McGregor), Johny (Margaret Dewar), Lynn (Bill Giff), Sharon (Raymond Lepage) and Patrick (Diane Kerr). He will be truly missed by his sister Marilyn and brother-in-law Dick McGregor who were his constant caregivers. Murphy, David Thomas
It is with sadness that the Murphy family announces the passing of a much loved brother and uncle, David, in Gatineau (Buckingham sector) on August 30, 2009 at the age of 83 years. David was the son of the late Patrick James Murphy and Catherine McDonnell of Mayo, Quebec. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Gladys (the late David French) and Verna (Frank McConnell), and his brothers John (Hazel Gay) and Bert (Marguerite Hudson). He was also the much loved Uncle Dave to many nieces and nephews, and was godfather to Kathryn Carriere, Donna Murphy and Peggy French. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Michael, and five sisters, Mildred (the late Joseph Kearnan), Edith (the late Conrad Mongeon), Phyllis (the late James Collins), Rose (the late Lowell Carriere) and Joan. Family and friends may pay their respects at CADIEUX TUBMAN FUNERAL HOME, 322 avenue de Buckingham, Gatineau on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, September 4, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Malachy’s Church in Mayo followed by internment in the parish cemetery. Many thanks to the staff of the CH-CHSLD of Buckingham for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the CH-CHSLD or to the St. Malachy’s Church building fund would be appreciated.

Evans-Honeywell, Phyllis Claire (nee Coughler)
Peacefully, at home on Monday, August 31st, 2009 in her 71st year. Beloved wife of James Honeywell. Loving mother of Christopher Evans (Kim) and Kimberly Lovatt (Ansrew). Cherished grandmother of Catherine and Victoria Lovatt, the absolute lights of her life. Survived by her siblings Doug Coughler, Gerry Coughler, Alice Reid, and Vivian Van Breugel. Predeceased by her first husband Melvin. Phyllis had a soft-touch with both children and animals. She loved spending her summers at the cottage with family and friends and her winters with her bridge clubs. She enjoyed spending time with her grand-children, her pets and also travelling & pottering at garage sales with her husband. She had a voracious appetite for reading all year round. At Phyllis's request, a private service will be held. For those wising, a donation to the Toronto Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Harrison, Lyla (nee Beggs)
1923 – 2009 The heart and soul of the Harrison family passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Bayfield Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband Bert, sister Rowena Ferris and parents Earl and Ilo Beggs of Heckston, Ontario. Dear mother of Carolle (Colin Wright), Brian (Pam), Brenda (Peter Wright), Trevor (Marjorie), Ted (Joyce) and Cindy (Ron Cureston). Loving grandmother of Jody Pratt, Colleen Charland, Gini Okroy, Joshua Wright, Joel and Scott Harrison, Brad and Amber Wright, Adam, Danny and Sherri Harrison, Alanna, Ben, Grant and Mikaela Harrison, Ryan and Katie Cureston. She is also survived by 9 great grand children, her brother Glenn Beggs (Marg) and best friends Bessie and Harold Gray. Special and heart felt thanks to the nurses Sharon, Maureen and Jane and to all the staff of Bayfield Nursing Home for the excellent care and love shown to mother. Died in bed listening to Beethoven’s Ode to Joy on 28 Aug 09, aged 92. Passed through Spanish Flu, Great Depression, and WWII with grace. Pianist, teacher, linguist, devoted matriarch, and friend to many. Memorial service at Unitarian Church, 30 Cleary Av. in Westboro, Ottawa, 11 Sep 09 at 15:00. Rivest, Claude
passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, September 4, 2009 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Carol (née Corby). Proud and loving father of Robert Rivest (Jeraldyn), of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Leanne Rivest (Jacques Gagnon). Cherished grandfather of Sebastian and Tristan, and extended family members Alexandre (Jen), Antoine (Corri) and Benjamin. Claude will also be missed by his sisters Muriel Labonté and Colette Chartrand (Jean), both of Montreal. Loving grandfather of Christopher Morley (Alvina), Robin Morley (Krista), Tracy Chamberlin (Dan) and Dr. Tyler Chamberlin. Step-grandfather of Julianne Cameron and Christopher Smith (Heather). Great-grandfather of Kayla, Lindsay, Brandan, Natasha, Jaden and Jackson. Dear brother of Laurence and John (Cara). Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Laurent and Florence Beaubien; brothers Edward, Andre, Emile and sisters Reina and Theresa. Loving father of Glenn (Lesley), Mary Jo (Don) Horner, Keith Jr. (Heather), Rita (Fred) Davidson, Eric (Liz). Dear grandfather of five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Edgar and Leonard. Private interment.

Morin, The Honourable Mr. Gerald
Peacefully, at the family cottage on Aylen Lake, on Friday, September 4, 2009 in his 72nd year. Beloved and loving husband of Carol (née Chalmers) for 48 years. Adored father of Jennifer Morin (John Dodsworth), Stephanie Plazek (Greg), Michael Morin, Carolyn Morin (Mark Goodwin) and Christopher Morin (Laurie Ham). Much loved Grampa of Sarah, Katie and Patrick Dodsworth; Matthew, Ben, Timmy and Graeme Plazek; Amanda and Luke Morin; James, Annie and Christopher Morin-Goodwin; Tommy, Ally, Emma and Sean Morin. He is also survived by his sisters Janet McNamara (the late Harold) and Helen Miller (the late Bill). He is predeceased by his parents Romeo and Stella Morin and sister Edith Morin. Gerald graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School in 1963 first in his class receiving the Gold Medal, was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1965 and appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 1979. He was a partner in the Ottawa firm of Soloway, Wright from 1965 to 1991 and was a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was appointed a Judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in 1991 and retired in May 2008. In February 2006 he was honoured as the recipient of the Carleton County Law Association Medal. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Tuesday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 153 Woodroffe Avenue (at Byron Ave.) on Wednesday at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.

Conway, Michael Stephen
On Saturday, September 5, 2009, Michael Stephen Conway, aged 63. Beloved husband and best friend of Myra Beauchamp Conway. Dear son of the late Leo James Conway and the late Ivy Burkitt. Left to mourn are his sisters Patricia Conway-Willis (late Earl), Barbara Smith (Russell) and Catherine Stewart (late George), and his brothers Peter (Linda) and Christopher (Elise). Remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews and their children, and by his many friends in Canada and all parts of the world. Michael was a proud Canadian who served the country he loved as a public servant and diplomat in Ottawa, St. John’s Newfoundland, and in Sweden, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana and Malaysia. In his last few years Michael lived with early onset dementia. He was able to live his life at home with dignity and much laughter with the loving help of his caregivers, in particular Shirley Lamoureux, Linda Prudhomme, Sharon Lang and Yvonne Valentine, their nursing care manager at Retire-At-Home. Friends may call at St. James Anglican Church, 1138 Bridge Street, Manotick, on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Bonk, Norma M. (Nee Cathcart)
passed away suddenly at the Ottawa Hospital, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in her 79th year. Survived by Steve, her beloved husband of 55 years, her children Ruth (Cam Gregg), Rick (Susan), and David (Bernie), her grandchildren Chris and Elizabeth, her sister Ruth (Harvey Gillespie), and her brother Bob Cathcart (Gayle Alberelli). Norma had a life long dedication to the Ottawa Civic Hospital, where she was born in 1931. She was a proud Ottawa Civic Hospital nursing graduate (1953); long time OCH Auxiliary volunteer (& only months away from her 40 year pin), President of OCH Auxiliary (84) and of the Hospital Auxiliary Association of Ontario, Region 9. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Engineers Wives Association and many of it's interest groups, the Ottawa Womens Canadian Club (past Director), Guy Gibson chapter of the IODE. Memorial visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore Dr and Baseline Rd), on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 2-6 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. In recognition of Norma's devotion to her hospital volunteer work, memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Civic Auxiliary, 1053 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, ON, K1Y 4E9.

Loving grandmother to 5 grandchildren and 6 great - grandchildren. At her request, she has been donated to science.
