Survived by sisters, Jean and Kay (Richard Stuewe) and brothers Edgar (Mary MacNeill) and Louis (Diane MacNeill). Predeceased by siblings Joseph, Wilfrid, Trudy and Eileen. Peacefully, with family by his side on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the age of 78. Beloved husband and bestfriend of Dorothy Parker (nee Buccino). Predeceased by his loving wife and mother of their 4 children Barbara (nee Hanley). Together they raised a family that travelled across Canada and learned the value of laughter and time spent together. Cherished friend, mentor and father of Maureen (David Greenly), Bill (Kim Forrest), Linda (Lou Filippi) and Paul ( Sandra Corneau). Amazing “Grampa” to of Rory, Sydney, Natalie, Daniel, Alyssa, Ian and Alec. George will be fondly remembered by all who knew him especially his many nieces and nephews. George’s family was his pride and joy and he will be sorely missed at our family gatherings. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Hanif Charania, his trusted family physician, for his many years of help. passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Ottawa, ON aged 90 years. Daughter of the late George and Frances (Peters) Bailey of Digby, NS. She is survived by her loving husband for 68 years, William (Bill) (R/Adm. RCN Ret.); sons Peter of Georgetown, ON and Andrew (Maria) of Ottawa and daughter Susan Boulerice (Robert) of Aurora, ON. She leaves much loved grandchildren Kim (James Cameron) and David (Trish) of Ottawa, Kieran (Vanessa) McManus of Toronto and Jeffrey (Jen McManus) of London, ON and Kyle and Ryan of Ottawa, ON; 5 great grandchildren Asha Cameron, Emily, Elise, Lauren and Will McManus, as well as her sister-in-law Dorothy (Jack) O’Connor of Toronto, ON, ex-daughter-in-law Debbie (Rick) Nystedt of Sault Ste. Marie, ON and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both her twin brother Max and older brother Glen Bailey. Born 1919 in Anchorage, Alaska and, after her family returned to Nova Scotia in 1929, raised in Digby NS. Educated at Digby Academy, where one of her earliest fellow students was Bill Christie, whom she later married at King’s College Chapel Halifax in 1942. She worked for several years in offices of National Sea Foods in Digby and Halifax. After becoming a Naval wife, she lived in Halifax, NS and in the 50’s in Bath, England, and then for four years in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Returning to Canada, some years were then spent in Halifax and Ottawa, following which she returned in the 60’s to live in Chislehurst, England, while her husband was involved with building submarines for Canada at Chatham Naval Dockyard. She was one of the keel-laying team for both HMCS Onondaga and HMCS Okanogan. Returning to Canada in 1966, she again lived in Halifax for several years before finally settling in Ottawa for good. She and Bill were active sailors all their lives and were long-time members of Britannia Yacht Club. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. With her family by her side at Peter D. Clark Centre at the age of 90. Proud mother of Cathy and John, mother-in-law to Mary (Barr), and loving Nana to Kaitlyn and Jessica. Loving and caring wife to the late Dusty (Frank) DeGrasse. Born in Fort Francis, Ontario to Parker Guy Butler and Jenny Myers. Loving step daughter and friend to Rudy Butler. Grace grew up on Sherbrooke Street in Ottawa with her eight siblings – Alice, Art, Bill, Pat, Esther, Beatrice, Jimmy and Eleanor (Nonnie). Grace graduated from business college in the 1930s and worked in Naval Commuications during the war. Grace inspired all around her by her doing for others through her loving support of her family and friends, and her volunteer work including Sunday school teacher, Brown Owl, Cub leader, baseball mom, Crisis line and hospital volunteer, charity canvasser, teaching elementary children to paint, bridge club convener etc. Grace treasured times with her family and friends including her many nieces, nephews and other members of her extended family. Above all, Grace’s personal strength and pride in her family will be remembered most. The family wishes to extend a very warm thank you to the staff at Lynwood Park Retirement Residence, Peter D. Clark Long Term Care Centre, and Debbie Abfalter for the loving, compassionate care provided to Grace for the last few years. Rocky’s illustrious career in aviation was surpassed only by his loving dedication as a husband and father. His bright creative spirit, brilliant mind, and unquenchable sense of fun drew people of all ages to him, and his joyful sense of humour will live on in the memories of all who knew him. Rocky was an Air Force veteran of World War II, a helper to all in need, a lover of dogs, music, and children, and, above all, a true gentleman. A private family service will be held.
