Born Cochrane, Ontario March 9, 1925, died Ottawa, Ontario May 23, 2007. Loving husband of Edith (nee Evans). He will be sadly missed by his cherished friend, Edith Seveny (Zvaniga), the mother of his children. Dearly loved father of Tammy (Frank Simpson), Kim (Denise), Dennis (Sue Boutilier) and Gary (Louise). Cherished grandfather of Neil, Jonathan, Natasha, Amanda and Dana. Great-grandfather of Amy, Alyssa and Emma. Survived by his brother John of Oshawa. As a chartered life underwriter, Neil helped countless people prepare for all stages in life. Past Chair of Life Underwriters, Ottawa, he helped mentor new agents entering the business and set high standards for them to aspire to. Neil was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bells Corners Branch 593. Neil enjoyed long walks and rarely went anywhere without meeting friends who would recognize him. Neil’s zest for life, family and friends will be cherished by all who knew him. Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Tuesday September 30, 2003 at the age of 83 years. Muriel Philpott (nee Munharvey), beloved wife of Herbert, loving mother of Ross of Toronto and Kathryn (Ron Schlegelnilch) of Edmonton, cherished grandmother of Michael and Timothy Schlegelnilch. Dear sister of Lyla Grant (the late Claire), George Munharvey (Kay), Edna Swettenham (Ed), Doris McIntyre (Bob), the late Lois Mulligan (the late Allan), the late John Munharvey (Jean) and the late Gilbert Munharvey (Ann). Peacefully at Pontiac Community Hospital, Shawville on Thursday, May 24, 2007 in her 103rd year, Evelyn went to be with her Lord and Saviour and to join her beloved twin sister, Dorothy Burns (2002). She leaves to mourn nieces, Pauline (Rev. Les Grant), Shawville, Joyce (Bill Lowry) of Almonte, Ruth (Dr. Robert More) of Waddington, NY and her nephew Frank Burns, of Perth. She will also be greatly missed by great nieces and nephews and especially her friend Mildred Bachoffner. Special thanks to her care givers, Susan, Winnie, Sharon, Bernadette, Roberta and the hospital staff. Peacefully in Ottawa on Tuesday May 22, 2007 in her 93rd year to join her beloved husband Wally (1907 - 1980). Survived by her brother James W. Westcott, her four children, Philip, Barbara, Alan and Margaret, five grandchildren, John Douglas (J.D.), Suzanne, Andrew, Dorothy and Heather as well as five great grandchildren who have all know a cheerful, loving presence in their lives which will be sorely missed.
