April 19, 1927 – December 25, 2006 The family of Jim Millar wishes to announce his passing on Christmas morning, after a valiant five month struggle with cancer. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 19, 1927, Jim immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s, however, as a proud (and stubborn) Scot, he never for a moment, lost sight of his roots. Pre-deceased by his second wife Audrey (MacLeod) of Ottawa, parents and sisters in Scotland, Jim will be lovingly remembered by sister Alexa Duncan (John) of the Isle of Arran, Scotland, daughters Tammie Millar-Wallace (Jeff) of Ottawa, Jamie Millar-Dixon of Vancouver, son Ian (Christine) of Stoney Creek, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a beloved Papa to Kelsie and Taylor, and Opa to Ryan and Danielle, he will be sorely missed. The family is most grateful for the care and support received from Dr. Susan Gick, Home Palliative Care, Dr. Scott Laurie at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, Dr. Benoit, at the Neurology Unit of the Ottawa Civic Hospital, and John, who could always locate a soccer match for them to enjoy! We also wish to personally thank Dad’s many close friends, acquaintances, the 151 bus stop club, House of Scotland customers and colleagues for their love, support and friendship. Peacefully, at home, on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in his 91st year. Loving husband of the late Letitia (née Young). Treasured father of Karen, Cheryl and Paula. Cherished grandfather of Jane and Heidi; Charles; Myles, Dustin, Brandon and Reid, and great-grandfather to Joshua; Iain, Charlotte and Kate. Predeceased by one sister and three brothers. He will also be greatly missed by his dear friend Joan, as well as by many extended family and friends. Neville was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golfing and keeping active with his regimented daily walking, playing bridge and was a gifted writer. Boyle, Phyllis Edna Sarah
Born July 25, 1926 in Cobalt, Ontario; passed away April 12, 2010, in her own apartment, fiercely independent to the end. As a young woman, Phyllis attended business college and studied comptometry, graduated at the top of her class, and worked for E. B. Eddy for 35 years. She was also an enthusiastic rock-hound, wedding photographer, coin collector, CB radio operator, traveller and dog walker. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Henry Boyle and Mary Taylor, her husband Bill Zanikowski, her brother Edgar Boyle, and her nephew Brian Boyle. She will be sadly missed by Barbara, and her nieces Bev and Kathy, and her nephews David, Garvin and Norman, and their families. She will also be missed by her good friends Hugh and Ruth, Donna, Marg, Gladys, Maggie, cousin Ethel, and many, many others, as well as a myriad of canine friends. passed away at the age of 86 in Buckingham Hospital surrounded by family. She is survived by her sister Mabel Lefebvre and sister in law Lucille Allen. She will be sadly missed by her four special nieces Heather Moore, Susan Allen Villeneuve, Linda Allen and Jane Lefebvre. Frances Schissler passed away peacefully on April 20, 2010, at the Carleton Place Manor. Predeceased by her brothers Philip (Alice), James (Jane Bishop) and her sister Laura. Beloved sister-in-law of Jane Bishop and beloved aunt of Mary Simpson (Jim), Maureen, Elise (Larry), Tom (Elizabeth), Kate (Bill) and Peter (Jacqueline). Frances will be sorely missed by Elsie, Gladys, Tony and Kristine and her other friends in the Toronto area, several great and great-great nephews, nieces, and “Scooter.” Following her retirement from the Curtis Publishing Company, Frances was active with many interests such as her volunteer work in Toronto with the Canadian Cancer Society. Besides spending many hours in her garden, she provided family members with a regular supply of knitted clothing and enjoyed travelling the world with friends. Her terrific sense of humour was enjoyed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation will take place on Friday April 30, 2010, between 12:00 and 2:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home in Carleton Place at 61 Lake Ave. W. There will be an interment in Victoria Harbour, Ontario, later in May. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at the Carleton Place Manor as well as Rachel Rice and Brenda Paquette for their special care in Frances’ final days.

Victor (Vic) passed away peacefully at the Perley & Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, on Sunday, April 25, 2010. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret and all his siblings; brother William and sisters Alice (Stinton), Anne (Bucci) and Elsie (Durocher).Sadly mourned by his children John (Barbara), Judy (Dan Mysak) and Tim (Vivian). Grampy will be missed by his loving grandchildren Simon, Grace, Christopher and Madeline. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Victor served with Bomber Command in WWII and spent many years in the post war R.C.A.F, including postings to 2 (F) Wing Grostenquin and 1 (F) Wing Marville France. He also worked in the federal public service at Transport Canada and Public Works Canada as the departmental security officer. Victor was an avid fisherman (Innisville) and lover of the great outdoors and was a long time member and past president of the National Defence HQ Fish & Game Club. He also enjoyed curling, playing cards and cribbage. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the wonderful Rideau South nurses, staff and volunteers of the Perley & Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. Their exceptional care and compassion and ever-present cheerfulness made Dad’s final months comfortable and happy. Special thanks to Trudy, to whom Dad ascribed “the voice of an angel” whose singing and attention, brought much joy to an old man at the end of his days.
