Suddenly on Saturday June 16, 2001 at University Hospital, London, Ontario in his 44th year. John, beloved father of Lauren and Stacey Hurst of London. Loved son of Ruth Hurst of Oshawa and the late John McMurren Hurst. Loved grandson of Margaret Martin. Dear brother of Terry Hurst and his wife Margaret of South Carolina. Friends may call at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Wednesday June 20th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday June 21st at 11 a.m. Interment MOUNT LAWN cemetery , Whitby. Memorial Donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

KEMP, Charles William “Chuck” -

Member of the Oshawa Flying Club,
Involved Super Modified Stock Car Racing, former Service Advisor for Cliff Mills and Ontario Motor Sales)
After a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia and surrounded by his family, Chuck entered into rest at his daughter’s home on Saturday, June 16, 2001 in his 73rd year. Chuck, beloved husband of Eleanor. Loving father of Kathleen and her husband Mark Greenley. Dear grandfather of Ashley and her husband Richard Lutchford, Raymond Moore, Connor Greenley and great-grandfather of Kinsley Lutchford, and Cohen Lutchford. Fondly remembered by his very special mother-in-law Mary Smith, his brothers Danny and his wife Louise Kemp, John and his wife Josie Kemp, his sister Ruth and her husband Al Mclntrye, and by his nieces, nephews, and friends. Chuck will be remembered for his enjoyment of being a private pilot and in later years for his hobby of building computers and flying model airplanes. The family will receive friends at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Service in the Chapel on Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at 1 p.m. lnterment, GROVESIDE, Brooklin. In memoriam, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation or to the Leukemia Foundation. The family wish to express their gratitude to the Nursing Staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, Durham Access to Care, Lakeridge Health Oshawa Palliative Care Unit, a special thank you to Betty-Jean Tait from V.O.N., Wanda Goulding from Durham Access to Care, and to Dr. Chaudhari for their caring and support.

Suddenly at the Ajax & Pickering Health Centre on Saturday, June 16, 2001 in his 55th year. Beloved husband and friend of Donna. Loving father of Jenny ("Pooh") and her husband Mark, and Chad. Proud and loving Papa of Austin and Jordan. Dear brother of Jim and his late wife Marie. Loving uncle and friend to all his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax (Pickering Village) from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Dear mother to Robert and his wife Janine of Greenbank and Marion and the late Wayne Barker of Port Perry. Fondly remembered by grandchildren. Stephanie, Robert, Leanne, Jessop, Bradley, and Joel. Rested at Low and Low funeral Home, Uxbridge 23 Main Street South on Monday, June 18th, 2001 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment , Uxbridge cemetery. On Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry, at age 80. Jean (nee Clark), beloved wife of the late Earl Martyn of Prince Albert. Loving step-mother of Marion Lake and her husband John of Lindsay and Bruce Martyn and his wife Denise of Etobicoke. Loved grandmother of Brenda, Ralph, Nikki, Brendan and great-grandmother of Tracy and Scott. Dear sister-in-law of Gertrude Wannamaker and predeceased by brother-in-law Allen Martyn. Relatives and friends will be received at the Wagg Funeral Home "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" 216 Queen Street in Port Perry on Monday, June 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service to Celebrate the life of Jean Martyn will be held in the Port Perry United Church (the corner of Queen and Simcoe Streets in Port Perry) on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Julie Van Haaften officiating. If desired memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Survived by brothers Ken, Roy and David. Predeceased by Ellie, Bruce, Ruth and Harold. At HiIlsdaIe Manor Friday June 15, 2001 in her 78th year. Died from a longtime illness with her family and wonderful caregivers by her side. Beloved wife of Jack Harper. Predeceased by her mother Agnes Bowman Boyd and her father Harry Boyd Sr. Dear mother of Brian North and granddaughter Vicky from Lake Cowichan, Vancouver Island. Dear sister of Ruth and husband John Hobbs of Whitby, Diane and husband Kenneth Starr of Oshawa, brother Mathew and wife Dorothy Boyd of Barrie, sister in law Marian Boyd of Oshawa and predeceased by brother Harry Boyd Jr. of Oshawa. A loving person who will be missed by many people including her nieces and nephews. A service will be held at Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1200 Thornton Rd. North, Oshawa on Thursday June 28, at 2 pm with Major Gary Cooper of the Salvation Army giving the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated. Interment will be at a later date.

MUNDY, Thomas Dunstan -
Peacefully at home on June 15, 2001, in his 72nd year. Beloved husband of Mary and father to Susan. Predeceased by sister Una and brother Peter. Loved too by the treasured friends who were important to him and brought him much joy. Cremation has taken place, and in keeping with Tom's wishes there will be no service. Beloved husband of Ruth for 57 years. Loving father of Judith. Dearest uncle of Margaret Clark of Mississauga; great uncle of Thomas Shaw of Toronto and Tim and his wife Eleanor Shaw of California. Also remembered by his sister-in-law Hilary Pool and cousins in Niagara Falls. Brother of the late Arthur Pool and Betty Thomas. Von Sturgis beloved wife of the late Dr. Daniel Sturgis of Oshawa and dear mother of David Sturgis and his wife Sharon of Huntsville and the late Diane Sturgis of Toronto. Loved by grandchildren Kristin, Dan and Jeff. At Mrs. Sturgis’s request private family arrangements were made. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society, would be appreciated.

WILBUR, Mildred Dorothy -
Peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto on Friday, June 15th, 2001 in her 79th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Lewis. Will be fondly remembered by her children Lloyd Copp, Sharon Geldart, Sheila Butland and Sandra and her husband Eric Thompson of New Brunswick. Mildred will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Timothy and Justin of New Brunswick; Kimberly, Brenda, Marlene, Karen, Darren, Randy, Jennifer and her great grandchildren Christina, Cody, Alyssa, Katie, Courtney, Matthew, Nathan, Marissa and Ryan. Survived by her sister Ms. Alice Wing of Brian Tree, Mass. The family would like to extend a Thank You to the Nursing staff on the 4th floor ICU at St. Michael’s Hospital for all their care and compassion, also a special Thank You to Bernice Doucett. Survived by her sister Lois and her husband Joseph of Bateau Bay, Australia. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2001 at the Mount Pleasant cemetery , Toronto at 11:30 a.m. In Elsie's memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. GIBSON, Thelma Rose (nee Barkway) -
In her 87th year. Passed on peacefully in Lakeridge Port Perry Hospital on Thursday, June 14th, 2001. Beloved wife for 53 years of the late Alex Gibson. Loving mother of Dianne Gilbert and her companion Mike Britton of Whitby. Devoted Nana to Debbie Fox (Rick) and Cheryl and Alison Gilbert, and great Nana to Sarah and Ryan Fox. Sadly missed by her nephew GeorgeOliver. Thelma was predeceased by her sisters Grace Oliver (Tom) and Muriel Lambert (Les).
