(2 Cor. 5:17) - On June 9, 2001 our heavenly Father called home our precious wife, mother, Beppe and Great-Beppe, peacefully at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa. Beloved wife of Lloyd for 51 years. Dear mother of Alice and Sidney Nettinga, Freida and Gary Reid, Helen Wesselius, John and Trudy Wesselius and Barb and John Dyrseth. Loving Beppe of Jeanette and Rob, Jeff and Crystal, Elizabeth; Christine, Greg and Staci, Kimbe­ly; Sarah, Lee, David; Graeme, Annalise and Mara. Great-Beppe of Andrea, Ethan, Payton and Nigel. Dear sister of Walter and Rose Piersma, Durk and Irene Piersma, Ann and don Vandermeer and sister-in-law of Bill and Alice Wesselius. Also survived by brothers and sisters in The Netherlands. Visitation at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral, 53 Division St. N., Bowmanville, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001. Funeral ser­ice at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Ma­antha Christian Reformed Church, Bowmanville. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation.

MILLER, Stanley Wellington “Duke” -
(Veteran of WW II and life member of Brooklin Canadian Legion Branch 152.) Peacefully in hospital on June 9th, 2001 in his 83rd year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jessie (Gourley) of 53 years; his son Randy (Laurie) of Innisville, Alberta and daughter Heather of Ajax, Ontario. Dearly loved grandfather of Robert (Michelle), Kelly (Dave), Madison and Myles. Great grandfather of Curtis, Jessica, Amanda and Allyshe. He is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Lila Miller and brothers Allen, Orville, Clarence and sister Grace. Duke is survived by brothers Hartley (Cathy) of Peterbourgh, Jim of Toronto, Carl of Cobourg and Ruby Cameron of Renfrew, Ontario. Friends may call OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE, “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St., West, (905-721-1234) for visitation on Monday, June 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, June 12th at 11:00 A.M. Donations to the Alzheirner’s Society would be appreciated.

BATESON, John -
With sadness, his family announces his sudden passing June 8, 2001. His courage throughout his illness touched us all. A wonderful caring companion to his wife Lucy, a devoted father to Jeremy and his wife Debbie Yanchula and a warm and loving grandfather to Daniel and Kelly. Will be much missed by his sister Cathy Black and brother Christopher Bateson, nephews Graeme and Andrew Hill and Charlie Black, brothers-in-law Gary Hill and Richard Black and sisters-in-law Sheila Bateson and Ann Hill. The family will receive friends at the Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Ave., Ajax from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 and 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 13. Any donations may be made to the Ajax-Pickering General Hospital.

LICKLEY, John M. -
passed away peacefully at home in Pickering on Friday, June 8, 2001, in his 73rd year. John Lickley, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed and remembered by all. Funeral service to be held in the chapel at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at 1 p.m. Should family and friends so desire, donations to Sleeping Children Around the World (28 Pinehurst Cres., Toronto ON, M9A 3A5) would be greatly appreciated.

READ, Jim -
passed away suddenly at the Rouge Valley Health System’s Ajax-Picke­ing Site, on Friday June 8, 2001, in his 88th year. Jim will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Nora (Patten), his children Alice (Gary Edgar), Jim (Ann), Marg (Howard Moore), Dave (Beth Ross), Connie (Terry Williams), Steve (Anne) and Tom (Paula), his grandchildren Lisa (Clark Menzies) and Phil (Kim) Edgar, Chris (Fiona) and Cheryl Moore, Susan and ‘Mike Read, Emily and Leanne Read, Pamela and Cameron Read, and his great grandchildren Jordan and Spencer Menzies. Jim was a brother to Grace Steward, Kay Darlington, and Violet Linton, and the late Gertrude James and Victor Read. As a WW2 veteran, he will also be missed by members of the Legion and the Canadian Corps. Friends and neighbours are invited to join with family to commemorate his life in a Memorial Service at the Canadian Corps, 142 Athol St. Oshawa, on Wednesday June 20, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. A former resident of Port Perry, Oshawa, and Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Whitby, and a retired employee of DuPlate Canada, Jim has donated his body to the University of Toronto Anatomy Department so that others may gain. The family wishes to thank all those who helped make Jim’s life easier in his later years, and would appreciate memorial donations made to the Lung Association of Ontario, 40 King St. West, Suite 202, Oshawa, L1H 1A4.

Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in his 85th year, on Friday, June 8, 2001. Beloved husband of Betty for 62 years. Loving father of Diane (John) Sarginson and Barry. Grandfather of Phil (Kelly), Kara (Tony), Curran (Kamla) and Ryan (Mie). Great-grandfather of Philip, Michelle, Blair, Terran, Chloe, Kaley and Ayden. Brother of John. Retired employee of Eaton's. Cremation has taken place per Jim's wishes. Predeceased by his parents William Edward and Janet Ellen Burn of Hespeler. Survived by his wife Joan (nee Somerville). He will be fondly remembered by his many relatives and friends. Cherished “Poppa Joe” of Michael, Amy, Jamie, Jonathan, Michael, Curtis, Alex and awaited by Matthew. Sadly missed by sisters Helen McClure and Eunice Euart. Predeceased by brother Bill and infant brother Lawrence. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Alice Koskin. At his request, an intimate family service was held, followed by cremation.
