With sadness the family wishes to announce the departing of our mother, Blanche Nelson on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the age of 95. The last offspring of Zoe and Delphis Mayer. Beloved wife of the late George Nelson. Predeceased by her sons, baby Maurice, Charles (the late Lois) and daughter Doreen (Eldon Cross). Blessed with beautiful memories are her children Raymond (Jeannine), Edward (Marjorie), Earl (Colette), Kathleen (Wayne Brennan) and James (Cheryl). Blanche will also be sadly missed by her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Peacefully at Madonna Nursing Home, Ottawa on Monday, December 19, 2005, C. Russell Parke in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Murray). Loving father of Bruce and his wife Gale Hanson of Ottawa and Jennifer Lapointe of Edmonton. Cherished Granddad of Karen, Alex, Carrie, Cindy and Mathieu. Also survived by three great grandsons. Brother of Leonard, Norma, Thelma and Donald. Born in Montreal, 1922, Russell graduated with honours from McGill University as a Civil Engineer. A Decorated Canloan Veteran of WWII. After a fulfilling career with Bell Canada, Russell enjoyed his retirement years golfing, skiing and summers at the family cottage at St- Adolphe-d Howard. Adrienne L. Parrott (nee Bourget) - 12/20/2005
Peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2005, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late William Parrott. Predeceased by sisters Beatrice McMannus, Elizabeth McDermott and Margaret Bourget. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Adrienne and Bill moved to Ottawa in the early 1940 s, where he practiced chartered accounting with Adrienne s assistance. Adrienne was an active member of the IODE, the Women s Canadian Club, and supporter of the National Arts Centre and National Gallery. A dignified, elegant, intelligent woman, she had an active business and social life in Ottawa, and frequent travels throughout the world. Sadly missed by nieces Carol (Brian) Worobey, Pat (Bob) Michener, Elise (Laird) Weagant, nephew Paul (Pat) McDermott and families. Fondly remembered by the McMannus family, Parrott family, other relatives and many great-nieces and nephews across the country. Those friends remaining will miss Adrienne s cheerful disposition and positive outlook on life. A caring, gentle spirit left us Thursday evening after months of struggle with cancer. Judy was born in Trinidad, May, 22, 1944, and trained in nursing in Oxford, England. There she met David, her husband of 37 years and life's closest companion. She was a loving mother to Charles and James (Sheila). She is survived by sisters Gwen (Martin) and Alison (Dermott) and a brother Anton, as well as 3 nephews and a niece. Since coming to Canada in 1975 she worked in several places, finishing her career as a home care case manager with the Community Care Access Centre. Special thanks to Judy Panter of CCAC, and also doctors and nurses who cared for her through her illness. Daughter of the late Archie and Edith Levitan. Sister-in-law to Alan Abelson, and Cecilia Levitan whom she regarded as a special sister. Cherished friend of Susie Gellman. Will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews. A devoted mother Sarah enjoyed a long career with the federal government until her retirement at 65. An inspiration to all lives she touched, Sarah led a fulfilled life and will be fondly remembered. Peacefully at Hillel Lodge on Saturday, December 17th, 2005, Mona Slover, age 84, was the widow of the late Lawrence Slover. During their marriage, the Slover family operated and expanded a family department store under the name F. Slover Ltd. at York, William and Clarence Streets in the Byward Market, until the property was converted to other retail, restaurant and office uses during the 70 s. She was also predeceased by her parents Sam and Fannie Cohen, and her brothers, Reuben, Alec and Wolfred. Mona s family was prominent in the Ottawa furniture business, where she worked as a young woman. Her father, Samuel Cohen, was a co-founder of Colonial Furniture at the corner of Bank and Laurier Streets for many years. Mona Cohen Slover was an intelligent, refined, dignified, considerate woman, loved and respected by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her children Frank and Anne; grandchildren Jennifer Hartman, Simon Cheesman and Sidney, Amy and Sam Slover and great-grandchildren Rachael and Nathan Hartman.
