MAJOR Catherine -
Peacefully at Thorntonview Nursing Home on Wednesday November 14th, 2001. Catherine in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late William Thomas Major. Loving mother of the late Roy Major of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Evelyn Elwell and her husband John of Toronto, Frederick Charles and his wife Ann, and Barbara Jean Steinfield and her husband Lloyd. Catherine will be sadly missed by her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Catherine was a long time resident of Oshawa and longstanding member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. With a funeral service in the Chapel on Saturday November 17th, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Interment MOUNT LAWN Memorial Gardens Whitby. Memorial Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service.

PATTERSON, Helen Irene -
A Registered Nurse for over 60 years, Helen retired from Fairview Lodge, she worked at Dunlop Tires as well as at other Medical Institutions. She also taught at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. passed away peacefully at Ajax, Pickering Health Centre on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 in her 79th year. Helen, beloved wife of the late Norman. Loving mother of Colleen and her husband Ross McGillivray and their family. Predeceased by her brother Raymond Lawrence. At Helen's request there will be no visitation and no service. Cremation with interment at Woodstock, Ontario. In her memory, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre or to the Salvation Army. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby.

PRPICH, Mark Emil John -
Suddenly on Wednesday November 14th, 2001. Mark Prpich, in his 46th year. Life long partner of Brenda Morley. Loving father of Kimberly. Loving brother of Lee Anne Robert (Roy), Linda Noel (Robert), Lori Waite (Ken) and Lisa Lofstrom (Eddie). Mark will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephew, friends, family and his companion Max. Resting at the Armstrong funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa (905) 433-4711, with a Memorial Service in the Chapel on Monday, November 19th, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Whitbread, Harry -
(Retired as Sargent of General Motors Police Force after 39 years of service). At Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Wednesday November 14, 2001 at 87 years of age. Beloved husband of Doris (nee Fisher) for 60 years. Loving father of Judy O'Neil and her husband Frank and Ron Whitbread and his wife Bev. Special Poppa of Stephen & Michelle Whitbread and Darren O'Neil and Grandpa of Carrie Whitbread. Predeceased by his parents George and Mabel Whitbread, his brothers Harold, Russell and his sister Rose. Harry will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Dr. Rowsell, Dr. Shepley, Palliative Care, Durham Access to Care and the nursing staff who have crossed our path. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home 124 King Street East, Oshawa with funeral service in the Chapel on Monday November 19, 2001 at 2:30p.m. Interment Thornton cemetery. At Lakeridge Health, Bowmanville on Tuesday November 13, 2001. Helen Aylesworth in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Aylesworth. Lovingmother of Jean Cronin and her husband Ron, Thelma Parfitt and her husband Andy, Allan and his wife Linda, Frank and his wife Alvalee and Sonny (Garnet) (deceased) and his wife Betty. Lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her sisters Marion (Lol) Kingsland and her husband George, Margaret Smith and her husband Hugh and her sister in law Violet Crawford. Predeceased by her brothers James Crawford, Earl Crawford and her sisters Wilhelmina Caldwell and her husband Frank and Lillian Smith and her husband Percy. Rested at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa. Funeral service was held in the Chapelon Friday November 16, 2001 at 1 p.m. Interment MOUNT LAWN MEMORIAL GARDENS, Whitby. Memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation was held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

McCALLUM, Eleanor Sophie Esther -
(Graduate Nurse Toronto General Hospital). Suddenly, at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Eleanor (nee Houseman) in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Group Capt. I. Donald McCallum for 52 years. Exceptionally loving mother of Doug and his wife Lynne of Halifax, Carol McCallum of Orangeville, Joan and her husband Ted Savelle of Whitby and the late Rick McCallum. Mother-in-law of Sheila McCallum of Kanata. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Scott and his wife Melinda, Jordan, Heather, Westley, Ashley, Jacques, Tracy, Rob, Mike, Tara and great-granddaughter Emma plus 2 more in the oven. Dear sister of Walt and Lois Houseman, Billie and Al Wakarchuk, Connie and G. ‘Stevie' Stephenson, Art and Elise Houseman, Marlene and Mel Howard, Donna and John Carlin, predeceased by Wem, Vic and Gloria. A Memorial Service will be held at the McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME Ltd., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (9O5-433-5553) on Friday, November 16, 2001 at 2:00 pm. Donations made in memory of Eleanor to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

Suddenly, on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 70. Art Vandervoort of Port Perry, best friend and companion of Glady Mahaffy. He was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce (nee Hermans) in 1980. Loved father of Joanne and her husband Ron Pieroni of Oshawa and Arthur Vandervoort of Cresswell, and stepfather of Ian, Shawn and Glen Mahaffy. Loving grandfather of Jaclyn and Adrian Pieroni. Dear brother of Tony Vandervoort and his wife Corry of Oshawa, Dorothy and her husband Sam Schouten of Oakville, Dick Vandervoort (deceased) and other brothers and sisters in Holland. Relatives and friends will be received at the Wagg Funeral HomeA, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 1722 Scugog Street in Port Perry on Friday, November 16th at 10 a.m. with Father Bernard Canning officiating. CZABAN, Louise (Liza) -
Peacefully, at Thompson House Seniors Residence, Don Mills, on Monday, November 12, 2001, at the age of 95. Cherished mother of Marie (nee Wladyka) Godfrey and her husband Kirk of Oakville, the late Fred Fedorsen and the late John Fedorsyn. Dear step-mother of Michael Wladyka and his wife Mary of Port Hope, the late William Wladyka and the late Olga Kuchma and her husband, the late John Kuchma. Survived by her daughters-in-law Aileen Fedorsen of Toronto, Ruth Fedorsyn of Florida and Mary Wladyka of Port Hope. Proud and loving "Baba" to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years, Liza was a well known seamstress and designer of wedding gowns in Oshawa. The family wishes to thank the staff at Thompson House for their many years of loving care. Family and friends will be received at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Thursday, November 15, 2001 from 10 to 11 a.m. with Funeral Service to follow in the Chapel. McLELLAN, Harry Delbert (Del) -
passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Monday,
November 12th, 2001 in his 69th year. He is survived by his two sons Danny and Scott and his sisters Molly, Peggy and Donna and also his good friend Lorraine and their families. Peacefully passed away on November 12, 2001 at the Centenary Hospital in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Laurie. Loving son of Mildred and the late Jack McMillan. TOOLE, Bernice Marguerite (nee Ellis) -
Entered into rest on Monday, November 12, 2001 at Versa Care Centre, Uxbridge. In her 87th year. Bernice, beloved wife of the late Everald Toole. Dear mother of Doris and her husband Roger Ashenhurst, predeceased by Marvin and his wife Ruth Toole, Eunice and her husband Ted Pike, Phyllis and her husband Ron Young, Grant, Earl and his wife Mary, and Paul and his wife Barb. Fondly remembered by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister Iola Jones, predeceased by sister Dorothy Ellis. Resting at the Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge, 23 Main Street South, on Wednesday, November 14th, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Interment , Uxbridge cemetery. YOUNG, Ann Maria -
Suddenly as the result of an automobile accident on Monday November 12, 2001 in Whitby in her 51st year. Ann, beloved companion of Ron Wilson, loveddaughter of Mary Krasnay and the late John Krasnay. Loving mother of Jason Young of California. Dear sister of John Krasnay and his wife Barbara, Bozena Guilbert and her companion Ron Rowsell, and Joe Krasnay and his wife Donna. Loved godmother and aunt of Krystle, and dear aunt of John, Gillian, Chris, Michael, Bradley, Kimberley, Adam and Cody, and great aunt of Madelyn and Bennett. Ann will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A private family service was held. Memorial Donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa.

BUTLER, Ronald William -
Peacefully at his residence in Whitby on Sunday, November 11th, 2001, Ron passed away following over 14 years of a determined and courageous battle against brain tumors. Ron was the cherished husband and best friend of Anne (Gifford), proud and loving father of Sharon Watson arid her husband Phil and Glenn and his partner Nancy. Greatest Poppa in the world to his 4 grandchildren, Dakota, Quinn, Danika and Landon Watson. Dear brother of Richard and his wife Elaine and loving uncle of Craig and Chris Butler, his wife Lisa and their son Kyle. Fond brother-in-law to Linda Clark and her late husband Ron. Ron will be sadly missed by all the friends made over the past 25 years at the Go Kart tracks. His two cats Brandee and Bently will surely be lost without their daily affection from Ron. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior to Service. Cremation. No flowers please. Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada would be most appreciated by the family.
