Suddenly on Sunday, January 27, 2002 at the Lakeridge Health Corporation, Oshawa, at the age of 64. Jack, beloved husband and best friend of Pat. Truly loved by his sons, Christopher and his wife Catherine, Craig and his wife Jennifer. Proud grandfather of grandsons Cullen and Hayden; and granddaughters, Kennedy and Cassidy. Sadly missed by brothers Norman, Robert, Ernie (Susan), and sisters Areline, Marie (Alvin) and Dorothy. Predeceased by brother Arthur, sisters Joyce, Ellen and Doreen. Brother-in-law of Terry Shand (Lynda) and Colin Handley. True friend of Jean and Tony Webb. Will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Walter was born in Tweed Ontario and was employed at General Motors for 37 1/2 years where he retired in 1974. He was a Sergeant in the Ontario Regiment Tank Corp, Oshawa and was overseas for 5 years during World War 11. Beloved wife Hazel of 62 years. Two sonsRobert & wife Helen, Glenn & wife Phyllis, all of Oshawa. Four grandchildren, Jeff, Kim & husband Rob, Sherry and Blair and six great-grandchildren. Born in the Beach on Silverbirch Ave., Toronto, December 8, 1914. passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, January 25, 2002 at Lakeridge Health Centre, Port Perry, Ontario. Gordon was predeceased by beloved wife Vera Irene (Starkie) in 1967. They were married 32 years. Dear Dad of Joan, Shirley, Gladys, Gene, Betty and Robert. Loved Grampa of 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, a total of 5 generations. Gord was a long time manager of A.E. Brown Marine on Main St. in the Beach. Co-founder and Life Rear Commodore of the Canadian Boating Federation. A founding member of the Toronto Hydroplane Club at Ashbridges Bay. The driving force behind what is now the Toronto Boat Show. He was a three time Canadian High Point Champion for C Class racing and was a proficient builder of racing and pleasure craft in the forties and fifties. A Journeyman carpenter (Joiner) by trade. A Grand Master Mason in the Chisolm Lodge. Gordon Robert Porter has been cremated as per his wishes. His family will celebrate his 87 years of life at the Wagg Funeral Home, 216 Queen Street, Port Perry, Ontario, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002. All are welcome.
