(March 27th, 1980 - February 2nd, 2002). Suddenly, yet peacefully at home on Saturday, February 2nd, 2002, Alicia passed on, searching for the light of God.
Alicia is the daughter of Linda (McLaughlin) Dionne and Ted Dionne. She will be forever missed by her sister Julie, brothers Marc, Darcy and Joseph, grandparents Stella and Allan Mitchell of Rivers, Manitoba, Bill McLaughlin of Markham, Ruth Dionne of Oshawa and the late Bob Dionne. She is lovingly remembered by step-mother Linda Lowery, step-brother Garrett and Cumie Sanders of Eagle Springs, North Carolina.
Alicia was blessed with uncles and aunts Carol Coupland and Terry Aimone of Thornhill, Glenn McLauglin and Susan Lee of Richmond B.C., Tony and Diane McLaughlin of Ottawa, Shane McLaughlin, Gary and Sherri Dionne, Jerry and Gail Dionne, and cousins Arran, Michael, Sean, Miranda, Robin, Jenny, Stuart, Kevin, Steven, David, Johanne, Katie, Thomas, Leland and Cody and Torrance.
Alicia is a graduate of Paul Dwyer Catholic High School in Oshawa. She was a well known soccer player for the Oshawa Kicks on many championships teams. Known for her love of nature and her care and concern for persons with disabilities and the poor, Alicia worked as a support worker at Kerry’s Place in Whitby. In her short, but full life, she spent time working for the poor in both India and Africa. She was an environmental advocate who was a strong supporter of the World Wildlife Fund and the Save a Family Plan.
She will be especially missed by her brother Darcy, whom she advocated for her entire life, loved spending time with and “teased" always! Her traveling companions and lifelong friends Tyler Uprichard and Melina Coscarella will continue carrying her loving message throughout the world.
