HOWARD, Tammy Lynn –
At Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, April 12, 2002, at the age of 23. Tammy was the much loved and spoiled daughter of Jeanette and Bob Smith of Oshawa. She will be sadly missed by her grandfathers, Bob Smith Sr. of Oshawa and Walter Danielson of Alberta, her other Mom, Judy Linn of Alberta, and the rest of her family and many friends. Heartfelt thanks to Cathy Hopper and especially Karen Wicks of the ParaMed Nursing Team, and Bev Dwyer of Durham Access to Care. A memorial service for Tammy will be held at the Oshawa Community Church, 71 Simcoe St. S. (at Bruce) on Saturday, May 18, at 1:00 p.m. In her memory, donations to ParaMed Home Health Care or Durham Access to Care would be greatly appreciated by Tammy’s family, and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME (905) 987-3964.

Suddenly, at his residence, Oshawa Ontario, Friday, April 12th, 2002. Christopher W. Little, in his 62nd year. Lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon. Dear father of Mark (Martha), Todd (Eileen), Leah, and Tania. Loving grandfather of Tristin and Cassandra. Dear stepfather of Shawn, Melodye, Steve, and step grandson Ethan. Dear brother of Richard Caruthers Little and Frederick William Little. Christopher will be missed by his faithful companion Trillie. Funeral Service was held in the Chapel of OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE, “Thornton Chapel” 847 King Street, West (905-7214234) on Monday. April 15th, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation followed by Interment of Cremated Remains in the family plot at Beechwood cemetery , Ottawa. SCHMIDT, Brian L. -
(Retired Sergeant C.A.F. and Employee of the University of Toronto). After a valiant and hard fought battle, surrounded by those he loved, Brian passed away on Friday, April 12, 2002, at the Whitby General Hospital. Husband of Patricia Schmidt (nee Edmonson) and proud and loving father to his devoted children Brian Jr. and Carrie. Son of the late Howard and Freda Schmidt and brother of Hedy, Howard, Helga and special brother and friend to Gary. Brian was an uncle and brother-in-law to many, especially close to his lifelong friend and brother-in-law Barry Edmonson. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Sunday, April 14, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation. Patricia, Brian Jr. and Carrie express their sincere thanks to the medical, nursing and support staff at LHW for their caring, kindness and compassion to all of us over the past six years. Also a very heart-felt thank you to our friend Rolf Castanheiro, for the special care he gave to Brian over the past nine years. Loving mother of Stephen Finnigan, Gregory Finnigan and his wife Rebekkah, Marty Pierson and her husband Doug, Dianne Crowell and Eric Crowell and his wife Kathy. Dear grandmother of Jordan, Lindsay, Nevin, Joshua, and William. Dear sister of Wayne Girard, Michael Girard and Frank Girard. MCCONKEY, John (Jack) Samuel -
Peacefully passed away in his 81st year, surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Thursday, April 11th, 2002. Loving and caring husband of Gwen (nee Fawbert) for 55 years. Devoted father of 3 sons, Mark, Ron and his wife Sherril and Doug. Adored by his grandchildren Allison, Tina, Laura and James. Brother of Lawrence and his wife Audrey, and the late Marshall. Son of the late John Albert and Minnie McConkey. Loved and respected by the Legree family, Don and the late Marilyn, Donna and Dave Sheridan and their sons Brandon and Christopher, Brian and his wife Jennifer and their children Allison and Davis, and many dear friends. Jack was a member of Branch 152, Royal Canadian Legion, Brooklin. He served overseas during W.W. 11 as a sapper with the 6th Field Company, 3rd Regiment, Royal Canadian Engineers, landing at Juno Beach on “D-Day” during the First Wave. Jack was a retired employee of Duplate Canada (P.P.G.) for 36 years, and an avid sports enthusiast. Jack was a respected fastball pitcher playing and winning provincial titles with such teams as Pedlars, Maple Leaf Cleaners, Tony’s and Duplate. He once won a batting title in the competitive Beaches league. He later coached in legion baseball. Jack was inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 along with his 1948-49 Pedlar teammates. Peacefully, at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Tuesday, April 10th, 2002 in her 97th year. Dear daughter of the late Harry and Susan Barber. Beloved sister of Lilyan Noble. Predeceased by brothers Harold and Ralph. Sadly missed by sister-in-law Ethel, nieces Lorna Ware and Susanne McLeod, nephews Gary, Peter and his wife Janice, Jim and great-nephews Brad and Jeff (Ware). Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, with his family at his side on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in his 60th year. David, loving husband and best friend of Penny (nee Meadows), long-time residents of Newcastle. Loving father of Robert and his wife Gwen of Bowmanville, and Kellie and her fiancé Fred Millson of Newcastle. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Gregory, Alexandria, Bailey, and Jacob. Brother of Danny, Kenny and Jane, Ronnie and Brenda, Art, Bob and Robin, Nancy and Charlie, and the late Marion. passed away peacefully at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, Whitby on Wednesday, April 10th, 2002 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of. Beverley for 51 years. Dear father of Gary and his wife Blanche of Oro Station, Shonagh and her husband Michael Dougherty of Whitby, Barry and his wife Kelly of Oshawa and predeceased by his son Mark. A loving “Bompa” to Paula and Andrew Johnston of Carlisle and Kyle Dougherty of Whitby. Dave will be remembered for his love of life and his great love of music. Much loved Grandmother of 23 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Survived by her sister-in-law Stella Farrell of Morrisburg, Ontario. For many years Marie was an active member of St. Gregory’s C.W.L. and the Daughters of Isabella. Jack, beloved husband of Patricia. Loving father of Gary and his wife Karen, Garth and his wife Mary, Sheri and husband Allan Reed, Lana Lauda and Clayton, Kathy Penwright and Dean, Brenda Pietrzyk and Steve. Dear grandfather of Heather and her husband Gary, John, Jay, Meghan, Stewart, Kristopher, Jackallynn, Ryanne, John, Jennifer, Justin and his wife Alana, Roxanne, Robin and Nicholas. Great grandfather of Jesse, Amanda, Jason, and Ashley. Godfather to Gordon Trinkwon. Brother-in-law of Pauline & Tony Laroque, Gloria and Peter Castallen, Victor and Jean Kostiuk, Albert and Sarah Kostiuk and Donald Dickson. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
