On Tuesday, August 20, 2002, quietly, after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Murray Silver. Loving mother of Sharon and Daniel. Devoted grandmother to Stacey, Matthew, Tammy and her husband Andrew Bulmer. Great-grandmother of Danielle and Bradley. Beloved sister of Alec Brown (Isabel) and predeceased by brother Douglas Brown. A special thanks to Irene Silver for all her help, also nurses Kim, Lisa and Sharon, Dr. Hall, ComCare and Palliative Care for all their support. Betty will be sadly missed by her friends and neighbours. A private family funeral will be held on Friday, August 23, 2002 and Betty is now resting with her husband Murray at Thornton cemetery. She was born in Oshawa where she graduated from Central Collegiate High School. She graduated from Durham College in Business Accounting. She was a dedicated mother and she loved music, gardening and life to the fullest. She is loved and greatly missed by her mother, Rozanne Tully; her father, Lou Tully; one son Preston; and two daughters, Emily and Alyssa; her sister Debbie; her brothers, Darrell and Dennis; her fiance, Richard Peebles; and many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and many, many friends. Margaret passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at Extendicare Nursing Home in Oshawa. Born in Cobalt, Ontario on September 29, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Mary and John Johnston. She had lived in Timmins, Ontario and came to Oshawa in 1941. A former employee of Bell Canada and General Motors, she retired from the G.M. Parts Locations in 1985. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Louis in 2000. She is survived by one brother, Robert Johnston (Ruth) of Oshawa. She was predeceased by six sisters, Della Tinney, Gertrude Blackthorn (Jim), Ruth Perry (Charlie), Mary Voyska (Frank), Pat Anderson (Bill), Muriel Carter (Doug) and brothers Erwin (Lena), Charlie (Ruth), James (Nellie), Dave (Nora), and Elwood (Ruby). Margaret was loved and wll be missed by many nieces and nephews.
