Peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 6th, 2002 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Jenny . Dear father of Stephen Falconer and Linda Bourgeois and her husband Harold. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Keith, Angela and Jennifer and great grandchildren Samatha and Tyler, brothers and sisters and his extended family. Funeral Service will be he1d in the Chapel at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) on Fiiday, August 9th at 1: 00 P.M.

FARRELL, Mervyn Leo -
Age 75 years. At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Tuesday August 6th, 2002. Dear father of Lynn & her husband Steve Richards, Anne & her husband Phil Leith, Dawn, Kevin & his wife Sherri, Colleen & Mike d'Entrement. "Papa" will be sadly missed by all his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville 1 hour prior to service. Funeral Service will be held in our Chapel 1pm Friday. Cremation. Donations made to World Vision would be appreciated by the family.

PATTERSON, Betty Jean (Linton) -
Entered into rest after a valiant struggle with cancer on August 6, 2002, in her 75th year, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville. Betty, beloved wife of Jim Patterson for 53 years. Loved mother of Cathy (Keith) Wallace of Newmarket and Rick (Barb) Patterson of Bowmanville. Devoted and loved grandma to Erin and Greg Patterson. Lovingly remembered by her niece Carole (lan) MacFarquhar and son David. Predeceased by brother Jim (Helene) Linton. There will be a memorial service at St. Paul’s United Church, 178 Church St., Bowmanville on Thursday, August 8, at 1 p.m. Cremation at Elmwood Crematorium with interment of ashes in Orono cemetery. Donations in Betty’s memory to St. Paul’s United Church or Memorial Hospital Foundation, Bowmanville would be gratefully appreciated and can be made through the Morris Funeal Chapel, 4 Division St., Bowmanville.

At the Lakeridge Health (Oshawa) on Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at the age of 71. Jim, beloved husband of Marjorie Macdonell. Loving father of Jennifer of Dorchester, Sean of Oro Station, Paul of Nestleton, Mark of Waterloo, James of Toronto, Christopher of Whitby, Andrea of Istanbul, Turkey, Brian of Bowmanville, Adam of Waterloo. Dear grandfather of Caitlin, Daniel and Ethan Shields, Tamaro Davidson, Andrew, Stefan, Karl and Kristov Loebus, William Murata Shields, Moeve, Brigh and Eibhlin Findlay-Shields, Zafer and Sezen lzer, Mercedes and Brenna Shields. Brother of Michael Shields. Brother-in-law of Hilda Shields of Lone Sault, Ont. Predeceased by his brother Bernard Shields. Uncle of Cathy and Tim Shields. Also mourned by Andreas Loebus, Beryl Ramey, Jennifer A. Shields, Kristen Shields, Darlene Davidson, Andrea Findlay Shields, Sinan Izer, Fiorella Shields and Rebecca Ng. Mr. Shields will be resting at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas St. East Whitby Thursday from 2-4 and 7 to 9p.m. Friday 9 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St John the Evangelist Church, 903 Giffard St., Whitby, Friday 11:00 a.m. Burial Resurrection cemetery. Donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (St. John the Evangelist Parish) would be appreciated by the family.

ARBUCKLE, Phyllis Jane -
On Monday, August 5, 2002 at the West Shore Retirement Home in Port Perry, at age 80. Phyllis (nee Dawson), beloved wife of the late Herb Arbuckle of Port Perry. Loved mother of Ronald Arbuckle and his wife Kathryn of Barrie, and Lynne and her husband Joe Sheehan of Seagrave. Loving grandmother of Ronald Jr., Patrick and Lindsay. Dear sister of Bert Dawson and his wife Coral, Shirley and her husband George Thomson, and the late Jim Dawson. A private family service will be held in the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905 985-2171) on Thursday, August 8th. Interment Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society.

LEGAULT, Joseph Ernest -
passed away peacefully, at his cottage in Baysville, on Monday, August 5th, 2002 in his 86th year. Formerly Superintendent of Curriculum Physical and Health Education, Metropolitan Toronto Separate School Board, and Principal of St. Barbara’s Catholic School, Scarborough. Joe had also taught at St. Rose of Lima and St. Lawrence Catholic Schools in Scarborough. Past Grand Knight Scarborough Council, Knights of Columbus (1955-1961). Joe was active in coaching junior hockey and baseball leagues. As “Brother John”, Joe taught at De LaSalle Oaklands Academy and De LaSalle Choir School on Bond Street. Also a member of the Suburbanaires Barbershop Chorus. Beloved husband of Joyce (Story). Dear father of David and Debbie Ross and her husband Bob. Proud grandfather of Melissa, Meaghan, Brandon and Shannon. Joe was also a loving foster father to many little ones. Longtime member of St. Joseph’s Highland Creek and Sacred Heart, Uxbridge Roman Catholic Churches. Predeceased, his brothers Bobby, John and Freddie and by his daughter-in-law Sheila and granddaughter Lisa Marie. Joe thoroughly enioyed his cottage and was an avid caretaker of his century home in Roseville. Friends may call at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge for visitation on Thursday, August 8th, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, August 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 70 Toronto Street North, Uxbridge on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment , Sacred Heart cemetery , Uxbridge. Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Entered into rest at Hillsdale Manor in Oshawa on Monday, August 5, 2002 in her 87th year. Loving mother of Austin and his wife Beverley of Lakefield. Grandmother of Cindy and her husband David Seguin of Oshawa and David McLuhan of Lakefield and great grandmother of Calli-Lyn Seguin. Predeceased by her brother Harold. The family will receive friends at the MACKEY FUNERAL HOME, 33 Peel Street Lindsay on Thursday August 8, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. until time of complete funeral service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Mount Forest cemetery on Saturday August 10th at 12:00 noon. Loving mother Anna Marie Allin and her husband John of Orono and Ruth Ellen Gray of Bowmanville. Dear grandmother of Tanya of Toronto and David of Midland. Loved sister of Anna Kleinstover of Picton and the late Martha, Audrey, Jenny and Ciesson. WOODHOUSE, Ted (Edward) -
passed away on August 5, 2002 at the Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, BC, due to cancer. Ted was in his 67th year. Ted was predeceased by his loving wife, Norah and son, Stephen. Lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses, Paul and Lisa of Port Coquitlam BC, Chrystal and Rob of Pontypool On, Angela and Mike of Verona On, and Andrew of Bowmanville, On. Also remembered by many family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2002 at 1:00pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on the corner of Lambs Rd and Hwy #2, in Bowmanville On. A tea will be held following the service at the Royal Canadian Legion on King St. in Bowmanville On. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Cancer Society or the Poppy Fund at the Royal Canadian Legion.

Suddenly on Sunday, August 4th at the age of 42. Beloved husband of Franca. Loving father of Danielle and Jenna. Beloved son of Theresa Deshevy and the late Leonard Deshevy. Fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters Bert, Bonnie, Cindy, Donna, Doug, Nicole, brother-in-law Cosmo and sister-in-law Ivana. Will be sadly missed by his many cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends. McPHERSON, Kenneth -
passed away peacefully on Sunday August 4, 2002. Beloved husband of Cynthia. Loving father of Christopher, Trevor and Suzette. Survived byhis sister Carmen of Jamaica. passed away peacefully on her 77th birthday August 4, 2002, at Strathaven Lifecare Centre, Bowmanville. Kathleen, wife of the late Vernon, mother of Kathie; Rick and wife Bonnie; Susan and husband Ward O'Neill; Karen and husband Ken Gough. Pre-deceased by daughter Patricia Ann. Proud Grandmother of Rebecca, Melissa, Heather, Jeremy, Michael, Brent, Gary and Daryl. Great Grandmother of Cameron and Connor. A service of remembrance will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave.) Toronto, on Saturday August 10th, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. During the past 20 months, Kathleen has been lovingly cared for with dignity and compassion by the staff of Strathaven Lifecare Centre. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for their kindness.
