THOMAS, Caroline Bernice (nee Campbell) -
May 25, 1928 to August 4, 2004
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 7th, 2004 to celebrate the life of Carol Thomas. Devoted sister of Joyce (Del), Don (Gayle) and Jean (Bill). Beloved wife of Charlie. Loving Mother of Dale (Walter), Jeff and Kerry (Neil). Cherished grandmother of Alex, Samantha, Kaitlin and Erik. Carol was also a dedicated kindergarten teacher who loved children and music. Her special gift of music she shared generously with her family, her friends and her fellow seniors at nursing homes throughout Oshawa and Whitby. She was always giving of her time, her talents and her love. She will be dearly missed. Arrangements under the direction of OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE "Thornton Chapel", 847 King Street West, (905-721-1234).

VISSER, Don (Doede) -
Aged 74 years. The Lord took him home after a courageous battle with cancer, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday, August 4th, 2004. Beloved husband of Joan (Joyce). Dear father of Ann and Fred Mars, Florene and Don Prins, Murray and the late Dorothy Visser. Loving Pake of Lauren and Scott Barker, Andrea Mars, Johnathon, Taylor and David Prins and Erik and Mark Visser. Dear brother of Jenne, Henk, Harm, Wiepe Stilma, Martje Ypma, Grace Heidinga, Pia De Leeuw and the late Hilbrand. Funeral service will be held in REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH on Saturday, August 7th, 2004 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Cancer Society or Knox Christian School Building Fund.

LANGFELD, Violet -
passed away suddenly at Community Nursing Home in Pickering on Tuesday August 3, 2004. Vi, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Philip George Langfeld. Loving mother of Romi & Bill Abbott, Heather Langfeld, Jan & Bill Ashton, and Cheryl & Louis Bekiaris. Dear grandmother of Dave (Darlene) Abbott, John Abbott, Julie Walker, Amurlee, Evelyn & Myles Ashton, Michael & Jessica Bekiaris, and great grandmother of Kyrie, Melissa & Brittany Abbott. Cherished sister of George & Joyce Wilson, and Evie & Tom Rae of England. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME LIMITED, 124 King Street East Oshawa with funeral service in the Chapel on Sunday August 8, 2004 at 4 p.m. Cremation. Memorial donations to Alzheimer Research would be appreciated. Visitation 2 hours prior to service.

MacKENZIE, MURDO "SCOTTY" -
(Retired from General Motors after 30 years, Standardbred Trainer,MacKenzie Stables)
After a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 70. Scotty MacKenzie of Port Perry, beloved husband of Stella (nee Gillis). Loving father of Nancy and her husband Richard Dressel of Port Perry and Pennsylvania, Joan and her husband Steve Batchelor of Port Perry, and stepfather of Ron Amero and his wife Gai of Thailand, and Kevin Amero and his wife Loretta of Alberta. Cherished grandfather of Adam, Michael, Scott, Christine, Murray, Chad and Mic, and great grandfather of Hailey-Marie. Loved son of the late John and Marion in Scotland. Dear brother of John, Katie, Anne, Bella (deceased), and Lily, and brother-in-law of Rose and Rob, Bernie and Penny, Teresa, Rusty and Ella, June and Rae, and John and Gail. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews and his friends Debbie and Stan Teggart. The family of Scotty MacKenzie will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Friday, August 6th from 10 - 11 a.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Durham Region Cancer Centre.

McKENZIE, Erma Marquita -
passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at the Ajax and Pickering Health Centre at the age of 60. Loving sister of Andrea and Margaret (Wennel). Loving aunt of Renaldo, Jermaine, Tonya, and Tamera. Funeral service to be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 77 Randall Street, Ajax (Pickering Village) on Saturday, August 14 at 11 a.m. A reception to follow at the Church. Should friends so desire, donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.

MATA, Antonio -
Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Tuesday August 3, 2004 at the age of 78. Antonio, beloved husband for 48 years of Maria Mata. Loving father of Tony Mata, Lucy Martin of Lindsay, Gorete MacDonald, Connie Cataldo (Joe) of California, Madalena Paterson (Doug) of Pontypool, Joe Mata, John Mata, and Marcelino Mata (Jennifer). Loving grandfather of Tonya, Tammy, Teana, Jonathan, Ryan, Sara, Natasha, Brittany, Crystal, Joshua, Jordan, Lucas, Julia, Brooke and James. Survived by brothers & sisters in Madeira, Portugal. Friends may call at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Thursday August 5th from 6 - 9 p.m. Prayers at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gertrude's Roman Catholic Church on Friday August 6th at 10:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection cemetery , Whitby. Memorial donations to Hearth Place would be appreciated by the family.

McAVOY Norval -
Entered into rest at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton, on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2004. Norval Irving McAvoy, in his 88th year, was the beloved husband of the late Myrtle Olive Thompson (1998). Loving father of Barbara & Frank Vale of Cannington and Neil & Donna McAvoy of Lisle, Ont. Dearly remembered by brothers and sisters Kathleen McAvoy, Frank McAvoy, Bernie & Jack Ward and Mary & Jack Tully. Also seven grandchildren Denise & Mike Faulkner, Grant & Susan Vale, Michelle McAvoy & fiance' Cory Garringer, Dale & Laura McAvoy, Kevin Vale & companion Katie Manorek, Jody & Shawn Towns and Wayne Campbell and ten great grandchildren. As a remembrance, donations to the Cancer Society, would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully at Fosterbrooke Long Term Care Facility, Newcastle on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in his 87th. year. Peter beloved husband of Gertrude (Hallman) and the late Ethel (Parsons). Loved father of Peter George Muzik and step-father of Edward (Ted) Hallman and Elizabeth Diane Adams. Dear brother of John, Rose and Mary. passed away at the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in her 82nd year. Margaret (Midge) Telfer (nee Lewis), wife of the late David Telfer. Dear mother of Craig (Bonita) Telfer, Pamela (David) Whitacre and the late Stephen Telfer. Loving grandmother of Trevor (Robyn), Kyle and Tyler and great-grandmother of Taylor and Cole. Survived by her sister Doris Milligan. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.

At Scarborough Centenary Hospital on Monday, August 2, 2004, in her 82nd year. Berniece (Moorey), beloved wife of Grant Alldred of Scarborough. Loving mother of Douglas and his wife Shirley, Garth and his wife Linda and Lynn Langevin and her husband Shawn. Loving grandmother of Bryan, Jonathan, Travis, Sarah, Karen and Grant. FREITAG, William “Helmer” -
Following a two year illness at home, peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, August 2nd, age 72. Born 1931 in Eganville, Ontario the eldest son of the late Leonard and Mabel Freitag. Brother of Leonard (Marlene) of Renfrew, Jim (Vonnie) of Truro, Nova Scotia, Verla (Clarence) of Pembroke, Jack (Thea) of Renfrew, Bill (Donna) of Renfrew and the late Carolyn (Gordon). A former 25-year shipper and foreman with Robson-Lang Leather and 14-year custodian at Ajax High School he retired in 1993. Helmer is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elma and sons Randy (Susan) of Thunder Bay and Dale (Joanne) of Oshawa and two grandchildren Brianna and Brodie. Private Funeral Service will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234). Cremated remains to be interred in Eganville. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeridge Health New Durham Region Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
